Dell XPS Gen 2

If you're the mobile gaming or the mobile media type—you know who you are—then Dell's got your ticket (again). Their new second gen version of the Inspiron XPS keeps with the out of this world specs and price: $2800 gets you an 8.6-pound beast of a Sonoma-based machine (yeah, they finally switched to Pentium M chips), replete with a new insane 17-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) widescreen TrueLife screen, user-upgradeable 256MB GeForce Go 6800 Ultra graphics, dual channel DDR2 SDRAM, and some LED lighting around the chassis they found in their hearts to shave down to 1.67-inches thick. Oh, and they're resurrecting an old Dell classic: personalizeable lid covers! Just slap a transparent cover onto the metal lid, and sandwich in your favorite "game imagery." All that power, and they still resort to gimmicks.

[Thanks, Phil]
