Breakfast Topic: What did you want from dance studios?
The dance studio, which has never come to pass, was originally announced as a feature for Wrath of the Lich King all the way back in 2007. To this day, some players still mention it as a feature they're waiting for. Setting aside the argument of broken promises for a moment, I'd like to ask what all of you wanted (or expected) from the feature.
I was one of those people excited about the dance studio at its initial announcement, but not excited enough to hold a grudge over its disappearance. Especially not for five years. However, the information we've been receiving about the updated character models has rekindled my dance studio desire. After thinking about it for awhile, I realized it isn't a studio that I want. All I want is a new dance animation for my human female characters. Seriously, their current dance is embarrassing. I haven't used /dance on most of my characters since late 2004. Items that force my character to dance, such as the Party G.R.E.N.A.D.E., have long been my bane.
Please, please give me a new dance. Maybe they can even keep the old /dance and give me a /slowdance or a /dance2. This line from Lead Animator Steve Aguilar in the latest Artcraft, revealing the orc female, gives me hope:
When you get your hands on the expansion, be sure to take a look at her talking animations, dancing animations, and emotes to see all the various expressions the team has created for her.
Take a look at her dancing animations? Have they simply updated the old one or given her a new one entirely? I suspect all they've done is update the old one in an attempt to retain the spirit of the old character models, but I can pray that new dances are coming. Because I never actually wanted a new dance studio. I just wanted a new dance. I'll do anything to escape this Seinfeldian Macarena hell.
