Here you go, a recap of all of last night's Spike TV Video Game Award winners that is viewable (in its entirety) after the break. And if you weren't already aware thanks to this blog's title, Grand Theft Auto IV beat out all other contenders for Game of the Year honors. It's a bit controversial to say the least, but then again, it is the Spike VGAs. Right? Gears of War 2 came away with a pair of the colorful monkey awards, one for best shooter and another for best Xbox 360 game. Fallout 3 also did well and Valve's Left 4 Dead had nothing to be ashamed of either. Clicky the linky below to view it all.

So, the Spike Video Game Awards were on last night. Maybe you watched them. Maybe you didn't. This post, is for those who didn't. We suppose this post is also, technically, for the people that watched the VGAs but want to see some trailers again, but now we're just arguing semantics, really. This is the post where we gather up the WORLD PREMIERE game trailers that debuted during the program. These are the trailers that matter to you. We've got Brütal Legend. We've got Fight Night Round 4. We've got Terminator: Salvation and so much more. Also, on a side note, EA is apparently turning Dante's Inferno into a demon-slaying action game -- replete with muscly-armed hero. Really?

Backstage at the VGAs, GTTV's Geoff Keighley just revealed that Pearl Jam's Ten album will be releasing to Rock Band next March. No, we didn't stutter, Pearl Jam is coming to Rock Band! We suspect all eleven tracks will be included in the album release, but highly doubt any of the bonus material will make the cut. Pearl Jam headed to Rock Band, you know you love it.

Moments ago, on the Spike VGA stage, Gears' lovable Augustus Cole announced the new Gears of War 2 Combustible Map Pack downloadable content. And, just as was rumored, it'll be releasing in a few hours, at 3AM eastern on Monday, December 15th. The Combustible Map Pack will include three new multiplayer maps. "Flood" is the imulsion map that was leaked weeks back and will feature imulsion as an environmental hazard. "Gold Rush" will also be included, a map that was released as part of Gears PC. The third map, "Fuel Station" looks to have been inspired by Gears favorite Fuel Depot, but is not a straight remake. More details still to come (including pretty screenshots) and, per a reliable source, we've been informed the Combustible DLC will set you back a hefty 800 Microsoft points.

It looks like you might just have one more reason to subject yourself to the 2008 Spike Video Game Awards. That reason is this: the award show will host the very first gameplay footage of Brütal Legend, which still (criminally) remains without a publisher. As the next game from Tim Shafer's Double Fine, it's understandable that you might just want to see it in action. In addition to this, the game's star, Jack Black, will be hosting the VGAs in lieu of Samuel L. Jackson, who has traditionally (and bizarrely) hosted the VGAs in the past. As Black is actually a known gamer, we can't say we disapprove of the announcement.Other sneak peeks that just might make the event worth watching (or at least skipping through later) include Terminator Salvation, Fight Night Round 4, Watchmen: The End is Nigh, Mafia II, and a "special Gears of War 2 announcement" (new maps, we'd guess).[Via Joystiq]

Spike TV's 2008 Video Game Awards will be kicking off next month and the nominees and categories have all been set in place. Both PSP-exclusive titles God of War: Chains of Olympus and Patapon have been nominated for Best Handheld Game. Unfortunately, that's all these two have been nominated for. There can only be one winner and it's going to be a tough call between these two -- oh, yes, and the other nominees, of course. The PS3, on the other hand, has a huge amount of nominations -- so check out what's happening on PS3 Fanboy.
