The Queue: The name game

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney will be your host today.

Everyone's talking about names, so have a little Tiny Toons for your day. When I was a kid, I always wondered why they skipped Plucky's name. Anyway, after yesterday's Queue, we got a whole mess of questions about names, so let's get to it.

Sir Broose asked:

When
Cata was still on the horizon, I read comments from people who said they had "reserved" a certain name for their worgen or goblin. How is that done, exactly?

Easy! Create an alt, name it the character name you'd like to reserve. Then delete that alt just before you make your new worgen or goblin, make your new character really fast, and presto -- name's yours.

GrumblyStuff asked:

What happens to toons that lose their name by someone else requesting it? Are they deleted or will they just be greeted with a screen to pick a new name and they're right back where they were left?

The latter. It's just like logging in after you've paid to have your name changed or if your name has been reported and the GMs flagged you for a name change. I've requested a name be freed up for me before, and the GM quite nicely did so -- but they informed me that if the name I wanted was on a character that was considered "active," they wouldn't be able to do anything for me. So GMs aren't just wandering around changing people's names at whim, don't worry.

Okay, that's enough questions about names. Moving on ...

Pyromelter asked:

What happened after Deathwing landed on Stormwind and knocked over the statue? Did he just fly away? Did a bunch of heroes drive him off? Was there a mustering of guards there to attack him? Do we even know why he didn't do more damage?

Not really, no. The statues in front of Stormwind represent the Alliance forces that went through the Dark Portal after the end of the Second War. Some of the guys immortalized in stone -- Khadgar, in particular -- were responsible for messing with Deathwing's plans on Outland in a big way, namely by prying the metal plates from Deathwing via magical force. You can read more about that in Beyond the Dark Portal. As for the Park, I'm pretty sure the Deathwing flambé it received had something to do with the Park being a reminder of the night elves that stole the Demon Soul from him 10,000 years before.

Where is he now? Flying around randomly torching people and wondering why they're so happy about it.

cryzytenor asked:

The battle for the town in Western Plaguelands was epic! I played it on the Horde side and those quests ended on a cliffhanger. Is there a resolution to this story in the game yet?

Not yet, but it's likely we'll see it addressed in the future. Between the events in Silverpine, Hillsbrad and Western Plaguelands, it's unlikely they're just going to let the Forsaken story sit there and rot.

No pun intended.

George asked:

Is there a use for extra justicepPoints once you're in a full 346 set? I suppose you can store them for when the next tier is devalued on the next patch, but I meant something more immediate, like we used to get gems before with emblems.

Nope, there's nothing else really to spend them on at the moment. I'm pretty sure we'll see more gear available in the future, but I'm guessing they didn't want the gem market flooded the second Cataclysm went live.
