Whether you're simply behind on your gaming or have emerged from a block of ice after that hiking expedition in Antarctica went awry ten years ago, you may like to catch up on some of Ubisoft's PC wares. Ubisoft week kicks off on Steam with Prince of Persia discounts
Ubisoft's chosen to kick off its week-long series of discounts on Ubisoft titles with the company's most acrobatic franchise. For today only, shoppers can grab individual Prince of Persia titles for 66 percent off, or the Prince of Persia complete pack for 75 percent off.
Prince of Persia Trilogy HD listed by GameFly for March
Rental service GameFly has a listing for Prince of Persia Trilogy HD with a March 22, 2011 release date. The game was previously announced as being disc-based only for Europe, Middle East and African territories. All three games were released in North America via digital distribution on the PlayStation Network. We've contacted Ubisoft for comment, but the publisher has yet to respond. GameFly tells us it hasn't changed its listing policy, which means it will "simply post information as it is supplied to [GameFly] by the publishers."
European PSN releases for December 15
It's time to slap on some eyeliner and start screaming "Dahakaaa!" at random intervals throughout the day -- the Prince of Persia trilogy's latter two installations, Warrior Within and Two Thrones, arrive on the European PSN today. Not down with time-bending action-platformers? Well, the exact opposite of that, Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, is also available today -- or, better yet, the Billy Joel track pack for Rock Band 3. We can't think of anything further away from epic Persian adventures than "Only the Good Die Young." PSN Tuesday: eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh X-Men Arcade
For those who don't have all the X-Men Arcade tracks forever burned into their brain, here's the reference for the headline. This week's PSN update is packed with downloadable superheroes. The full game of Prototype is available, along with the aforementioned X-Men Arcade and the flipping good Marvel Pinball. Also available is emo Prince from Warrior Within who, when he isn't slicing up bad guys, is constantly cutting himself as an ever-present reminder of his pain for not selling enough copies of The Sands of TIme, the result of which forced him to wear "man-scara" in the sequel. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within HD all the rage on PSN today
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the more marketable, over-reactionary follow-up to The Sands of Time, will be available later today on the North American PSN for $15. The game runs in 720p HD and includes stereoscopic 3D for those who have the tech in their homes. Remember, if you live across the pond that you can pick up the whole PoP HD series on one disc in the Prince of Persia Trilogy. Our favorite part of of the announcement post on PlayStation Blog is this line: "Long flowing jet-black hair + man-scara + M-Rating + Godsmack = Best. Week. Ever." We posit that the inverse conclusion is also applicable.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time HD on PSN today
Well, that didn't take very long. A high-definition update of Ubisoft Montreal's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is set to arrive on the PlayStation Network starting today. Launching in Europe later this week as a single Blu-ray disc, the remastered Prince of Persia Trilogy will be brought to the American PlayStation store in three separate flavors: original, smoldering and nutty. According to the PlayStation Blog, Warrior Within (that game they made because you didn't buy Sands of Time in the first place) and The Two Thrones will launch on PSN in December. All three adventures boast 720p resolution, Trophies, 3D support and $14.99 price tags. That's $45 for the original trilogy -- and you can probably find The Forgotten Sands in a bargain bin if you're looking for even more of the classic Prince's elegant environmental puzzles.
Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell HD collections listed by UK retail site
High-definition updates of last generation's Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia games have popped up again, this time on a UK retail site. Eurogamer points to listings on Zavvi.com of the two Ubisoft trilogies, bundled on PlayStation 3 for £30 MSRP. Splinter Cell has a late November date attached, while PoP is listed for March 2011. Last month, the two HD collections emerged on Amazon France, both with an early November release date. The PS3 already has the God of War Collection out there, with Sly Cooper and ICO / Shadow of the Colossus bundles on the way. We've contacted Ubisoft for official word on the Splinter Cell and PoP bundle matter, but should that fail we have an asset on standby to extract the information ... through any means necessary.
PC 'deluxe edition' of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands includes Sands of Time
If you're considering a purchase of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands on PC, why not get a version that comes with one or two extra games? A pre-ordered copy of the Digital Deluxe Edition, available on Steam, includes a map, a soundtrack, two extra skins, and, most importantly, a free copy of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to play while you wait for the June 8 release of Forgotten Sands. You'll also get a free copy of Sands of Time's sequel, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. In fact, you'll get that freebie on Steam whether you buy the $60 deluxe version or the $50 regular version. The only reason you may not want to jump on either of these deals is that playing these games right before Forgotten Sands may make the new game seem even more lackluster.
