The Elves of WAR: Dark Elf Chapter I Public Quest, Spires of Narthain

The first Public Quest (PQ) we came across while playing our Dark Elves was a very cool experience, especially considering that this is only the first of many PQs. We suppose it's in Mythic's best interest to -- pardon the term -- wow players early and often and the Spires of Narthain PQ does exactly that. Around level four or five, you'll be headed to the area your map has conveniently indicated for you to complete some quests. Suddenly, an objective indicator will show up in the upper-right portion of your screen. What's this? Well, you've arrived at the Spires of Narthain, the last bastion of High Elf defense in this area. Get ready for some action.

Of course, all PQs are totally optional. However, when you see them happening it's pretty tempting to join in on the fun.

Above you, atop the Spires of Narthain, will be Malphus and Sunlathir. They're two drakes of both evil and good, respectively. As you battle the troops below, the Drakes duke it out above. Eventually, Malphus will be defeated and it will be left up to you and your fellow Dark Elves to slaughter the still-weakened Sunlathir before she regains her strength.

  • Stage I
    Kill Narthain 30 Soldiers
Once you've completed this task, you'll move onto Stage II. It's not entirely difficult and could probably be done with one or two players participating in the PQ.

  • Stage II
    Kill 15 Narthain Sun Mages
The Sun Mages attack the black Drake. It's up to you to kill them before they defeat Malphus. This one seems easier at first, but since these guys tend to come in groups it's better to have a few people fighting alongside you. Plus, you only have ten minutes to complete this task before the PQ resets.

  • Stage III
    Kill Sunlathir
Yep, you've got to kill a weakened Sun Drake and have only six minutes to do it. Sunlathir descends upon you breathing fire and swinging giant, golden claws. It's time for you to drop this punk and it'll require a group effort. Sunlathir has some nasty attacks that can kill an unsuspecting Witch Elf or Sorceress quicker than you may guess.

After that, you're all done. It's time to roll for loot, which is of course based on a very nice effort vs randomization system. It's hard to feel cheated, especially when the whole thing resets in about a minute and thirty seconds.
