How we score

The Engadget Score is a unique ranking of products based on extensive independent research and analysis by our expert editorial and research teams. The Global Score is arrived at only after curating hundreds, sometimes thousands of weighted data points (such as critic and user reviews).

Engadget Summary

Canon's PowerShot S line has always provided good performance for the price, and the latest addition to the line is no different. For under $400 you get a pocket-friendly camera that delivers not just great photos, but impressive video quality as well. The S120's only negative is its battery life, which Pocket-Lint calls "fairly limited" due in part to the cameras built-in WiFi. You can still pick up its predecessor for around a hundred dollars less, but at $400, the S120 is a solid option for the budget conscious shopper.
