It's a pleasure to say I've known Wowcrendor for years. Among the huge World of Warcraft community, I frequently hold him up as an example of working hard, constantly improving, and pursuing your craft with earnest devotion. Wowcrendor has achieved incredible success and he deserves every inch of it. Not sure what I mean? Take a trip down memory lane and visit It's a Hard Gnome Life, one of Wowcrendor's first videos. Released in 2009, the video doesn't enjoy much of the sophistication, wry humor, and flair that we've come to expect from the man. Nonetheless, you can see the seeds of his comedy and recognize a few of his more famous voices. Maybe, even, there's some lessons in It's a Hard Gnome Life and Wowcrendor for the rest of us. My hat's off to you, Wowcrendor. Keep on keeping on. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! In Controlled, the mercurial master of mayhem known as Wowcrendor addresses how our characters feel about being controlled by players. I found myself yearning for a Tron reference ("He fights for the user!") but the overall effect was pretty awesome. The "how our characters feel about it" angle is certainly hilarious, but the line "Free Tauren" struck an interesting chord. You can imagine a huge group of wandering Tauren proclaiming their independence from the Controlls. It's like a cross between Tron and Dune. Interested in the wide world of machinima? The thing about Wrath of the Lich King is that it was a fairly big expansion. Sure, perhaps it's not as beloved as The Burning Crusade by folks who really like to shout "You are not prepared!" but WotLK had plenty of its own iconic moments. That's why the Master of Mirth, Wowcrendor, put together Wrath of the Lich King in a Minute, with special bonus sequel since he couldn't fit everything in a single minute. Take some time, remember those good cold days, and scream "In the mountains!" Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • Wowcrendor interviews Ghostcrawler, answers about Theramore's Fall

Blizzard Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street has joined YouTube denizen Wowcrendor for an interview. You can check out the video above, and we've pulled out some highlights below: What's the one thing Blizzard would have done differently in Cataclysm? We would have worked the story around a continent rather than having zones. There was too much teleporting, and the sense of world was eroded. There was a lot of value in coming over the hill and seeing into the next zone, the transition. The teleporting created an instanced feel, and there wasn't the novelty. Mists has a whole new continent to explore, so that's something Blizzard have changed up for this expansion. Why did Blizzard go with Cross-Realm zones over server merges? Cross-Realm Zones were designed to fix the issue of having a ton of players at max-level, but lower level zones being dead. The experience of being in a MMO is lessened, so we wanted to fix that. Closing and opening realms all the time is not the solution, we can't keep doing that incessantly. We also don't want 20,000 players running around Stormwind or other high-level zones! For players who like deserted zones, we're not really catering to that. WoW is not set up to be a single player game!

One man has been a constant throughout Wowcrendor's career: Billy. Legend says that when Chuck Norris wandered the open plains of The Barrens, a single hair fell from his beard. That hair lands in the exact spot that Deathwing would (one day) pass through before the Cataclysm. Billy sprang up fully formed. OK, that's a lie. But plenty of people have clamored for the origin story of Wowcrendor's masked avenger. Not since the Zorro has one character held so much allure. Without further ado, we present: The Billy Story. Wowcrendor is back with another cutting critique of Azerothian culture in How to Win at Aggro. The video is fairly well focused on the way MMOs handle aggro radius and such, which is a favorite topic of gaming satirists everywhere. What really blew me away about this video is its graphics. Sure, it's no Baron Soosdon, but Wowcrendor's really getting his guns together in the animation department. You can see how seriously Wowcrendor takes this work. While we don't see him around Azeroth as often as we once did, I'm glad for every chance to revisit his ineffable humor. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Been feeling short on your Wowcrendor levels? Fear not, loyal subscriber of sarcasm and cynical wit, for the master of morose machinima has returned! This time, Wowcrendor tackles the question: What If Fans Ran World of Warcraft? It goes without saying that most WoW fans have strong feelings about the game. But some of our collective notions about how WoW should be run can get a little insane. That being said, who doesn't think more dragons is a good idea? Interested in the wide world of machinima? Wowcrendor's epic Orc v. Wild series serves up plenty of fun already. What could make it better than riding shotgun with Boar Thrills himself? That's exactly what Wowcrendor has accomplished with this impressive Orc vs. Wild: Interactive Adventure. Using YouTube annotations, heaps of planning, and classic Wowcrendor-style humor, the Orc vs. Wild: Interactive Adventure lets you experience the many pitfalls of Azerothian adventure. It's been a while since we've seen a new machinima from Wowcrendor, but here he comes storming back into the scene with a video about ... That Guy. You know That Guy. The Negative Nate. The one who thinks everything's bad. It's all bad, all the things are bad -- and you need to know about it. Seems like no matter where you go, That Guy is there to spoil your fun by being a stick in the mud. So Wowcrendor is calling him out. Even if Nate splits for another game ... still there, being a pain in the neck. So this one's for you, Negative Nate -- stop it! Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Mists of Pandaria Beta is Not a Joke

    by

So, the MoP beta is here for many people ... but not everyone. Perhaps inspired by inevitable kvetching, perhaps by the recent April Fools' Day, Wowcrendor decided to answer the question: Is the MoP beta a joke? This video is really more about the players than the game, as the best of Wowcrendor's videos tend to be. Most importantly, he addresses the players who treat beta as more like a promotional version of the game than a testing experience. I think how much you enjoy this video will probably depend on how much patience you have with the grouchier parts of our community. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Are you one of those loyal WoW players trying to convince your friends to take a Scroll of Resurrection? Yeah, so is Wowcrendor. And it seems when you present an exciting, well-reasoned case to bring those friends back into our fold, you get one, single answer. That's the premise of this video. This is a pretty short video, which is often for the best. Wowcrendor manages to make a full, satisfying video out of a single joke. I have a lot of respect for his brevity; dragging a video out when it's not necessary just turns it into a bore. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Have you ever felt that Wowcrendor was a negative person? That he spewed nothing but loathsome, vile opinions? I certainly think he's sarcastic and probably critical but not negative per se. Of course, the entire WoW community feels like it's on edge right now, due to the lurking elephant in the room (wielding a laser sword). Wowcrendor made this video to respond to critics who felt he was way too negative. His stance is that being a positive, rainbow-filled person isn't very funny. He used this video to prove it. The painful justice is that I actually thought it was pretty funny. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • Jokes and songs decorate the WoW community

    02.22.2012

We get a lot of musical submissions and comedy bits sent to WoW Moviewatch. For better or for worse, we can't always run them. Moviewatch usually needs an animated movie or live-action narration to really work. It's a rough guideline, but it's been a consistent one for years. Of course, we see some awesome stuff that deserves its own spotlight. These are songs, comedy routines, and moments of sheer awesome that you shouldn't miss. It's up to you to decide whether they're good, of course, but that's what makes it a community effort.

Billy got kicked from his guild, which means he needs to find another guild. And so it was that Billy went on another tour through the various frustrating guild stereotypes. If you think about the baggage being carried by a single person, consider then the collective baggage hauled around by an entire guild! How to Win at Guilds 2 is probably one of Wowcrendor's best videos in a while. It's a longer video and contains a deeper, more detailed criticism of the game. It's also a good example of that nice, painfully funny analysis for which Wowcrendor is known. I think we all know guilds or people like those in this video. • WoW Moviewatch: How to Tell if Your Warsong Gulch Will Fail

    by

    02.10.2012

Warsong Gulch is a frustrating map. It's a great game (one of my favorite), but it doesn't take much for a team to run right off the rails. One or two people determined to live in the field, one person who just doesn't have the juice to win, or even a bad flag carrier are all things that can wreck your game -- not even to bring up the dreaded turtle match. Wowcrendor sums it all up in this movie about failing Warsong Gulch. It's not a complex video, sure, but it doesn't take a complex video to explain what can go wrong. If you find yourself saying anything that takes place here, take some time to reevaluate your strategy. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Racial Stereotypes

    by

Work warning: Very mild cursing -- like, way mild ... but thought I'd warn you anyway. Wowcrendor tackles the seedy underbelly of player perception toward in-game races in Racial Stereotypes. Don't worry: this is purely trolls and elves and stuff, nothing about the real world. I admit I had that mild cringe at first, but it's just in-game stuff. I think the most painful part of this video was the number of people I know who actually line up inside Wowcrendor's stereotypes. The whole way through, I just kept thinking, "Yup, know him. And her. And her." I guess that's what makes it funny, but it definitely makes me want to go re-roll. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: The Story of Dumass

    by

    01.16.2012

Wowcrendor occasionally creates these background stories for NPCs. It adds a little flavor to the stories already in the game (kind of), and the technique really lets Wowcrendor show off his comedy chops. The Story of Dumass focuses on the NPC Dumass, one of three NPCs involved in Welcome to the Machine. In that quest, the player takes the role of quest giver, handing out goals to other adventurers. It's a very meta story, and Dumass really underscores the habits of some of our more challenged player peers. Given that Dumass is already a parody, creating a parody video of Dumass seems like a stroke of genius. Check out the video and let us know whether you think Wowcrendor succeeded! • WoW Moviewatch: Unreleased Dragon Soul Cinematic

Wowcrendor has made pretty good with his unreleased cinematics series. His Unreleased WoW Mists of Pandaria Trailer nailed down some of the fan myths and legends spurring on the oncoming pandapocolypse. His new Unreleased Dragon Soul Cinematic is no different. Wowcrendor revisits the final cinematic in Dragon Soul, in which the dragon aspects chat about their new mortal lives. We even get an arrow-to-the-knee rebuttal, killing a joke that very badly need killing. I can't help but feel this is a more realistic conversation between the dragons than the one we actually got. After all, who wants to spontaneously be made mortal? Bring on the Age of Pandas! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Finally, Wowcrendor has decided to lay down a parody to the hit YouTube series Epic Rap Battles of History. If you're not familiar with the series, Nice Peter grabs two pop culture icons and forces them to engage in comedy rap. The videos are well acted, clever, and a lot of fun. In Wowcrendor's version, Hogger and Gamon throw down for lyrical superiority. Don't forget to visit the YouTube page and vote for the winner. Not to show any Alliance bias, but I think Hogger won, personally. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! If nothing else, Wowcrendor is certainly prolific. He clearly takes his machinima seriously and keeps himself on a rigorous, disciplined production schedule. This is the second movie from Wowcrendor this week. And while we run the risk of turning the column into Wowcrendorwatch instead, we do love seeing what Wowcrendor is doing. In Orc vs Wild: Northrend, Boar Thrills encounters the challenging terrain in Northrend. Using the natural terrain, fauna, and condors of the land, Boar continues onward throughout the frozen land. Wowcrendor uses this video to poke fun at Bear Grylls and all the tropes and memes about the survival lifestyle. It's an amusing video, though it does help to be familiar with the genre.
