Motorola is making Android TVs too
Shortly after smartphone company OnePlus launched a TV, rival Motorola has decided to do the same. In partnership with Indian e-commerce site FlipKart, Motorola India unveiled Motorola TV, a range of smart TVs with IPS technology in sizes ranging from 32 to 65 inches. The sets will pack in a lot of tech, including Dolby Vision and HDR 10, while running Android 9.0 and shipping with a wireless Android TV gamepad.
OnePlus TV arrives in India next month
Following last week's name reveal, OnePlus says it will launch the OnePlus TV in September. The company's CEO, Pete Lau, revealed the launch date in a post on the OnePlus forums. In the same post, Lau adds OnePlus plans to first release the device in India, with a North American launch to follow at a later, unspecified date.
OnePlus' upcoming TV will simply be called the 'OnePlus TV'
OnePlus doesn't have a release date or any specs for its upcoming TV, but it does have a name: OnePlus TV. The company announced that it chose the very simple moniker from multiple winners of a contest on its forums. "We believe there's no other name that can best represent our value, vision and pride than naming it with our own brand," said a representative.
