Go go Namco Bandai: publisher gets exclusive Power Rangers rights
News flash: the Power Rangers franchise still exists. It's still an actual property that people are doing things with -- people like Namco Bandai, who just acquired the exclusive North American video game rights to Power Rangers.
The first use of these rights will be a series of home console games based on the new Power Rangers Samurai series, which is the nineteenth season of Power Rangers to air in America. Nineteenth. "As we kick off the year as the new NAMCO BANDAI Games," marketing VP Carlson Choi said, "strategic partnerships are a key focus for us. Under this new partnership, I look forward to leveraging our strengths and capabilities with Saban Brands to increase our mutual reach with high quality game content. We are definitely excited to bring the Power Rangers series under our roster of titles."
To put that in Power Rangers terms, Namco Bandai and Power Rangers producer Saban are hoping to combine their two robot animals into a sales Megazord.

NAMCO BANDAI GAMES AMERICA OBTAINS ALL CONSOLE PLATFORM RIGHTS FOR POWER RANGERS™ VIDEOGAMES
SANTA CLARA, Calif., (Feb. 4, 2011) – Leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today confirmed that it has secured exclusive North American rights to publish future official videogames for the long-running kids' TV phenomenon, Power Rangers™ across all major consoles and hand held home console videogame platforms.
This is the first step for NAMCO BANDAI Games to create a new series of home console games based on the upcoming Power Rangers Samurai series controlled by Saban Brands. Power Rangers Samurai follows a new generation of five Rangers who must master the ancient Samurai Symbols of Power, which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest and Earth. Under the guidance of their all-knowing Samurai mentor, Ji, and with the aid of their devoted animal Zords (Lion, Dragon, Ape, Turtle and Bear), they battle to save Earth from the dark forces of the Netherworld led by the evil Master Xandred.
