It seems as the Japanese release of Valkyria Chronicles draws closer, new trailers emerge that focus on one of the main characters of the game. The focus this time around is on a man aptly titled Largo Potter. He's big. He's an anti-tank specialist, apparently. Anyway, the trailer's short and sweet, but gives those anticipating this title something fresh to sink their teeth into. There are also some screenshots from the trailer to look at if you want to see them standing still.

This game was formerly known as Valkyrie of the Battlefield. At least, that was the title in Japan. In the US, it's being called Valkyria Chronicles, but some people are mashing them together into "Valkyrie Chronicles". It's confusing and unnecessary, but just assume any game mentioned with some spelling of valkyrie and some mention of battlefields or chronicles are all the same. That being said, enjoy a handful of new screenshots from the latest trailer detailing the girl with the red hair set into two buns. Her name is ostensibly Rosie and she says hello.[via Akayuki]

Enough with the teasing, Sega! This new trailer, now available on the Japanese PS Store, shows the three main gameplay modes found in Valkyrie of the Battlefield. Since we don't understand Japanese, we just look at the pretty moving pictures and get a general idea of what they're talking about. That's really it for now -- we're waiting for a US release announcement. If we don't get it soon, we'll cry. Then learn Japanese.

Dear Sega, please bring this game to the US. Signed, everyone. That's really all we have to say after looking at the latest massive batch of pictures released for Sega's Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles ... or whatever the official name will end up being. Not only is the sketch-art style fantastic, but the gameplay promises to be something fresh for 3rd person shooter and RPG fans alike. We see some new characters in these pictures and what appears to be the valkyrie of the battlefield. Of course, it may just be our overactive imaginations. Sega, please. No more Sonic. Focus on bringing stuff like this over. We'd all be very proud!

If we were fluent in Japanese, this new Valkyrie of the Battlefield video would probably make a lot more sense. As it stands, we're left with looking at the game's gorgeous visuals and making lame attempts at trying to understand what's going on. Going on just what we can see in the video, it appears that the East Europe Empire Union and the Atlantic Ocean Federal Organization are fighting over rights to mine a mineral called Ragnite. Caught in between is Gallian, a country to the west of the East European empire and possibly the source of Ragnite. It looks as if it will be up to you and your "rag tag" group of countrymen to overthrow the invaders and bring the land back to peace.

If you haven't realized it already, we're pretty big fans of Sega's upcoming strategy game Valkyrie of the Battlefield. In the newest video that's been released, it appears to show pieces of the game's opening cinematics and other gameplay footage that shows the game's unique twist on the strategy genre. While there's been no confirmation that the title will head to the West, it just looks so damn beautiful that we're continuing to hold out hope. Valkyrie is developed by Sega's Overworks studio, the same guys who brought us Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, The House of the Dead and Skies of Arcadia. With such a legendary list of games up its sleeve, we just can't help but be entirely confident that its newest title will have awesomeness in spades.

Sega needs to release one game and one game only outside of Japan, in our subjective eyes. That game is Valkyrie of the Battlefield. Why? Look at our previous coverage of the game -- it really sounds promising. It's got something for everyone and the art style is fantastic. Keeping that stuff in mind, a baker's dozen (plus five) of screenshots have arrived hot out of the Sega oven and once again we are humbled at the coolness this game exudes. See, we had to use baker's dozen or else that metaphor wouldn't have worked. We'd love to get more information on it in the near future!

So far in Valkyrie of the Battlefield's short life, we've only seen the occasional screen or magazine scan, but now Sega has finally taken the wraps of its newest PS3-exclusive RPG.Sega kicked off the cel-shading revolution with Jet Set Radio, but now the company is pushing the technology even further by using it to create gorgeous watercolor-theme graphics, which its calling Canvas. It really does look like a painting has come to life. While we would have loved to see some actual gameplay, there's no denying the game looks great. Let's just cross our fingers that Sega decides to ship this baby worldwide.
