  • Naughty Bear doesn't really like boating enthusiasts

Sadists, sit up. We've got another Naughty Bear video now, which highlights how our cotton-filled curmudgeon likes to handle would-be boaters. It's odd, because this is perhaps the tamest video we've seen for A2M's game yet. If you're going to kill a guy on a boat, wouldn't you get a bit more creative? You've got a rotor and rope to work with -- heck, you could even blow the whole thing up and watch your prey burn to death. You know what? We should probably stop posting so many Naughty Bear videos. It's beginning to ... affect us.

  • Grease: The Game to utilize microphones and balance board

You've used your Wii Balance Board to exercise, ski, hula hoop and snowboard. Soon, you'll have the opportunity to use the peripheral in the manner God intended: To do the Hand Jive Hop. According to a press release from publisher 505 Games, Grease: The Game will allow two teams of four players to fight for "musical domination" using two USB microphones and the Balance Board. Oh, man. We've got chills, and we'll be entirely damned if they're not multiplying. The board will be used for Grease's many minigames, which include T-Bird racing, carnival games, and singing to the title's 16-song soundtrack. Not mentioned in the presser is the minigame where you take a nice, sweet-natured young girl and transform her into a spandex-clad hussy. We'll find out if that one made the cut when the game launches on Wii and DS in September.

  • Backbreaker video gets all defensive

Having educated us in the ways of offense, 505 Games has released a new video to acquaint digital linesmen with Backbreaker's defensive game. Much like the offense game, playing D in Backbreaker uses flicks of the right analog stick to perform various actions, whether they be flying tackles, bull rushes or sneaky evasive spins. Backbreaker tackles retail shelves -- and the notion of unlicensed football -- June 1.

    05.21.2010

A demo for the Euphoria-powered, tackle-infused Backbreaker is now available on Xbox Live. The demo clocks in at 415MB and allows players to try out the training mode, an exhibition game and the "Tackle Alley" mode. Tackle Alley is an arcade-style game that has you running the ball up the field against a pre-placed set of defenders. Using Backbreaker's offensive options, it's your job to shake the defense and get the ball to the end zone. Backbreaker also has another innovative feature: being one of the only football games that isn't Madden. Unfortunately, the team editor isn't available in the demo, so you'll have to wait for the retail release in order to create your totally fictional team that doesn't use any NFL names or trademarks. • Naughty Bear's cannibalistic, Jaws-inspired trailer

The parodies keep coming for Naughty Bear, as this latest trailer takes a bite out of Steven Spielberg's horror hit, Jaws. While we definitely enjoy the spirited homage, we do have one issue: it's straight-up cannibalism. We don't care if these bears are full of fluffy cotton -- seeing one bear consume another is terrifying. You can get in on our own personal nightmare by clicking the play button after the break. Just don't say we didn't warn you.

  • Backbreaker's running game looks for the gap

Backbreaker continues to promise a little innovation in the football genre, even as it tries to take on the mighty Madden juggernaut. In this new Training Camp video, you can check out the running game and how it works. In theory, it sounds great -- just use the right stick in an intuitive way to bump, stiff arm, and hurdle your opponents in the constant drive towards the end zone. In practice, though, it's tough to see how well the game will determine the gestures, like comparing a simple hurdle (pushing the right stick up quickly) versus an all-out leap (pushing the right stick up for a while). Still, even though Backbreaker is starting out deep in its own territory against the long-lived, well-funded and officially-licensed Madden series, if there's anywhere a plucky young underdog with a big, physics-based heart can win, it's in the sports genre. The game will set, hut, hike on June 1 for a discount price of $49.99.

  • Backbreaker video shows off team customization options

The Euphoria-powered football game, Backbreaker, shows off team customization tools in its latest trailer. Sure, you could use the robust editing suite to manufacture a pretty sweet team logo and end zone design ... but we know most people won't. When it launches on June 1st, could you at least promise us to keep your creations clean and devoid of objectionable genitalia for, like, the first day? How about you be a bit more mature and go with something like the Sioux City Slammers or, dare we suggest, the Jasper Joystiqs? No no, not the Joy Sticks. What is wrong with you people?

As advanced as the bear populace seems in Naughty Bear, some things never change. Raw fish and honey are still mainstays of their diet, for example. As you can see in the trailer above, they also remain susceptible to the bear trap. Apparently, when it comes to objects that look like gigantic metal shark mouths, these bears just tune 'em out. Oh well, we're sure the bear corpses piling up will force an evolutionary adaptation eventually. Just not today, it seems.

  • Naughty Bear pre-order costumes pay tribute to slasher movie villains

The gameplay of A2M's Naughty Bear, in which you either outright murder other bears or scare them into killing themselves, is missing something. It seems like there's some additional touch that could really sell the idea of becoming a revenge-obsessed villain preying on the worst fears of those around you. Like, perhaps, a Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees outfit. Publisher 505 Games announced that you'll get precisely that (well, almost precisely: it's a "Kruebear" costume or a "Slasher Bear" outfit) when you pre-order Naughty Bear from Amazon or GameStop, respectively. The Kruebear offer isn't reflected on the Amazon page yet -- but expect to be offered the chance to tear stuffing out of bears' bodies with some knife-gloves soon. See the "Slasher Bear" costume after the break. %Gallery-79926%

It's okay, you don't have to read this. You saw that there was a new Backbreaker video and you came to watch some dudes get tackled. That's fine, and we understand. So, really, you don't have to read this just to make us feel like we're earning our keep. Besides, we've already seen the video, and you should totally watch it. Like, seriously, so many dudes get tackled. Actually, there is one thing you should read: The Backbreaker release date has been pushed back a week to June 1. Okay, now you can watch.

  • A trio of twisted Naughty Bear trailers

505 Games has released a new batch of Naughty Bear trailers. The standout of the three trailers is probably the Blair Witch parody we've embedded above. While the homage to the movie is appreciated, it's a little low on bear-on-bear violence for our taste. The other two trailers, thankfully, fall a bit closer to the mark. The second is actually a snippet from the third level of the game, which tasks Naughty Bear with destroying cameras mounted on birds (no, really). Finally, the third trailer gives us the violence we crave, as the demented fiend pushes a poor, defenseless comrade into a giant cake mixer. If that's not good, clean fun, we don't know what is.

  • Submerge yourself into Naval Assault: The Killing Tide

click to DIVE into our gallery You're probably sitting around watching a rerun of The Hunt for Red October on cable right now, wondering aloud, "When are we going to see another decent submarine game?" You're even practicing your Sean Connery accent, which is good because, come this June, you'll have a chance to use it. 505 Games, who recently wowed us with both Backbreaker and Naughty Bear, are releasing Naval Assault: The Killing Tide on June 15 exclusively on the Xbox 360, just in time for a Submarine Summer. The game is "arcade style" according to the press release, meaning you Silent Hunter fans aren't going to get all the realism you want. Instead you'll have to settle for the historically accurate naval warzones of WWII and " an arsenal of faithfully recreated U.S. Naval submarines." Those subs will be armed with torpedoes and a deck gun, the better to take out enemy subs, ships, and planes. Though there aren't any in the gallery below, this game had better involve some periscopes ... or else. Gamers can play through the 30 solo missions after they launch from New York, or join three other players online for some multiplayer action. %Gallery-89455%

Click to morph your browser tab into the gallery The Swarm, Buka Studios' sci-fi third-person shooter for Xbox 360, has re-emerged as MorphX, to be released in North America on June 1, published by 505 Games. In MorphX, players leave an underground shelter beneath Moscow (yes, again) to enter a world that has been conquered by alien invaders. In order to fight them, you must absorb alien DNA to give yourself abilities like regeneration and improved vision, while slowly turning yourself into a monster in the process. You'll have to decide whether all the totally awesome powers are worth turning yourself into the thing you're fighting. Decisions, decisions. %Gallery-89294%

505 Games' ambitious tackle-em-up Backbreaker is looking to prove that an NFL license isn't all one needs to make a good football game -- and it'll get its chance on May 25, when the Euphoria-powered game will release in North America. Europeans anxious to break a back (and maybe an arm or two) will have to wait until May 28. So, what's your favorite part of football? Is it all of the home runs or the great names, like Dick Butkus? %Gallery-82057%

505 Games has announced that A2M's adorable cotton-shredder, Naughty Bear, will stalk retail shelves this summer on June 8. The game follows the eponymous Naughty Bear, who finds something very odd about his usually pleasant surroundings and neighbors -- and then attempts to resolve it by making everyone hug ... a shotgun. Check out our impressions if you're not sure where you stand on the issue of cruelty to stuffed cartoon animals. %Gallery-79926%

  • Naughty Bear trailer takes a stab at Alien

    03.20.2010

The onslaught of great Naughty Bear media doesn't let up in this new trailer, which does a good job of creeping us the hell out. It's a parody of that scene from Ridley Scott's Alien and continues Naughty Bear's unending goal to present itself as one messed up game. Have you read our impressions yet? Denmark is a super rotten place in A2M's latest. It's a pretty neat trailer but, frankly, we think Mel Brooks' take on the whole Alien thing was way better. You can't win them all.

  • Developers finally selected for Grease on Wii and DS

Hey, remember back in July of 2009 when 505 Games described its video game adaptation of beloved terrible musical Grease? Well, today -- around eight months later -- 505 has revealed who it has chosen to design that game. Wow, this is a really nice cart, what with all the flame decals and pink paint, but what's your ducktail-sporting horse doing all the way back there? (Psst, that's a cart-before-the-horse joke.) Since we've come this far, we might as well tell you that the DS version is being developed by Big Head Games and the Wii version by Zoë Mode, which most recently developed Chime for Xbox Live Arcade. Theoretically, that musical experience should be just as useful as ... experience with musicals.

  • Field & Stream: Total Outdoorsman Challenge coming to 360 in May

It can be hard being a a total outdoorsman every now and then -- don't we know it! Sometimes it snows, or there are vicious bears, or maybe we're just feeling like snuggling up inside with a warm mug of hot cocoa instead of mercilessly hunting down animals for sport. Thankfully, development studio Beast understand our predicament and has announced a March release date for upcoming Xbox 360 hunting sim Field & Stream: Total Outdoorsman Challenge. Finally, a solution! At last, we can "brave the elements" of the wild without having to actually experience the raw elements that make us want to stay safely indoors. And considering that the closest we get to "the wild" is the local zoo, it's good to know that the game will feature "more than 30 big game, native, and fowl species across multiple environments." Heck, we can even polish up our lacking rifleman skills with F&S:TOC's free hunt and practice modes. How could we go wrong! What's this about Cabela's somethingorother, you say? %Gallery-83626%

  • New Naughty Bear trailer stuffed with violence

    01.16.2010

505 Games has released another trailer for A2M's upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 project, Naughty Bear. Like the first screens released, the trailer pretty much conforms to what you would imagine. In the grand tradition of taking eternally cute cliches and making them violent -- think Happy Tree Friends, Conker's Bad Fur Day -- the trailer features Naughty Bear gunning down another bear as it flees in terror. The cute violence concept isn't exactly new in games -- Fairytale Fights says hi -- but we have to admit it's pretty funny to see stuffing spray out of a teddy bear as the result of a shotgun wound. Check it out in the trailer above. If you think you can bear it, of course. %Gallery-79926%

This trailer for Artificial Mind and Movement's Naughty Bear sets up the story, depicting the social slight that turns the title animal toward thoughts of revenge. Which means that this trailer consists almost entirely of footage of a sad, stuffed bear. We kind of think the "sadistic stuffed animal" idea is cute, but seeing Sad Bear just makes us feel, well, sad. That poor bear! Well, maybe not. After looking at the screenshots, we totally see why his bear pals shunned him. Would you want to invite the kind of guy over who boils people in a cauldron in response to perceived social offenses? Guy's a jerk! %Gallery-79926%
