NTL demos 100Mbps pipe on demand for up to 3 HDTV streams
Oh, the jealousy, the rage, the "wow" factor! NTL is testing their mega-broadband cable service that provides up to 100 Mbps of bandwidth as needed to your flat. Last week, a staged demo provided the pipe for three unique HDTV programs while still leaving room for little Suzy to IM her girlfriends and for big brother Billy to....uh....well, let's just say we don't condone those types of sites. NTL is focusing on the cable signal to the home as well as "the last mile" with their cable service. Conceptually, the service will throttle up and down based on the demand for bandwidth; if you're downloading a high-def video, for example, you get a majority of the pipe needed.
