It's a stew! Next week's Rock Band Weekly DLC is a mixture of artists from disparate genres of music. Actually, now that we said that, we're sure some Pandora nut will tell us the tonal harmonic frequencies of each band's base structure are similar -- but we digress. So, figure out if you want to -- do you, do you want to -- purchase some of these tracks next week?Franz Ferdinand 3-pack (440 / $5.50) "Do You Want To" (160 / $2) "Lucid Dreams" (160 / $2) "Take Me Out" (160 / $2) Individual Songs (160 / $2) "Smooth Criminal" -- Alien Ant Farm (160 / $2) "Blue Sky" -- Allman Brothers (160 / $2) "Midnight Rider" -- Allman Brothers (160 / $2) "Drain the Blood" -- Distillers (160 / $2) "Naked Eye" -- Luscious Jackson (160 / $2) "Idealistic Types" -- Prong (160 / $2) "The Banishment" -- Prong (160 / $2) All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively. Toby Keith has an even stranger line dancing partner for Rock Band Wiikly than he did for the regular update a couple weeks back. Joining him for the Wii upload will be a Mr. Malmsteen, first name: Yngwie. Poor guitarists, prepare for blisters or lube those fingers up properly ... but not so much that the controller flies out of your hands and into the TV.Individual songs (200 Wii points apiece): "Beer for My Horses" -- Toby Keith "I Love This Bar" -- Toby Keith "She's a Hottie" -- Toby Keith "Should've Been a Cowboy" -- Toby Keith "Who's Your Daddy?" -- Toby Keith "How Do You Like Me Now" -- Toby Keith "Warriors of Time" -- Black Tide "Waking The Demon" -- Bullet For My Valentine "New Slang" -- The Shins "Caprici Di Diablo" -- Yngwie Malmsteen "Damnation Game" -- Yngwie Malmsteen "Red Devil" -- Yngwie Malmsteen All tracks are masters and will be available for download tomorrow, April 21. If you're a fan of commercially successful rock groups, then you're in for a treat as Styx and REO Speedwagon are combined into a 7-pack next week for Rock Band Weekly. There was some premature announculation with Rock Band Weekly this week. We received a release on Monday that Toby Keith was going solo with a six-pack for next week's DLC, but today we find out he'll be bringing some friends along. Well, we don't exactly see The Shins being BFF with Keith, but for the purposes of this post we imagine them all line dancing together.Toby Keith 6-Pack (800 / $10) "Beer for My Horses" (160 / $2) "I Love This Bar" (160 / $2) "She's a Hottie" (160 / $2) "Should've Been a Cowboy" (160 / $2) "Who's Your Daddy?" The announcement for next week's Rock Band DLC, featuring Toby Keith, has arrived five days earlier than normal. Just to clear up any potential confusion: Journey, Benatar and a Mr. Squarepants are arriving this week, while Toby Keith is due in the week of April 7. We can't wait to see people line dancing (plastic peripherals in tow) to Keith's illustrious country career.Toby Keith 6-Pack (800 / $10) "Beer for My Horses" (160 / $2) "I Love This Bar" (160 / $2) "She's a Hottie" (160 / $2) "Should've Been a Cowboy" (160 / $2) "Who's Your Daddy?" Pearl Jam's breakthrough 1991 debut album, Ten, becomes Rock Band's latest piece of grungy DLC next week. The album features several tracks that owned the radio airwaves in the early '90s, along with the song that inspired one of the most iconic music videos of all time -- "Jeremy." Ironically, after the success of Ten, the band became known for refusing to make videos for its songs.Pearl Jam's Ten (1440 / $18) "Once" (160 / $2) "Even Flow" (160 / $2) "Why Go" (160 / $2) "Black" (160 / $2) "Jeremy" (160 / $2) "Oceans" (160 / $2) "Porch" (160 / $2) "Garden" (160 / $2) "Deep" (160 / $2) "Release" (160 / $2) "Master/Slave" (160 / $2) All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

The sync is back on between Rock Band Wiikly and Rock Band Weekly. There was a little hiccup last week, but it appears Wii rockers are ready to start receiving the "new" DLC again. The Wii's Rock Band Music Store also receives three tracks from The Who, which were previously released on the PS3 and Xbox 360.Individual songs (200 Wii points apiece): "Pick Up the Pieces" - Average White Band "Shining Star" - Earth Wind & Fire "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine - Pt 1" - James Brown "Thrash Unreal" - Against Me! Get up, get on up, as next week's Rock Band DLC brings some funkified freak and alternative rock. The funk pack includes the legendary performer James Brown and is labeled "01," which we'll take as some small sign that more funk is on the way. There's also several individual tracks from modern bands.Get the Funk Out 01 3-pack (440 / $5.50) "Pick Up the Pieces" - Average White Band (160 / $2) "Shining Star" - Earth Wind & Fire (160 / $2) "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine - Pt 1" - James Brown (160 / $2) Individual songs: "Thrash Unreal" - Against Me! 03.09.2009

It seems that the sync achieved between Rock Band Wiikly and Rock Band Weekly last week may not be a standard occurrence as was once expected. This week's list of regurgitated tracks for the Wii's Rock Band Music Store features some relatively new DLC from a couple weeks ago, with others from the inaugural edition of Rock Band Weekly.Individual songs (200 Wii points apiece): "Blackened" - Metallica "Ride the Lightning" - Metallica "My Iron Lung" - Radiohead "Joker & the Thief" - Wolfmother "Calling Dr. Love" - KISS "Moonage Daydream" - David Bowie "Train in Vain" - The Clash "Kool Thing" - Sonic Youth "Why Do You Love Me" - Garbage "3 Dimes Down" - Drive By Truckers "Can't Let Go" - Lucinda Williams "People Got a Lotta Nerve" - Neko Case "Time Bomb" - Old 97s "Satellite Radio" - Steve Earle The tracks will be available tomorrow, March 10. We've contacted Harmonix to find out how it plans to do the syncing from here on out, as it was originally supposed to have the same new tracks across all platforms starting last week.

It appears that Rock Band Wiikly and Rock Band Weekly have achieved sync, as Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood album and No Doubt will be available this week on all current-gen consoles. The Wii's Rock Band Music Store still has a lot of catching up to do, so it also receives a reconstituted serving of Jimmy Eat World.Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood (200 Wii points apiece): "Love Struck Baby" "Pride and Joy" "Texas Flood" "Tell Me" "Rude Mood" "Testify" "Mary Had a Little Lamb" "Dirty Pool" "I'm Cryin" "Lenny" Individual songs (200 Wii points apiece): "New" - No Doubt "Futures" - Jimmy Eat World "Lucky Denver Mint" - Jimmy Eat World "Sweetness" - Jimmy Eat World The tracks will be available tomorrow, March 3, and videos for all of this week's tracks are after the break.

It's the Flood! Except this one comes from Texas and not an ancient circular super-weapon floating in space. As we learned yesterday, Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood album will indeed be next week's Rock Band DLC. Tagging along for the ride will be No Doubt.Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood (1280 / $16) "Love Struck Baby" (160 / $2) "Pride and Joy" (160 / $2) "Texas Flood" (160 / $2) "Tell Me" (160 / $2) "Rude Mood" (160 / $2) "Testify" (160 / $2) "Mary Had a Little Lamb" (160 / $2) "Dirty Pool" (160 / $2) "I'm Cryin" (160 / $2) "Lenny" (160 / $2) Individual song: "New" - No Doubt (160 / $2) All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

    02.23.2009

This week's Rock Band Wii music store update contains The Cars' 1978 self-titled debut record. Each track is sold separately, so it'll cost $3 more than if rockers had purchased the album on Xbox 360 or PS3.The Cars (200 Wii points apiece) "Good Times Roll" "My Best Friend's Girl" "Just What I Needed" "I'm in Touch with Your World" "Don't Cha Stop" "You're All I've Got Tonight" "Bye Bye Love" "Moving in Stereo" "All Mixed Up" The tracks will be available tomorrow, February 24, and videos for all this week's songs are after the break. This is the last week in February and we've yet to see indication that the Wii's sync with "new" Rock Band Weekly tracks will still occur this month. Currently, the Harmonix press release notes it'll happen "soon." We're following up with the developer to see if there's a new sync window.

Some alternative-country (yes, that's actually a sub-genre of music) and three songs from Jimmy Eat World will be making their way to the Rock Band Music Store next week.As much as we'd love to discuss the music that's included in the Alt Country Pack, we decided to focus our attention on the Jimmy Eat World tracks since we already googled some interesting facts about the songs. Were you aware that "Lucky Denver Mint" was in the flick Never Been Kissed? Or that "Sweetness" was a song included in NHL 2003? We bet you didn't know that "Futures" was used in First Decent -- now you do.Alt Country Pack (680 / $8.49) "3 Dimes Down" by Drive By Truckers (160 / $2) "Can't Let Go" by Lucinda Williams (160 / $2) "People Got a Lot of Nerve" by Neko Case (160 / $2) "Time Bomb (LIVE)" by Old 97s (160 / $2) "Satellite Radio" by Steve Earle (160 / $2) Jimmy Eat World Pack (440 / $5.49) "Futures" by Jimmy Eat World (160 / $2) "Lucky Denver Mint" by Jimmy Eat World (160 / $2) "Sweetness" by Jimmy Eat World (160 / $2)

Selections from Nirvana's breakthrough album, Nevermind, are offered up as this week's content for the Wii's Rock Band music store. As we pointed out last October, when these tracks released on XBM and PSN, notable songs from Nevermind that are unavailable to download are "Come as You Are" and "Smells like Teen Spirit." Both "In Bloom" and "Drain You" are available on Rock Band and its sequel, respectively. Nirvana (200 Wii points apiece) "Breed" "Lounge Act" "On a Plain" "Polly" "Something in the Way" "Stay Away" "Territorial Pissings" Videos for the tracks can be found after the break. No word yet if the Wii's sync with "new" Rock Band Weekly tracks will still occur this month, but the press release from Harmonix notes it'll happen "soon."

It's time to get more human than human. Next week's Rock Band DLC announcement brings us the stunning revelation that we might actually learn the lyrics to White Zombie's "More Human Than Human." It's actually quite the stunning realization, as that song was inescapable when it released in the mid-'90s. Then again, most of the times we rocked to it, we were .... oh, hey, let's look at the tracks.Individual Songs "Wasted Again" - Turbonegro (160 / $2) "Black Sunshine" - White Zombie (160 / $2) "More Human than Human" - White Zombie (160 / $2) Videos for these songs can be found after the break. Viacom is content with the two million units sold of Rock Band 2 since launch, but expected more from the series. PaidContent reports that the media conglomerate sees the Rock Band franchise as a bright spot in what it otherwise expects to be a very difficult year, particularly with ad revenues getting "worse before it gets better."Harmonix may not have a new Rock Band this year, but it's certainly continuing its streak of DLC content for the platform and will release the The Beatles game (for the benefit of Mr. Kite) later this year.
