Wii outsells both 360 and PS3 in January despite shortages

Preliminary NPD data via Next-Gen suggests that Nintendo outsold both the 360 and PS3 in January, this despite continued shortages for the console while the latter two are widely in stock. Here's how it allegedly went down last month:

  1. Wii - 436,000 units

  2. 360 - 294,000 units

  3. PS3 - 244,000 units

Said Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo's VP of marketing on the numbers: "I do think that we're selling to additional and different customers. We've had an incredibly healthy start and we think there's going to be a pretty long tail on this product." Does Kaplan even know what Long Tail is? I think she means Wii can continue to sell well.
