Google has made email a much less tedious, junky affair for a lot of us, and it's about to take another step to helping us clean out our inboxes. The block button on Twitter is handy for getting rid of someone who fills your mentions with a bunch of noise. Now, there's a similar option for Gmail. Under the reply and forward options in Google's email app, there's now a block tool to quickly get rid of unwanted noise. Once you block a sender, messages will automatically go to your Spam folder. You can undo the action from the Settings menu, should the need arise. Block is ready to be put to work today on the desktop and it's set to arrive in the Android app over the course of the next week. What's more, the mobile software is also getting the handy unsubscribe feature that's already available on the web.

Call it the Case of the Canceled Sub: Many players have written in to us to report that the "cancel subscription" button on their Star Wars: The Old Republic account pages has mysteriously gone missing. Considering that tomorrow is the one-month mark where accounts are set to be billed following the free month of gameplay for those who started on launch day, we think this is particularly troublesome. Some players have found a workaround link but have received a warning and seen their threads shut down by moderators as violating the Rules of Conduct. BioWare is investigating the situation and has alluded to an issue with certain types of browsers. In the meantime, the CS team has asked those affected customers to contact the company by phone for help cancelling their subscriptions. BioWare is awarding those players who pay for an additional month of game time by March 19th with a special "Founder" title. [Thanks to the many, many people who sent us this tip!] [Update: In a correspondence with us, BioWare has confirmed that it is aware of the website issue and is working to resolve it that the issue is now fixed.]

  • Oh, World of Warcraft, I could never quit you

Over at Casual WoW, Delaney has compiled a detailed list of the various options players are given when attempting to cancel their subscription. Yes, before you can cancel your account, you're required to select a reason from this Blizzard-provided list. (Just above the pulldown menu offering you a list of reasons you see the graphic and text above, including the sad news that, by quitting, you're making this poor peon cry.) Some of the more interesting options include: Content / Unexpected Genre Harassment / Conflict with player/guild Other Game / Ultima Online Technical / No Computer Other / Offline play not available But take a look at the entire list: it's clear that someone at Blizzard has put a good deal of thought into all the reasons players might be leaving. And I agree with Delaney's opinion -- to heck with the stats Blizzard provides us on most often killed monster, etc, I'd love to see a percentage breakdown on these exit stats.
