When we woke up this morning, we weren't expecting to round out our day with the visceral image of man-sized teddy bears hanging by nooses from a ceiling. This latest trailer for Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise shows off the eponymous bear's new combo-based combat system, range-based enemy AI, and Naughty's ability to pick up bears and stick their tongues into the spinning blade of a rotary lawnmower.%Gallery-163342%

  • Adidas MiCoach game launching this summer, headed to Xbox 360 and PS3

Despite being involved in that peaceful conundrum with THQ, we knew Adidas still planned on launching its MiCoach video game at some point in the near future. Now, after weeks of keeping those lips sealed, the German company announced it's teaming up with publisher 505 Games to finally bring the fitness-driven title to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 -- where it'll primarily use the Kinect and Move add-ons. While 505 will handle all publishing duties, Adidas notes the MiCoach game is in the works by UK developer Chromativity "under exclusive license." Of course, the F50 creator couldn't leave its big name reps out of this one, which is why sport celebs like Kaká, José Mourinho and Dwight Howard are going to be teaching "Masterclasses" within the game. Hey, at least now you know you won't have to be out on the field to put that tracking system to good use.

505 Games will finish publishing duties for Adidas MiCoach, the game at the center of a multi-million dollar lawsuit and subsequent settlement between embattled publisher THQ and the sportswear maker. The Adidas MiCoach fitness game will be completed by UK developer Chromativity for Xbox 360 and PS3, and will launch this summer.Adidas sued publisher THQ for $10.6 million back in March over the publisher's breach of contract to deliver MiCoach 24/7 by January. The case was settled later in the month, when THQ announced it would not publish the game and that a "third party" would reimburse THQ for certain development costs and work with Adidas to bring the game to market. Turns out 505 Games was Adidas' mystery date.

Sniper Elite V2 publisher 505 Games has told Joystiq that a demo for Rebellion's upcoming reboot is scheduled to arrive in April, one month ahead of the game's May release. The demo will be made available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though "the final date is not yet scheduled," the publisher told us.A PC version of Sniper Elite V2 is also in the works, which will be self-published by Rebellion. Reps for the game tell Joystiq a demo for the PC is also planned for "sometime next month."There's no telling what the demo will include, but Joystiq's recent preview should give you a good idea of what's in store. Sniper Elite V2 -- and its Kill Hitler pre-order bonus -- launches on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on May 4.When asked if the bonus would be made available as premium DLC in the future, a rep told Joystiq the developer has yet to determine the content's fate following launch. Our guess is Rebellion will give everyone a shot at the world's most hated man at some point -- it's just a question of cost.%Gallery-151767%

  • Targeting the Axis powers in Sniper Elite V2

I walk into a large conference room late, having dealt with a parking lot maze. As I enter, I spot a television well into a demo -- a bullet ejects from a Springfield rifle, time slows following it to an enemy, and cuts through a Nazi soldier like a chainsaw through a stick of butter.Reps from developer Rebellion and publisher 505 Games are huddled over the monitors, showing off Sniper Elite V2, a reboot of Rebellion's 2005 Sniper Elite for PC, PS2, Wii, and Xbox. The demo, I'm told, had only just started. "We get right into the action," a PR spokesperson tells me. But the action in Sniper Elite V2 isn't about quick progression through its Battle of Berlin setting -- it is methodical.%Gallery-151767%

Rebellion's Sniper Elite V2 throws players behind enemy lines as an Allied soldier in World War II, strategically taking down Axis troops during the Battle of Berlin with x-ray-enabled headshots, as shown in the above video. In the video after the break, Senior Producer Steve Hart calls Sniper Elite V2 more of a "thinking-man's shooter than some of the run-and-gun titles" out now -- he must be really into this war thing, because those sound like fightin' words to us.%Gallery-145284%

  • Dawn of Fantasy shows off the Online Kingdoms mode

    01.10.2012

If you've followed stories on Dawn of Fantasy, you know that the game offers an MMORTS mode in addition to its offline modes. What you may not know is exactly how the MMO side of gameplay works out in practice, and that's the sort of thing that's really important to know before you dive into a game. The team at Reverie World Studios has helpfully put together a video diary detailing the Online Kingdoms mode, showing off how players can experience the game in a persistent online world. The focus of the game, naturally, is on creating and running one's own city; it takes some time to turn your plot of land into a functional city, and in the midst of all that you still have troops to recruit, train, and improve. It's a mixture of quest-based gameplay and more traditional RTS mechanics, but you don't need to take our word for it. Jump past the break to watch the full video and see if it looks like the right mix of both tastes for you. [Source: Reverie World Studios press release]

  • ESA members asked individually about SOPA, some respond

Rock, Paper, Shotgun collaborated in obtaining responses. The Entertainment Software Association's support of the "Stop Online Piracy Act" has led us to ask every member of the video game industry's lobbying and political group to publicly declare its stance on the bill. The ESA's continued support means every member, by proxy, is a supporter of the bill. Some companies have pulled their logos from supporting SOPA documentation to dodge ire, while others are hiding behind rhetoric, as you'll see below. Joystiq contacted every member of the ESA and requested a declarative statement on SOPA. After the break we've listed the responses we've received, along with others we found. We continue to seek clarity on this issue from every member of the ESA. This will become the page we update as we receive responses and clear declarative statements, so feel free to bookmark. (Joystiq does not support SOPA, nor does our parent company.)

Tired of just controlling one measly avatar in MMOs? Does your ego go unfulfilled by such restrictions? Then this might be the time to try something a little more... large-scale with Dawn of Fantasy. This interesting MMORTS allows players to create entire armies, build up castles, and attempt to conquer the world -- and it's currently available for the masses. To promote the title, Reverie World Studios is offering the title at 33% off the normal price of $30, bringing it down to $20. Dawn of Fantasy has no subscription cost, so once you have a copy you can play indefinitely. Reverie also extended its Dwarven Invasion promotion, in which players will receive free Dwarf mercenaries and a special quest for no additional charge. These promotions are only available for the next week, so if you're interested, you might want to get a move on. We've included the launch trailer for the game after the jump if you're looking to get a feel for what's going on in this game world.

  • Grease coming to Kinect and Move

That's right. Grease 2. That's how we roll. We love making game recommendations to our friends and family, but we've been struggling recently. Specifically, we've been utterly stumped whenever someone tells us they don't know which Kinect or PlayStation Move game to buy for the worst person they know. "I have to buy them a gift, Joystiq," they'll plead, "but they're literally just the most vile creature. They smell like cat food and their favorite movie is Ghost of Girlfriends Past and when I ask their favorite actor, they say 'Borat.' I just hate them." So, in a way, we owe a debt to 505 Games, which is releasing Grease, a singing and dancing game for Kinect and PlayStation Move, on November 4. Finally, we know the perfect video game gift for anybody on your shopping list, even someone you hate with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.

Supremacy MMA is all but guaranteed to be the supreme MMA game on at least one platform at launch: the PlayStation Vita. In addition to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, out September 20, publisher 505 Games announced a PlayStation Vita version, due "holiday 2011," thus putting it somewhere within the hardware's launch window. The Vita version packs exclusive stuff not seen in the console versions, including fighters, venues and undefined "features" exclusive to the handheld version. Sometimes you just need a quick shot of brutal hand-to-hand combat while you're out of the house. At least 505 hopes so.

  • Zumba Fitness stays atop UK charts for fifth week, LA Noire brings up second place

It seems that 505 Games' Zumba Fitness motion game is destined to occupy every living room in the UK, as it was the UK's highest selling title last week -- even after 31 weeks of availability. Regaining a place in the top five, Rockstar's LA Noire took second place, though it saw a 15 percent dip in sales. Here's where things get really depressing: Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami's excellent Shadows of the Damned debuted on the charts at number 31, beaten not only by the likes of recently released stinkfest Duke Nukem Forever, but even older titles like Art Academy and EA Sports Active 2. FEAR 3 faced a starkly different reception, landing the number three spot just below LA Noire. We're not mad, UK readers and EA marketers -- just, ya know, disappointed.

  • Blackwater is Zombie's latest shooter, your choice of Kinect or controller

Blacklight: Tango Down and Blacklight: Retribution developer Zombie Studios continues its series of shooters with the word "black" in the title with Blackwater, a First Person eXperience (no, really ... that's what it says) shipping for Kinect this fall. Named after the controversial private security company, Blackwater gives players the option of ditching the controller in favor of a hands-free experience. The game was developed "in conjunction with former members of the Blackwater team" to make sure all the moves and gestures are authentic. If using a controller feels more authentic to you (hey, Joystiq reader!) then you'll be glad to learn that the game is "also playable with a standard controller." We'll track it down at E3 this week to get our hands (and not hands) on it.

You love Tom Cruise. We get it, he's dreamy. You want to own everything even tangentially related to him, but there's a conundrum now that Days of Thunder and Top Gun are now both movies and games. Frankly, that's confusing. What's a Cruise fan to do? The answer is simple, as 505 Games will soon be releasing Top Gun and Days of Thunder hybrid Blu-ray discs. Each disc will include a copy of the movie and its respective game. Plus, it adds a physical case to the download-only games, so you can finally display them in your shrine! According to Amazon, the wonder-discs will be released on June 7 at $30 each. [Thanks, Josh]

If you liked Dawn of Fantasy's first developer diary showcasing the MMORTS' Stronghold Defense mode, then buckle up, because here we go again! This time, 505 Games' Gordon Farrell and Arielle Parkas up the ante by demonstrating the Kingdom Wars feature. Unlike the hop-in-and-out Stronghold Defense matches, Kingdom Wars challenges you to go on a global crusade to conquer all of the lands. It's here that you'll be building an army from scratch, laying siege to cities for their resources, engaging in diplomacy, and accomplishing quests -- all while fending off feisty computer and player forces. Kingdom Wars offers both single-player and multiplayer options, and players can pick of the three factions to rule. Of course, world-conquering isn't done by feats of martial skill alone; a shrewd king knows that creating a strong economy is a necessary foundation for victory. You can check out the full developer diary for this intriguing Dawn of Fantasy game mode after the jump!
