Verizon launches FiOS TV Widgets

Matt Burns

This is kind of cool. Verizon just launched a "Widget" service that works over top of their FiOS system. Subscribers can display weather and traffic info right from their remotes. There seems to be only a few widgets out right now but as widgets go, we are sure (and hope) there will be tons of them later on. Future ones indicated by Verizon may include personalized news, sports scores and fantasy-league sports results. Best of all Verizon has included these free of charge to all their subscribers.

Has anyone of our readers noticed these on their service yet. What do you think of 'em? Better yet, we would love to get a bigger look at the widgets - hook us up.

Verizon owns Engadget's parent company, Oath (formerly AOL). Rest assured, Verizon has no control over our coverage. Engadget remains editorially independent.
