First, you should know that Telltale has released the Sam & Max Complete Pack, which crams the first two seasons of the episodic Sam & Max series along with the currently 'airing' third season, The Devil's Playhouse, all into one package. The second thing you should know -- please, pay attention -- is that the Complete Pack is currently on sale for the ludicrously low price of $49.99, one heckuva deal considering the usual $95 price tag. If you've been looking for an excuse to dip your toes into the delightfully mad world of Sam & Max, this is it. Just do it quickly, because the sale ends June 2 at midnight PT. Mac users take note: only Seasons 2 and 3 are currently compatible with OS X. Telltale plans to port Season 1 "eventually," noting that its older code makes the porting process more difficult than the newer seasons. A Telltale purchase counts for both Windows and OS X versions, so Mac users will be able to download Season 1 free of charge once the port is finished.

Hey, remember that "totally unconfirmed" report that stated Telltale would be bringing its whole catalog to the Mac and, furthermore, would be showing off Mac versions of its games at Macworld? You can slide that over to "totally confirmed" now, as Telltale has officially announced that it is indeed bringing its titles to Mac OS. The first game to hit the platform will be Tales of Monkey Island, which is actually available for the Mac right now. Telltale is currently asking fans to decide which game it releases next: Strong Bad, Sam & Max or Wallace and Gromit. Perhaps the best part about it all: Telltale also announced that the Mac versions of its games will be free to anyone who already purchased the PC version. Presumably, that also means that those who buy the Mac version will have access to PC versions. Either way, it means a whole new audience for Telltale's games. The company will be at Macworld this week, showcasing Tales of Monkey Island. Speaking of which, curious Mac gamers out there can grab the demo for Tales of Monkey Island at the Telltale website (and we suggest you do).

We're not big fans of teaser pages, but we do wish there were a few more like the one hinting at more Sam & Max in 2010. The site has now evolved beyond rambling about "a power-mad space gorilla" to ... well, there's still some rambling, but there's also a real deal: The whole first season of Telltale's Sam & Max for just $4.99. If you haven't touched the series or just like buying things really, really cheap, now would be the time to act. Here's to hoping future teasers follow Telltale's lead and lump some utility in with the titillation. [Update: If that price still isn't low enough for you, Telltale's offering one of any episode from any series for free to those who complete this survey. Hop to it!] [Thanks, Dao Jones]

Telltale Games (Sam & Max, Strong Bad) CEO Dan Connors mentioned in a recent interview that WiiWare "requires the most planning" of the online console marketplaces. In fairness, though, he explains that all the current console makers' online storefronts attempt to make content relatable to the audience. Connors notes that Strong Bad was "perfect" for Nintendo, which we're sure has a little bit to do with the enhanced sales after Nintendo's "storage solution" was introduced. Connors doesn't make any further announcements for Telltale's brand of episodic gaming for the Wii, but he does say that the company will continue to evolve the adventure genre and feels the developer will continue growing the adventure genre for "years to come." A positive sign for more potential Telltale titles on the Wii front, perhaps?

Sam and Max are ready to hit the road (ouch!) and make themselves available for freelance detective work on Xbox Live Arcade. Telltale has announced that the previously released first two seasons of adventure for the dog detective and his psychotic rabbity-thing partner are "upcoming," but no dates nor pricing have been revealed.Sam & Max: Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space will be the new XBLA names given to seasons one and two, respectively. The titles will be released as full-season bundles -- we hear that winter is a real pain to pack in there.%Gallery-6517%

Sam and Max: Season One has finally released on the Wii. We've been talking about the duo coming to the Wii for some time now. Has the wait been worth it? There haven't been that many reviews yet, so we'll keep updating this post when they come in. But, that's not to say a few outlets haven't tossed their two cents in. So, without further delay, let's get to the scores. 1UP (67/100) explains you'll need lots of patience to get through this one: "The game's still fun and unusual, and it's worth checking out if only to enjoy some of the more clever writing in gaming. But don't forget your patience -- you'll need lots." Game Informer (70/100) found the gameplay to be lacking: "When the laughter dies and some of the jokes fall flat, however, Sam & Max teeters as its gameplay is unable to support much interest for some stretches." [Sept 2008, p.105] Nintendo Power (70/100) says the game isn't really that funny: "There are moments of genuine hilarity, but the humor too often feels overwrought or simply falls flat." • Play it again, Sam ... and Max

While the first Wii media for the upcoming Sam and Max: Season One wasn't particularly enlightening, it was pretty funny -- a staple of the S&M (wow, bet Telltale didn't think that one through) series. That has all changed with the latest trailer, as the titular characters give us a sneak peek at their entire adventure catalogue. Many gamers may have missed out on the comedy duo's episodic capers during its run on the PC, so the chance to pick up the entire first season on the adventure-capable Wii is a no-brainer. You'll find noir-style music, wisecrackin' rats and beating up old people in the promising video, so there's no reason it won't be totally awesome. Look out for Reality 2.0 in Q3 2008.%Gallery-23759%

While some of you are still enjoying the beauty of those rad Sam and Max screens from yesterday, the more cunning fans have happened upon a new technology, where pictures actually move! Yeah, it's something else! We're thinking of caling it "Non-Stationary Speedy Image Rearrangement."The first trailer for the Wii release of Sam and Max: Season One has just hit the web, and it's looking mighty fine. We look forward to sinking our teeth into another adventure game for the Wii (after a certain, ah, resounding success), and August can't come quickly enough. Perhaps some kind of Non-Stationary Time Manipulation Device is in order ...%Gallery-23759%[Via GoNintendo]

  • Sam & Max ready to Wii-lease this fall

Telltale finally confirmed to GameSpot that Sam & Max's first season is coming to the Wii this fall. Rumors of Sam & Max bringing their freelance form of policing to the Wii began in early 2007 and became pseudo-confirmed this January in a German press release. The game will be a port of the Sam & Max: Season One PC compilation. Sam & Max for Wii will be published in the US by Dreamcatcher and The Adventure Company. In Europe, JoWood will handle publishing duties of the game, which will have French and German voice acting, with Italian and Spanish subtitles added. No word yet on price for the title, but if it does end up being budget priced (PC was $30), we're very curious to see if this excellent adventure game finds an audience on the Wii. [Thanks Sam]
