Quake III is popping up all over

Now that developers have managed to get Doom to run on what seems to be the smallest relevant device for its enjoyment, they're turning their hax0r skills to more power hungry games. Quake III was recently released under the GPL license, and we're seeing that it's being put to good use by NoctemWare who has ported Quake III Arena to Windows CE 4.2 and has it running quite smoothly on a Dell Axim X50v at 25fps, using PowerVR 3D hardware acceleration. Noctem has also compiled the game for Windows Mobile 5, but you're going to have a hard time finding a phone to keep up. Both versions are available for free download at their website and require a PC installation of the game to work.
