Remember Meteos? The vertical block sliding? The fast, frantic action, and the maddening tick-tock of the clock at the top of your screen? The sweeping, dramatic story of taking your alien ship into the heart of madness and bombarding it with pretty squares and blocks? The others don't understand. They couldn't possibly comprehend the bloody tears you shed for every planet lost along the way -- every warrior that stood 'til the end and mumbled something heroic in whatever freaky alien language they knew. It's pretty intense, man. But let's talk about this game called Planet Puzzle League, shall we? It's pretty similar to Meteos, minus the ecstatic hyperbole I threw it out above. But don't let the dearth of heart-pounding plot deter you! Planet Puzzle League may forgo the charm of its extraterrestrial brother, but the title more than makes it for its lack of emotional impact with a wealth of gameplay options. It also has the distinction of being pretty much perfect for a gamer on the go, a fact which should make my job a hell of a lot easier and your wallet just a little bit lighter. Grab your penny bank, ladies and gents, and come along with this week's edition of Gaming to Go. The Puzzle League awaits.%Gallery-3456%

Odin Sphere (PS2) Vanillaware's side-scrolling action RPG caught me completely off guard when it came out, but I fell instantly in love with the game's style. Practically everything about Odin Sphere is unique: the circular levels; the gigantic, beautifully-drawn sprites; the bizarre food-crafting mechanics. Toss in a healthy amount of Norse mythology, and you've got one damn fine, under-appreciated game. Here's hoping Vanillaware's upcoming Wii title is up to snuff.

Even with some of us being very late (see: the author of this post), we still managed to get our game on. Races were had in Mario Kart DS and we tasted the utterly horrible, yet very familiar, taste of defeat. Oh well, there is always next week to reclaim our honor as kinda OK at games.Oh, wait, next week is Thanksgiving! Sorry, but we'll have to wait until the following week before getting back to Game Night. It's a holiday and we'll be busy taking various naps fueled by our bellies full of turkey. So, enjoy the holiday and we'll see you guys at Game Night on November 29th!%Poll-5868%

Last night's Game Night was kind of a bust, we must admit. There wasn't that great a turnout and connection problems plagued the participants. But, hey, that's life; we can't control everything. But, there's always next week to look forward to. And, it's also time to reset the poll, so let's get to it! What should be our theme game for 9/13/07? Sound the trumpets, for it is the time of celebration. With it being Thursday and all, we've got conquest on our mind. We're sure you are thinking the same, as you walk through today in a mindless trance. Your thoughts are elsewhere, focused on a single goal: trashing the competition at Game Night.

Even though it is Friday and a cause for celebration, a part of us still weeps for the passing of Game Night. For an hour, it made us feel alive and now we have to return back to our mundane lives, the thought of conquest during Game Night still fresh on our mind. Oh well, there's always next week. As the work week nears its end, Game Night presents itself. Like a small rodent ducking its head out from a hole in the ground, it quickly scans the surrounding landscape for predators. Oh, but it doesn't know about us, as we spring from behind it, grip it and wrestle it to the ground. We have conquered the beast and now prepare for Game Night!

Last night's session was, again, hindered by Nintendo's servers. For some reason, everyone reported lag across the board. That isn't to say we weren't able to get our game on, though. Oh well, can't win 'em all, eh? Hit up the poll to vote for next week's theme game and we'll see you there! What should be our theme game for 8/30/07? Picross DS Clubhouse Games Planet Puzzle League

When we woke this morning, it was very reminiscent of Christmas mornings as a child, as we sprung out of bed and ran out to the living room with a large smile on our face. We knew this day of all days would ensure that we got to at least play one game, no matter how busy we are. Are you ready to take that hour-long break with us later on?

Did you folks have fun at Game Night yesterday? We sure did, as not only did we manage to get some Tetris DS in, but also a rather lengthy match of Metroid Prime Hunters. As far as Game Nights go, it was one of the better ones. Yet, there were still some people who just couldn't get in on the action. So, this week, we want you to tell a friend about Game Night and get him or her to commit to attend. If they don't, give us their address and we'll drag them there, kicking and screaming. Sadly, personal obligations kept me from attending Game Night yesterday. This will not be the case next week, so I anxiously await that day. Until then, let's all sit back, relax, and prepare to enjoy the weekend. And, before you go and enjoy the upcoming days off from responsibility (for most of you, we imagine), why not vote for next week's theme game below? You might notice something different.
