Guildwatch: "The odor of the stagnant trash"

Don't get us wrong: ninja'ing the guild bank is one thing, but when your guild gets ninja'ed and everyone wonders who the guy who did it is and why he has access to the bank, it might be time to look at your security plans and reevaluate.

Lots more drama, downed, and recruiting news in this week's Guildwatch below. If you've got news of drama on the realms, your guild has dived into the endgame with panache, or you'd like some good WoW Insider readers to join your guild, send us an email at wowguildwatch AT gmail dot com. DRAMA

  • Black War Bear drama! Apparently over on Ysera, Midwinter and Frozen Myst were able to down the Horde leaders with 80 people, and they all picked up those Armored Bear mounts you get when you do that now. A little while later, Alpha did it with only 40 people (this was all before the expansion, I believe), and they haven't shut up about it since, desperately attempting to make fun of everyone else on the server who isn't as cool as they think they are. Brown bears are serious business, apparently -- wouldn't you want as many people in the raid as possible? Wouldn't it be better to offer up the bears to more people?

  • And speaking of bear mounts, a large alliance on Eitrigg-A grouped up to kill all four Horde bosses before the expansion. They had two raids, and toppled Org and Thunder Bluff first before coordinating Undercity and Silvermoon at the same time. They had a big bear orgy afterwards: Legacy, Pick up Groups, Harbingers of Death, We Raid Refridgerators, Grind House Corp, and We Know were all on board. Eitrigg-H, have you got something to say to these folks?

  • What is this nonsense? Here's some non-drama for you: Deify of Azjol-Nerub recently took a few puggers along with them to TK, and not only did the run go great anyway, but when the Ashes dropped, Deify stuck to their word and let the puggers roll: Uhdollar of Section Nine actually won them and actually got them, resulting in this little love fest on the forums. Come on, people, how are we going to report on drama when you're actually fair and honorable with loot?!? In other news, Deify is looking for DPS, so look them up if you're interested.

  • Divinity (a guild on an EU server, we're not sure which one) is led by a Gnome Rogue named Phlick, and we hear he's been serially ninja looting. He was on a KT pug, and though he came fourth on the rolls, he apparently nabbed the T5 chest (it was later transferred back after the outcry). He's also taken a Sun Eater, we hear, and he's been working on getting the Ashes of Al'ar, too. Bad times -- that's the kind of stuff that will ruin your reputation, buddy.

  • The Transcendant on Medivh wants people to join them, but that's not all -- apparently there's some bad blood in the guild's history. Check the last post on the first page for a quote of the dramabomb that got erased with an edit: apparently some of the guild's officers previously walked out on the guild when things didn't go well, and are only now coming back when the guild is working hard to get back together. It all gets poetic at the end, too: "Everything good in TT left because the odor of the stagnant trash became so repugnant they have to leave lest they vomit every day from its stench." We don't know what that means, but wow.

  • What's that? Someone left Mighty Morphin on Ghostlands, and then tried to cause trouble in the guild? Blacklisted! We're not sure what "blacklisting" actually entails when you're a guild, but it's probably something bad, right? Later on in the thread, the blacklisted person shows up, and then it gets really good. And yes, we do appreciate the callout, Garine (/salute!). Whereever people take the game way too seriously, we're there.

  • Envin apparently left Envy on Shattered Hand to join End Game, but when he decided the new guild wasn't for him, he went back to Envy... and took some of the guild bank with him. There's a little argument over whether it was his stuff he took from the bank or not, but bottom line, "knowing someone" is not really a good reason to give them full access to the guild bank. Agreed, the guy shouldn't have taken the stuff (unfortunately, his new guild (Sewt is the leader) doesn't care, so he probably won't have any problems), but if there's more than one or two people with access to the guild bank, it's ninja time sooner or later. As the screenshots say, "why did he have access"?

DOWNED

  • Kalimdors Legion from Hydraxis finished off all the way up to M'uru before the patch hit last week. Grats!

  • Pango Honoratus on Twisting Nether-H ventured into the Black Temple and dropped Naj'entus, Supremus, Shade of Akama, Teron Gorefiend, and Bloodboil before it got too late. Very nice.

  • Revenant, on the Alliance side, of Echo Isles downed Kil'Jaeden last week for a whole server first. They were also recruiting for Wrath before we all headed up to Northrend.

  • Crimson Chaos on Hakkar-A wandered into Black Temple the other night for the first time as a guild, and downed the first 3 bosses, High Lord Naj'entus, Supremus, and Shade of Akama. High Lord Naj'entus and Shade of Akama were one shotted, while Supremus took three attempts to down due to the kiting phase.

  • Ultra Vires of Madoran just cleared BT. They reformed last July from a parent guild, and have had a goal of clearing BT since then. Age of Conan claimed a few members, and for a while, they had a lot of open raid slots on a fairly low pop server, but True Blood helped them out, and they were eventually able to accomplish their goals. Good show.

  • The Risen on Tichondrius downed illidan for the first time. Special thanks to Crazypyrox, who PuGged along with them donating his time and advice for the fight.

  • Grim on Shattered Halls-H beat the game and nabbed a server first KJ kill. That was before the game added all that content, of course.

  • Meta on Stormscale-H finished off KJ and picked up their first Thori'dal (server second) right before the expansion. That completes all of their goals for Burning Crusade, and now they're moving into Wrath ready to progress right on into the new endgame.

  • Witness the Fall of Garona downed Illidan for the first time ever and on their last attempt of the night, possibly ever, thanks to Northrend. Grats to Vangar on the Bulwark, Arcticnips on the Skull, and Millana, Samraan and Emberz on T6!

  • Endless Shadow of Azjol-Nerub has had another week of firsts for the third week in a row: they dropped two bosses in SSC and one in Black Temple. For most of the people with them, it was the first time they'd ever seen those instances, so grats!

  • The New Inquisition on Blackhand-A dropped Kael'thas like a rock. They're putting the inevitable level 80 version of Kael'thas on notice -- let's just fight him in every instance from now on.

  • Exiled From Hell on Runetotem calls themselves "the number one US-rated daytime raiding guild," and I won't bother arguing -- how can you really track when guilds raid? Anyway, they cleared out Sunwell and downed KJ, so they're definitely doing well. But number one daytime guild? Really? Grats and all, but isn't it all right to just be a Sunwell guild?

  • Balance of Judgement (EU Darkmoon Faire-A) downed Magtheridon for the first time last week (on only their second visit to Magtheridon's Lair).

  • Arcturus of Suramar had a pretty incredible last seven days. Lady Vashj, Kael'thas Sunstrider, Gurtogg Bloodboil, Reliquary of Souls, Mother Shiraz, Illidari Council, and Illidan Stormrage all were downed for the first time all in November. The one remaining order of business is to deal with Archimonde -- hopefully they killed Archi before Northrend.

  • House of Dagoth, also on Suramar, spent the last 2 months worth of Sunday afternoons going back to classic raids and killing the final bosses for old time's sake (including crafting over 40 Onyxia Scale Cloaks!). They finished up last week by killing C'Thun, earning most of those in attendance the Classic Raider achievement. The raids were organized and led by Martyrdom -- nice job.

  • Frostblood of EU Defias Brotherhood ended the BC era with clearing Zul'Aman as a progression raid. Grats!

  • Three guilds on EU Draenor finished off Illidan withing 30 minutes last week: Knights of the Legion, Cohort and Spirit of Dawnsong all brought down Illy D. And happy third birthday to KotL as well. Woot!

  • Adults Only (EU Nordrassil-H) have downed Kael'thas (they tried hard pre-lolpatch, but doing it after is just as well), Naj'entus, Supremus, Shade of Akama, Anetheron and Kaz'rogal. Last we heard they were working on clearing Hyjal before Wrath, hopefully they made it.

  • Stargazer Clan of Elune, in one last push before WotLK comes out, took down the Illidari Council and paid a social call on the master of the residence, Illidan. I guess that means they didn't quite get him, but we hear they're coming back, Illy, so don't put the fine china away just yet.

  • Beyond has continued to blast through some final content before the expansion -- they cleared RoS to down Mother, then Illidari Council shortly after that. The other night, they got down Illidan for the first time on the second shot after wiping a good 15 times the night before. Vashj also got one-shotted. They were headed for KT before Wrath, last we heard.

  • Light Defenders (a Polish guild on EU Anachronos) obtained server first Ashes of Al'ar from Kael'thas. They'd hoped to kill him a day before, but a bug made them wait. Grats on getting him down though.

  • Mystic Legends (server?) finally started farming Kara weekly, and were hoping to take down ZA right before the expansion.

  • Ducktape of Thrall-A ventured into Sunwell last week for the first time and was able to take down Kalecgos and Brutallus. Grats! Turns out that stuff really can do anything.

RECRUITING

  • Silent Lucidity is an Alliance guild on the Baelgun server that has opened its doors to new mature members after collecting a few friends from faded guilds form this summer's attendance slump. All levels welcome -- but dedicated raiders are preferred!

  • Rocket Hobo of Hydraxis's Alliance side is recruiting anyone 65+ in preparation to start levelling together in WotLK and bust into Wrath endgame using a leveling pairs system. Yes there is a fairly sized bank and a tabard, and we hear it's better than [Pet Rock]. Apparently the server will understand.

  • Mattachine Knights on Proudmoore-A is recruiting. They are a GLBT-Friends guild who are gearing up to rush toward raiding in WotLK. Formerly part of the massive and incredible Stonewall Champions, they moved to our own guild, amicably, to start a more hardcore raiding guild. Currently, they're recruiting 1 Holy Priest, 1 Resto Shaman and 1 Holy Paladin.

  • Revamped (server?) is recruiting for Wrath of the Lich King and all that that entails.

  • Lux Aeterna of Doomhammer is currently recruiting all classes and specs for WotLK raiding. They're looking for laid back people with a great sense of humor that can still get the job done in a raid environment, and plan to be a top progression guild in WotLK.

That's it for GW this week. Until next week, as always, happy raiding!

That not enough guild news for you? There's lots more Guildwatch in the archives, including an honest-to-goodness /gkick contract, and lots of red-handed bank looting. Wherever people /gquit or are /gkicked, that's where you'll find GW!
