Terraria digs into XBLA and PSN in February, 505 Games' YouTube description on the above video reveals. The video itself shows off the brand-new content coming to the console versions, which we heard hints of back when the only release window was "early 2013."The console version of Terraria will include new controls (shocking), a world map and a new tutorial, armor, ultimate weapons, enemies, pets, music and a shiny new final boss. Terraria on consoles will also include local, split-screen multiplayer for up to four people and eight-player online multiplayer.Terraria hit PC on May 16, 2011, from developer Re-Logic, and by September 2012 it sold 1.6 million copies. It's kind of like developers at Re-Logic are digging for gold, but they found 1.6 million people to do all the actual labor for them.

Re-Logic's blockbuster RPG Terraria is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network from publisher 505 Games. 505 also announced the digger/builder/action-adventure's sold 1.6 million copies on PC, and that Dutch developer Engine Software is handling the upcoming conversion"I can't say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation3," said Andrew Spinks, the creator of Terraria, "To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It's always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction."The news of a console release of the 2011 indie game was first disclosed on its Facebook page, after teasing fans yesterday with word of a big reveal. The game comes to XBLA and PSN early next year.

Despite selling over 1 million copies of Terraria across Terra Firma, Merge Games believes the title has yet to reach a key demographic: PC game buyers without internet connections. Okay, okay, it's also possible that the Merge Games-published "Collector's Edition" of the Re-Logic-developed 2D indie hit is popular enough to warrant a version made especially for superfans, but we much prefer the concept of a board meeting to discuss a gradually disappearing group of people.Anyway, the collector's edition of Terraria will run EU residents £19.95 (€23.80/$31.30) when it arrives at retailers on March 16, and will come packed with "an exclusive in-game item, a poster, a key ring, and trading cards." That's about $20 more than the digital copy costs you on Steam right this minute -- but does that contain the adorable little pickaxe keychain (seen after the break)? Yeah, we didn't think so.It's unclear if the collector's version of Terraria will arrive in North America or Asia, but we've asked Merge Games for clarification.
