It's hard to use the Vaio Pro 11 and not constantly marvel at the overall design. Still, while Sony appears to have perfected compactness in the laptop form factor, it needs to work on some of its specific design choices.

Ultimately, as you probably gathered, we recommend the Pro without hesitation. Well, maybe there's one thing holding us back: we're curious to see if all the other Haswell machines deliver similarly long battery life. If they do, that's not a reason to go with the Pro, per se.

The superthin, superlight Sony Vaio Pro 11 is everything we expect from an excellent ultrabook.

While the glossy screen did give us some issues seeing what was going on, the colour quality of images is very nice.

The Sony VAIO Pro 11 (SVP11215PXB) is a sharp looking ultrabook powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i7 CPU. It offers a beautiful hi-res touch-screen display and is extremely thin and light, but its graphics performance is middling and its battery life comes up short.

Even though Sony stumbles on a few design details, its svelte number has replaced it. For the Windows 8 era — where touch and mobility reign supreme — the Vaio Pro 11 brings the "ultra" better than any other.
