It hasn't been long since the last Rock Band Track Pack hit. If you're done singing classics like "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" from the Country Track Pack, you'll be glad to know that the next disc-based expansion is coming on October 13th for every console equipped with plastic instruments. The release also happens to coincide with Brütal Legend, much to the joy of metalheads everywhere.Following the footsteps of the Country Track Pack, the upcoming Metal Pack will include a number of songs that aren't available as DLC yet. Six brand new songs will debut through the disc from Blue Oyster Cult, Hawkwind, I Mother Earth, Motorhead, Nazareth and Rage Against the Machine. As with previous Track Packs, this one will be retailing for $29.99 on all platforms.Check out the entire track listing after the break.

A recent addition to the ESRB ratings list reveals an upcoming "Metal" track pack for Rock Band for PS2, PS3, Wii and 360. The ESRB rated the expansion with a "Teen" rating due to the upcoming pack's inclusion of songs with expletives "as well as allusions to violence." It's a good thing the game doesn't make detailed references to violence!Example lyrics given by the ESRB reveal two of the track pack's songs: "D.O.A." by Haunted and "Transmaniacon MC" by Blue Oyster Cult, a brand new addition to the Rock Band franchise. A leaked achievement list also reveals "Killed by Death" by Motorhead, "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth, and "Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind as new songs exclusive to the pack. Considering the last Rock Band track pack debuted 13 new songs unavailable as DLC, we're confident that this new addition will do the same.Rock Band: Metal Track Pack hasn't been announced yet, but considering the reliability of the ESRB's ratings, we expect EA and MTV Games to announce the full track list, along with the track pack itself, within the next few weeks.[Thanks, Justin R.!]

The Rock Band track packs have been rather unexciting for the many of us that have internet access (read: you). The previous packs compiled already-available DLC onto a single disc at a slightly discounted price making it attractive exclusively to those that -- for one reason or another -- can't buy songs from the in-game music store.Looks like things will change for the upcoming country music Track Pack. Available July 21st on every platform, the Track Pack will offer exclusive songs that are new for the Rock Band franchise. In fact, 13 songs will be brand new, making the Track Pack a much more exciting purchase for country music-lovin' Rock Band aficionados. The $29.99 disc will feature 21 songs from the Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, Kenny Rogers, Shania Twain, Willie Nelson and more. You can read the entire track listing after the break.

MTV Games, Harmonix and EA have announced the May 19 release date for Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii for $29.99. While GameStop revealed the same date and price a few weeks back, following an ESRB listing a few weeks before that, today we have official confirmation, along with the full setlist (which is set in stone after the break).Additionally, purchasers of the Xbox 360 or PS3 version can download -- free of charge -- the on-disc tracks onto the console's hard drive (via Xbox Live or PSN), integrating the songs with any preexisting Rock Band DLC. It's worth noting that the Track Pack offers a reduced cost per song ($1.50) when compared to the $1.99 single-track DLC price. Of course, if you're as impulsive as we are (we done bought all these classics -- twice), then this entire post isn't really worth noting at all.

Without a doubt, the "Classic Rock" Rock Band Track Pack is real. The ESRB clued us into its existence, but a recent listing at GameStop reveals a price and release date: May 19th for $29.99. A PlayStation Network Trophy list also reveals additional details on the contents of the Track Pack. If it's anything like the previously released Rock Band expansion disc, players will be able to enjoy the disc with or without an original copy of Rock Band or Rock Band 2. We can expect 20 songs on the disc including: "All Right Now" -- Free "Can't Stand Losing You" -- The Police "Closer to the Heart" -- Rush "Holiday in Cambodia" -- Dead Kennedys "The Joker" -- Steve Miller Band "Peace of Mind" -- Boston "Rock and Roll Band" -- Boston "Take the Money and Run" -- Steve Miller Band EA and Harmonix still haven't officially confirmed the Track Pack, but we expect it to will available on all Rock Band platforms: PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.

If you're on the fence about whether or not to pick up the next Rock Band track pack, then these screens should help to assure you that everything is just like Rock Band, except with AC/DC. Does it look like $40? That probably depends on how you feel about the eighteen songs on the track list. The AC/DC Live Rock Band Track Pack is scheduled for November 16.%Gallery-36121% Gallery: Rock Band

For those about to rock ... EA would like to sell you a disc! The company has announced a collection of live recordings from AC/DC to be released on November 16 for Wii in the US for $40, and in other regions "starting in December." Pricing for other regions can be found at the link. The AC/DC Live Rock Band Track Pack will contain 18 songs pulled from years of AC/DC live recordings, in a new mix created specifically for Rock Band. The press release for the disc promises "more than 99 minutes of game play for each instrument." Check out the list of songs after the break! It's ... pretty much exactly what you'd expect from an AC/DC collection! The press release says that all tracks from this collection will be playable in both Rock Band and Rock Band 2 on the PS3 and 360 via an authentication code. But it's also a standalone game (and, in the Wii's case, apparently just a standalone game), so you don't actually have to have either Rock Band game to play it. Just instruments.[Update: Like the new AC/DC album, this game is Wal-Mart exclusive.]%Gallery-19119%

  • Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1 coming to PS2, Wii this July

"I'm perfectly satisfied," you say to yourself as your fingers dart across spongy, fake frets. "I don't need those fancy high-definition graphics. As long as I can make out the notes, I'm happy. Heck, I can even see them when I close my eyes." Indeed, you're more than delighted with the PS2 version of Rock Band, the musical friend that keeps you company as you rock out in the basement. Alone.EA, Harmonix and MTV Games can't help you with your graphics or self-deception issues, but they can offer you some of the downloadable tracks that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners of Rock Band have been enjoying. Mind you, they won't be "downloadable" so much as they'll be purchasable for $29.99. The Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1, headed for Wii (the full game is out on June 22) and PlayStation 2 on July 15th, will contain 20 songs from such artists as David Bowie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Weezer and Oasis. Peer past the break for the full list and see if you go, "Ah, there's that song I like! I will gladly purchase this standalone set of tracks! I'm still talking to myself!"
