Dark Meadow: The Pact free on iOS tonight, Android next month [update]
A free-to-play version of The Dark Meadow, titled Dark Meadow: The Pact, will be available for download on Apple's App Store later tonight, bringing with it a slew of additions to both versions of the game. Dark Meadow: The Pact is identical to the original, save for the fact that it doesn't include any of the "premium" upgrades or content additions also coming to the original version tonight. paying players receive a "Premium Pack" of in-game goodies, which includes five health kits, 13 bombs, 15,000 gold, 150 Sun coins, and a distinct lack of advertisements.Said premium upgrades and additions coming to both versions include iPad 3 Retina Display support, new environments, enemies and bosses, new weapons and amulets, a "Fast Travel" system for moving between floors, a world map, and perhaps most importantly of all, health packs that can be used during combat.An Android version of Dark Meadow: The Pact is scheduled to launch some time in April, optimized for the Intel Tegra 3 processor with "enhanced visuals and physics."Update: We have been informed that the gameplay additions originally reported as only coming to The Dark Meadow are also coming to Dark Meadow: The Pact and have updated the post to reflect this new information.%Gallery-151642%

Phosphor isn't screwing over those who paid for the app, however, adding an "exclusive upgrade" to the game when it converts from $5.99 to gratis."We just want to get the game in as many hands as possible," Chip Sineni told us at GDC 2012.Well, idle hands are the devil's play things. Android users to explore The Dark Meadow in 2012
Phosphor Games has announced that The Dark Meadow is headed to Android devices in early 2012. Should you be rocking a device with a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, The Dark Meadow Deluxe Edition will also offer "enhanced visuals and physics." In addition to these enhancements, the new edition will also feature "new game modes, story elements, levels and characters." If you've yet to experience The Dark Meadow, we'd definitely suggest reading up on the graphically impressive and surprisingly atmospheric horror title.
The Dark Meadow updated, price dropped for Halloween
It's true what The Grand Wizard says, you know, anything really can happen on Halloween. To prove it, Phosphor Games is dropping the price of its excellent, creepy iPhone adventure, The Dark Meadow, to $2.99 from now until Oct. 31. What's that you say? A timed discount isn't proof of Halloween magic? Well, what if we told you the game was also getting an update in addition to the price cut, including 4S optimization, multiple save slots and a whole list of improvements we've got after the break? There are really two kinds of influence in the emerging mobile game market. On the one hand, you've got the sort of race-to-the-bottom developers that attempt to copy whatever's successful to a note, never bringing anything of their own to the equation. But the really exciting thing is seeing smart devs take a page from a game that works and build on it, while never directly copying. Phosphor Games' The Dark Meadow is firmly in the second camp, taking its lead from Infinity Blade, but inventing a few new steps of its own.
The Dark Meadow committed to October 6 launch
The Dark Meadow, Phosphor Games Studio's atmospheric first-person iOS title, is ready to uncover the secrets of App Store success on October 6. The Unreal Engine-powered title's teaser trailer caught our eye in August, conjuring iDevice eye-candy the likes of which we'd previously seen in Infinity Blade. The developer has yet to announce a price. Phosphor is also on our radar for Awakened, a superhero themed game that we actually haven't heard much of since it was revealed in January. Justin Corcoran, CEO of Phosphor, told us this afternoon the studio is "still nurturing and incubating" the game internally, and he looks forward to sharing more in the future.
The Dark Meadow gets grim in teaser clip, Unreal-powered FPS on iOS in August
If you know the name Phosphor Games Studio at all, it's likely because the teaser for its upcoming superhero action game, Awakened, made a big impression on you. But you'll have something much more concrete to remember the studio by this month, when The Dark Meadow heads to iOS. Get your first look in the teaser above. In the Unreal-powered first-person game, you'll try to survive the perils of an abandoned hospital armed only with a sword and crossbow. When you're not flicking and swiping bad guys to death, your skills of observation will be tested as you roam the hospital halls, trying to hunt down a beautiful witch whose death is the secret to your escape (Sounds like my third marriage! Try the veal!).
