Last year, Playboy Magazine announced that it would stop printing fully-nude pictures because, hey, the internet exists. But, one of the outfits that caused Playboy to abandon such imagery is now launching a competing publication in the real world. RedTube Magazine has been described by its founders as a "men's general lifestyle monthly with a photo-heavy emphasis on explicit sexual content." The company also explains that the new venture will serve as a bridge between the jazz magazines of the 20th century and whatever the hell you can get on Google if you disable SafeSearch.

Think about the last time you bought something off of Craigslist. Was it a computer? Did you happen to find anything ancient and awesome on it? Most might shudder to think what could be procured from older tech these days, but one Redditor lucked out when they purchased an old 1980s Macintosh SE to flip into a working computer.

He'd had a terrible morning and an even worse afternoon. Exhausted by human interaction, Roger returned home, eager to slam a beer, throw on his bathrobe and lie back in his big leather recliner while Rhonda gave him one of her signature hand jobs. Unfortunately, Rhonda was programmed to make him dinner that night and, anticipating his mood, readjusted her earlier, more optimistic projections for the day's outcome.

Today I learned that porn site YouPorn has its own eSports team. Unfortunately for the site, I also learned that the Electronic Sports League (ESL) has decided that Team YP can't compete in its eSport events, which include Street Fighter 5, Counter Strike and Starcraft. ESL told VentureBeat that "advertising pornography is not legal in the markets we operate in, and the vast majority of partners we're working with have strict 'no drugs, no alcohol, no pornography' rules that we've contractually taken on board."

For decades, people have been renting naughty movies to watch in the privacy of their hotel rooms. Now, with virtual reality becoming more prevalent, one company is experimenting with a combination of the two -- VR porn room service. To realise this X-rated dream, porn studio VR Bangers has teamed up with AuraVisor, a British company that crowdfunded its first headset on Indiegogo and Kickstarter last year. The complete package will soon be trialled in Las Vegas hotels, cost $19.99 a pop, and offer a few different scenarios for people to choose from.

Since Monday, porn site XHamster.com has refused access to any user with a North Carolina IP address. The site says the block will stay in place until the state repeals House Bill 2, which prevents cities and counties passing rules that protect LGBT rights. "We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate," said the company's spokesman in official statement sent to The Huffington Post.

The true test of virtual reality is upon us. As the consumer version of the Oculus Rift rolls into homes across the globe, the world is watching intently to see if this is truly virtual reality's moment. But what will be its killer application? Will our basest desires drive adoption as they have with previous mediums? Or has porn been dethroned as a technological kingmaker? Executive Editor Christopher Trout and Managing Editor Terrence O'Brien argue the finer points of VR porn.

Pornhub is streaming skin flicks in virtual reality

If last week's slurry of video game virtual reality news left you craving something a little more carnal in nature, you're in luck. Skin site Pornhub has announced it's launching a category dedicated entirely to VR sex videos. Pornhub says that these are optimized for mobile VR on Android, iOS and Samsung's Gear VR, as well as being playable in the Oculus Rift and "most" other PC-based headsets. And unlike KinkVR's subscription model, these videos are free. Oh, and if you're left high and dry without a set of VR goggles, the flesh peddlers say that they'll be giving away 10,000 pair of them. Knowing how cheap Google Cardboard is, that's probably similar to what it'll ship out. And on that note, Pornhub says it's baked Cardboard support into its Android app, and 360 degree video will even be supported via mobile browser on the platform. Keep in mind though that you'll need a free hand to keep that VR system on your face.

Earlier today, T-Mobile announced that it was adding a number of new content providers to its Binge On initiative. The blog post announcing the new additions, which included YouTube and Google Play Movies, listed a number of services by name before mentioning "and others." It turns out "others" meant adult entertainment. That's right, you can now watch porn on T-Mobile without having it count against that monthly data allotment.

Indonesia has banned Tumblr, the internet's GIF factory and pizza pleasure palace, because the site hosts pornographic content, the BBC reports. Indonesia's Information Ministry apparently didn't consult Tumblr or its parent company, Yahoo, before blocking the site. "We must ban the site first and tell them later," Information Ministry e-business director Azhar Hasyim told the BBC.

UK proposes to starve porn sites that don't verify age

The UK has banded about the idea of forcing porn sites to implement age gates for some time now, and today it's turning that talk into walk. New legislation proposed by the government would require any provider of adult content to verify the age of visitors, or face attacks on their revenue streams and other services that keep them online. In doing so, it hopes to protect the innocence of youth by bringing internet pornography in line with other mediums, such as top-shelf magazines, adult DVDs and linear TV broadcasts. Age verification is already mandatory for UK-based porn sites, but under the new proposals, the UK government wants to hold the whole internet to account.

A first-hand quest for the future of sex, Part 2: Mission diverted

I'd just returned from CES, where it was obvious that sex and tech were finally coming together. Despite my rather unfortunate experiences weeks prior, I was feeling inspired. That's when Kiiroo came into my life. Like a serendipitous orgasm harbinger, it promised to take my "sex life to new heights" through teledildonics. Teledildonics is the sex industry's contribution to the Internet of Things, allowing users to remote control vibrators and sex sleeves, sync those toys to VR videos, interact with an adult cam star in real-time, "feel" a long-distance lover and, as I'd come to discover, bring new meaning to one of my favorite internet initialisms: GFY. NSFW Warning: This story may contain links to and descriptions or images of explicit sexual acts. This is the conclusion of a two-part series exploring the future of sex. To read the first installment, click here at your own risk.

Over the past two months, I've been intimately involved with a series of machines. On a mission to find the future of sex, I've masturbated into a crowdfunded sex sleeve, been transported into a porn star's anus and quite literally fucked myself. On Friday, I reached my final destination. I can now say that it is a clumsy, unremarkable future. NSFW Warning: This story may contain links to and descriptions or images of explicit sexual acts. This is the first in a two-part series exploring the future of sex. To read the conclusion, click here at your own risk.

Internet porn just claimed another casualty. Penthouse has announced that it's dropping its print magazine after 51 years of publication -- from an unspecified point in the future, you'll have to go online to get those articles and racy photos (okay, mostly the photos). There will be a transition period, if you're not yet ready to ditch paper. Also, the move will see the magazine close its New York City offices and move into the Los Angeles location of its parent company, FriendFinder Networks.

She lay back on a tan leather chaise lounge in a luxury suite in a Las Vegas hotel, a VR headset covering her eyes, surrounded by strangers and coworkers. She squirmed with embarrassment, screamed, giggled and covered her already-obstructed eyes. Engadget's Director of Production, Heather Frank, was experiencing the future of pornography firsthand, and I captured it all for posterity. When I went to add the video to my collection of #VRPorn reaction posts, I did what any socially responsible millennial would and asked our hosts for their Instagram handle. As it turns out, Instagram was a touchy subject.

For years CES shared the Las Vegas Convention Center with the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE). But when AEE decided to reschedule its show in 2012, the biggest tech show on earth lost its adult edge. That is, until this year. Over the course of three days, I met with four companies showcasing sex-related products in and around the show.

Six years ago, I exited the porn industry after the studio I worked for succumbed to a decline in DVD sales. Toward the end, I was one of two employees. I answered phones, designed box covers, scripted Brazilian gang bangs and spent hours airbrushing razor burn and other skin conditions in Photoshop. I thought I'd seen everything until I saw inside Ella Nova's anus.

  • California's new online hub helps you fight revenge porn

If you're a victim of revenge porn, the attempt to fight back can prove daunting. How do you get someone to pull the offending images? Where do you turn to for legal aid? California wants to offer some help. The state has launched a cyberexploitation hub that gives victims, police and companies the resources they need to respond to (and ideally, prevent) revenge porn. You can find a pro bono lawyer, for instance, or the best practices for website owners trying to protect their visitors. No, the hub isn't guaranteed to fix anything -- but it might provide an important first step when you're hurt, lost and seeking justice. [Image credit: Getty Images]
