Nintendo's Switch is secretly hiding a copy of NES 'Golf'
Much to the joy of its acolytes, Nintendo recently promised to revive the NES Classic Edition in 2018. But, the nostalgia trip doesn't end there. As it turns out, the company's latest console may carry a NES emulator. Hackers have found the system wrapped around an existing game hidden inside the Switch. The title in question is dubbed "FLOG," and it looks just like Golf (the 1984 sports sim for the NES).
Shenzhen's portable LCD TV with NES emulation is lawsuit-errific
We have no idea how Shenzhen is going to be able to market this 8.4-inch LCD TV with built-in NES games / emulation in the States without a little amorous attention from Nintendo's lawyers, but seeing as the PDVD8088 apparently has been certified by the FCC, it looks like the unit may indeed be headed for our fair shores. Other than the NES features -- and included controller -- you're really not looking at much, here: built-in DVD player, MPEG4 compatibility, SD radio, FM transmitter, and USB ports so you can play media off flash drives. No word on price, but something tells us Shenzhen might have to jack it up a little when the Big N comes calling.[Via PMP Today]
NES-playin' Taiwanese smartphone comes gamepad-equipped
Oh my -- we're fallin' in love. Our always-inventive pals in Taiwan have developed a "PDA Phone" called the Century Sutra 1688 that comes complete with a gamepad controller (not Bluetooth, darn) and an NES emulation system. If you're fond of "Super Mario Brothers" and "The Legend of Zelda" from the NES craziness of the 80s, you'd probably hand over a month's paycheck for one of these beauties just to take a trip down memory lane. We know we would. The gamepad for Windows Mobile isn't exactly a new concept, but add in NES emulation -- even though there are a ton of portable NES emulators out there -- and we're sold.
