  • Class abilities come to light in Faxion Online announcement

It looks like players of the highly anticipated PvP-centric free-to-play MMORPG Faxion Online will use a wide variety of abilities and powers to experience the core of the game. While someone will raise those levels and sharpen those skills the old fashioned way, she can also improve on those abilities using queued, offline skill training similar to EVE Online's. Abilities include Shockwave, a wave of force that will knock back enemies and deal damage; Legion, an ability that only Hell players will get (because Hell is the cooler side) that releases spirits into the bodies of its victims (hopefully while Raining Blood plays in the background;) and Tribunal, which allows players to flourish a weapon, causing all sorts of bodily damage to nearby enemies. That's not all: there are 50 abilities per class available at launch, allowing multi-class cleverness or single-specialization accuracy. All of the abilities grow normally with time, but their advancement can be sped up using microtransactions. Some abilities will be level-limited, however, to ensure that no one player has such an advantage. We visited UTV True Games during GDC Online, so check out that tour here. The game seems to be in great hands -- its developers harken from the lands of Ultima Online, Shadowbane, and many other popular titles. Keep an eye out because the game is expected to hit beta stages later this year. That means you still have time to download some Dio. Or, if you're on the Heaven side, here's something more your speed. %Gallery-113832%

We can't help it. Every time we see an image of the above night-time light show, Ronnie James Dio comes straight to mind for a few of the staffers here. That said, many travelers in the Lord of the Rings Online seem to love the rainbows and auroras that come at night - and the team here loves to see them! This new perspective on a fan favorite comes to us from Imrael "the True", who is a member of Pie Lover's Society on the Landroval server. Imrael writes in: I was running through Eregion recently with my level 57 Captain in the Lord of the Rings Online recently when I saw this rainbow hanging in the midnight sky. It struck me as both odd and beautiful at the same time. Feeling left out? There's no need to be. Just snap a screenshots of you (or others) enjoying some aspect of your favorite game. Send them to oneshots AT massively DOT com, and we'll show them to the world. Don't forget to add in your name, the name of the game, and a quick description too! %Gallery-9798%

  • Dio cut from Brutal Legend, replaced by Tim Curry

The "Holy Diver" himself, Ronnie James Dio of heavy metal band Dio, has reportedly been cut from Brütal Legend's voice actor list. Dio's management confirmed to Blabbermouth the removal of the lead singer's voice from the game, not citing any specific reasons, though it noted that actor Tim Curry will be filling the position.Speculation surrounding the cut points to a longstanding feud between Brütal Legend's "Guardian of Metal" Ozzy Osbourne and Dio, though we're not so sure that their feud would carry over into the Double Fine-developed, EA-published title. To be honest with you though, we're still reeling from the lack of inclusion of any members of Slayer. "Raining Blood" playing while the act itself takes place in game -- these things write themselves, people![Thanks, The Weaponeer] [Image credit]
