How Arrivo got Colorado to back a wild-eyed highway scheme Aaron Gordon, Wired Futuristic transportation company Arrivo, cofounded by Brogan BamBrogan and Andrew Liu, sold Colorado Department of Transportation on a plan to build a system that would move pods and cars on sleds at hundreds of miles an hour along the medians of the state's highways. The company said it could do so without Hyperloop-esque vacuum tubes. It never happened. In fact, the project never really started. No feasibility study. No proof of concept. And then Arrivo shutdown at the end of 2018 due to a lack of funding with a lot of unanswered questions.
China pours $1 billion into a 'Hyperloop' for cars
Just a day after Hyperloop TT announced a deal in China, another high-speed transport startup has done the same. Arrivo, Brogan BamBrogan's not-quite Hyperloop company, has entered into partnership with GTA a wholly-owned subsidiary of a company that's owned by the Chinese government. As part of the deal, GTA will offer up $1 billion worth of credit to back potential Arrivo projects worldwide.
Hollywood strikes back against illegal streaming Kodi add-ons
An anti-piracy alliance supported by many major US and UK movie studios, broadcasters and content providers has dealt a blow to the third-party Kodi add-on scene after it successfully forced a number of popular piracy-linked streaming tools offline. Denver will test its own Hyperloop-inspired transport system
Colorado's Department of Transportation has teamed up with Arrivo to use Hyperloop-ish technology to connect the city of Denver. The partnership is looking at ways to use vacuum tubes to reduce congestion and create a local transport area that bridges distances far faster than at present.
Bloomberg: Elon Musk is building his own Hyperloop
Elon Musk may have dreamt up the Hyperloop, but the bulk of its development has been carried out by others. When he unveiled the white paper in 2013, the South African billionaire said that his vision was "open sourced," and it would be for other startups to build it out. Now, however, sources close to Musk say that he will now build his own Hyperloop, starting with the New York to Washington D.C. route.
Exiled Hyperloop One co-founder launches rival venture
The former co-founder of Hyperloop One has made his grand return to the world of firing people across the country in vacuum tubes. Brogan BamBrogan has announced the launch of Arrivo, a new company that'll develop technology based on Elon Musk's Hyperloop concept. It's the third such company to enter the fray, competing with Hyperloop One and Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
