Ship sub-systems working? Check. All stations reporting? Check. Weird guy with an enormous head peeking in from the vacuum of space? Wait a minute! As we see in today's One Shots, regular contributor Andrew got a surprise in Star Trek Online the other day -- in the form of a visit from a not-so-friendly alien lifeform that many Trek fans will recognize. So much for peace and quiet! He writes in to tell us more about this image: "I finally got a chance to meet up with Q in Star Trek Online during the weekend. It was such a great moment -- and a game highlight. This pic has my Rear Admiral 'Pojoh' finding the nefarious entity staring back at him from space. I geeked out. Looking for more Q action from STO in the future." Have you had someone sneak up on you during your recent MMO travels? If you'd like to share your moment of "whaaaat?" with us, then all you have to do is send in a screenshot to us here at oneshots@massively.com. Please make sure your image is at least 1024 pixels wide and has no visible UI elements. Additionally, it would be a good idea to make extra sure your files are attached to the email, as we've been getting a lot of mails lately without files attached! %Gallery-112285%

The harvests are done, and the hard farming work for another year is largely over. Well, unless you're in an MMO -- heavens knows we farm things all year round. Still, for those who want to take a bit of time away from that, Lord of the Rings Online offers fun at their Fall Festival -- the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself! Today's festive festival screenshot comes to us from Andrew, who travels in Lord of the Rings Online as Pojoh on the Firefoot server. He writes in to explain the scene: "[This is an image of ] my character, Pojoh, enjoying the festivities at the Fall Festival in Hobbiton, riding one of the Harvest Festival Ponies. [He's] having lots of fun." No matter how deep into your festival ales you get, you always can count on One Shots! Published every day, it's all about bringing you interesting views from around the MMOGsphere. However, we need you to help out by sending your images in. Just email them to us here at oneshots@massively.com, along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post the image on Massively and give you the credit! %Gallery-85937%

While One Shots is normally all about the stories that can be told in just one picture, every so often we like to mix it up a bit because a particular two-picture series will convey a story far better than only one image could. Such is the case with today's Star Trek Online screenshot that's come to us from Andrew (also known as Pojoh). Since this is a one-two punch of pictoral peculiarity, we're going to turn the rest of today's column over to him. Remember if you'd like to show off what's going on in your world, just email your screenshots to us at oneshots@massively.com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description. And now, a Star Trekkin' day in the life of Andrew, which continues beyond the break: "The scene: My Ferengi Captain, Pojoh, beamed onto a Federation ship that was worse for wear. In fact the only things holding it together were the containment fields. I wanted to test the containment field -- in this case open space was on both sides of a doorway. I jumped through...." %Gallery-85937%

There you are, wandering along, enjoying your day in your favorite MMO, when out of nowhere some monster decides that you look like a tasty snack. As you're close to a town or encampment, you perhaps think, "Aha, I'll just run over here and get some help." Well, sometimes, that help isn't coming, such as in today's Lord of the Rings Online One Shots sent in to us by Andrew (also known as Pojoh on the Firefoot server). He writes in to tell us his tale of indignation: "My burglar was running through the early part of Mirkwood and heading back to an elven camp to cash in a quest, when he was set upon by a foul goblin. Well, I was close to the elven encampment so I thought, 'hey, I'll run right up to the legion of Elven Guards, no way will the goblin reach me there.' What I didn't realize was that apparently the elves were SO entrenched in a meeting, that they couldn't help out a hobbit. Needless to say, I dispatched the goblin fiend, but not without being a bit perturbed by the laziness of some elves." One Shots needs screenshots! If you'd like to contribute to the cause, send in your screenshots to us here at oneshots@massively.com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description of what we're seeing. Please make sure your image is at least 1024 pixels wide, and has as few visible UI elements as possible. It may wind up as the next one posted here on Massively! %Gallery-85937%

  • One Shots: A little rest, relaxation, and ear rubbing

Here in the states we're celebrating Memorial Day -- a day to honor those who are serving in, or have served in the military. With that said, since we here at Massively deal in made-up worlds, we thought it might be nice to show off a few Starfleet officers enjoying some R&R in Star Trek Online! If given our choice, we'd probably pick a nice sandy beach as a great place for a party too -- but we'd ditch the heavy uniforms. Those have to be hot and itchy. Today's One Shots comes to us from Andrew, or Pojoh Findil Orthalle, as he's known in Star Trek Online, who writes in to give us the scoop on this fun scene: "I thought I'd send a picture of my Ferengi Captain, Pojoh, relaxing from a hard day of keeping the Federation safe. What better place to get one's ears rubbed, than on Risa. As you can tell, there were some other Captains 'gettin' down' in the background as well." What's your favorite place to relax in your MMO of choice? Why not grab a screenshot of your favorite downtime activity and send it to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. Be sure to include your name, the name of the game, and a note telling us about the screenshot. Your image could be the next we showcase here on Massively! %Gallery-85937%

While the Spring Festival horse issue may be bumming some Lord of the Rings Online players out, there's always one way to deal with it -- get completely hammered in-game! (Out of game hammering is entirely optional, mind you.) Of course, if you do decide to go chasing pink elephants, this is the type of sight that will likely greet you, as captured by Andrew, also known as Pojoh on the Firefoot server. He writes in to explain this blurry Lord of the Rings Online image: "My burg was enjoying the Spring Festival near Bree. [The] objective was simple -- go into a maze, drink some ale, walk out of the maze. When your screen looks like this, well... it's easier said than done. Really loving the festival and the effort that Turbine puts into these things." Are you taking part in an in-game event in your MMO of choice? If so, why not grab a screenshot of the merriment and send it to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. Be sure to include your name, the name of the game and a description of what we're seeing. Yours could be the next one featured here on One Shots! %Gallery-85937%

  • One Shots: My blue heaven

It's not too often that we get visual glitches from Lord of the Rings Online, and most of the ones we get seem to be easily corrected. Sometimes they're even quite pretty, as is the case with today's One Shots sent in to us by Pojoh from the Firefoot server. How precisely did this happen? We'll let him explain: After searching high and low and in-between, Pojoh, my burglar finally found the Blue Lady at Lake Evendim, behind a waterfall. I entered the instance, and decided to take a break before doing another quest, and logged out. When I logged back in, everything had turned blue. I appreciated the irony, since I was with the Blue Lady. This glitch was easily rectified when I walked out of the instance, and then entered back in, but not before I took this screenshot. Have you captured something strange, yet interesting in your favorite MMO? We'd love to see a screenshot of it. Send it in to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description. (Guild and server welcome as well!) We'll post it out here on Massively for everyone to enjoy. %Gallery-85937% %Gallery-9798%
