Much like their Xbox-playing counterparts, folks hoping to do some remote Tomb Raiding with an online pal on PS3 and PC will have to cool their jets for a bit. According to a press release from Crystal Dynamics, the PS3 and PC versions of the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light are still slated to arrive on September 28 -- however, contrary to what was previously promised, the new versions will not have online co-op capabilities until "a later date." A Crystal Dynamics representative explained the 360 online co-op update will go live "in the very near future." We've followed up to find out if it will arrive alongside the new versions, as was announced last month. We've also contacted Crystal Dynamics to get a better idea of what "a later date" entails for the PS3 and PC versions. For the developer's sake, we sure hope it means "before we plan to launch all those DLC expansions later this year."

Lionhead announced today that the Fable 2 online co-op patch is locked and loaded on its end for day one of release -- now the developer just needs to get through Microsoft certification. This means when gamers try to enter Albion for the first time in their respective regions (beginning with North America October 21st), there should be a patch happily waiting to be downloaded. At least reviewers will now be able to test out the online co-op feature and give an informed opinion soon after. We'll raise a virtual pint down at the Cow and Corset with a friend when Fable 2 releases for Lionhead's hard work on resolving this issue.[Via X3F]

We were positively thrilled when Lionhead announced at E3 2008 that their upcoming peasant-murdering, prophylactic-infused RPG, Fable 2, would allow us to murder said peasants with friends in distant lands via an online co-op mode. Unfortunately, a recent post on Microsoft's Gamerscore Blog made a disheartening declaration -- while the local co-op remains in tact, the developer is "still making tweaks" to the game's online mode, so it won't be included with the title come launch day. Before you swear off Molyneux's highly anticipated brainchild, know that later in the same post, it's explained that the feature will come to the title in an auto-update -- Lionhead and Microsoft Game Studios are hoping to make it available within a week of the title's North American launch. We're just glad to know that Fable 2's online co-op mode didn't go the way of the real-time growing trees.[Via X3F]

PS3's much-anticipated LittleBigPlanet will not ship with the online co-op create mode, according to Sony's official US forums. The feature will be added with the "first major update" of the game after launch, but no indication was given as to when we can expect said update. The four-player co-op will still be online and four-player level creation will still be possible -- as long as everyone is sitting in the same room. LBP is slated for release globally at the end of October.[Via PS3 Fanboy]

When Resident Evil 5 drops, you won't be alone against the legions of zombies -- a second player will be able to join in the gory fun as well. The online co-op mode is confirmed at E3, with another player taking control of Sheva, Chris' female companion.Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a while -- Microsoft says that it won't be available until a worldwide simultaneous release on Friday the 13th, March 2009. "Please hang on just a bit longer," they say, "we'll have it to you shortly."Update: Press conference walkthrough video embedded after the cut.
