Kojima 'very interested' in collaborating with Western developers

After producing one of the most "Western" Japanese-developed titles ever in Metal Gear Solid 4, Hideo Kojima now says he'd like to go one step further and serve as producer on a game from a Western developer. Speaking with Kikizo, Kojima said, "I'm not sure when this will happen, but yes, I'm very interested," adding, "There are many development companies outside of Japan working with Konami, and I believe that they're all special in some way."

We're guessing Kojima means working on an original title with a Western outfit, as he's already collaborated with Canadian developer Silicon Knights on its GameCube redux of the original Metal Gear Solid. It sounds like whichever company he eventually teams up with will benefit from his years of experience, but not be forced to do everything his way. "I'd have to really try to help them do what they do best as production studios," Kojima said of his approach. "That's how I plan to do it in the future, and to give them freedom."
