Storage Options is known to launch its own Android-powered slates in the UK every now and then, and, as of today, we can safely add one more to the outfit's expanding list. What's more, according to the company, the newly announced Scroll Evoke is its "most powerful" tablet to date, with that self-imposed tag likely gaining its status thanks to the pretty decent specs this 7-incher is packing. Aside from the 7-inch, 1024 x 600 display, though, the Scroll Evoke also boasts a dual-core, 1.6GHz Cortex A9 CPU alongside a mighty quad-core Mali-T604 GPU, 8GB of built-in storage (up to 32GB via microSD) and, to make things better, it's indeed running Jelly Bean (v4.1, to be exact). Storage Options pads out its budget ICS slate lineup by two
We know, we know. More Android tablets. But if you're in the UK and looking for a budget Ice Cream Sandwich slate with reasonable specs, you might want to listen up -- Storage Options has added two Android 4.0 tablets to its already-crowded lineup. The 8-inch Scroll Engage, at £130 ($200), slots between the existing 7-inch Excel and 9.7-inch Extreme models, with the same Cortex A8 1.2GHz processor and 1024 x 768 resolution. However, the eight-incher packs new Mali-400 dual-core graphics and doubles the RAM to 1GB. The bigger 9.7-inch Elite matches these, but totes a larger IPS panel at the same resolution, alongside 16GB of storage -- twice the amount found on the existing Extreme. A slightly heftier £200 ($305) price tag seems to be the only other difference between the two tablet siblings. Also included in the £189.99 ($303) deal are front 0.3 and 2-megapixel rear shooters, as well as allowing you to output regular and 3D content (because it knows you'll only watch Hugo on the big screen). It's also worth mentioning that your app needs have to be fulfilled by the SlideMe store (we don't blame you if you're unfamiliar), since this beast lacks the right credentials to access the Android Market. BlackBerry PlayBook update brings zip extraction, more storage options for attachments (updated)
RIM sure is working fast to bring its 500,000-strong BlackBerry Playbooks up to functional par. The tablet's been on the market for three short months and is already set to receive its fourth software update. This go 'round, RIM added the ability to save attachments to a removable SD card or your phone's internal storage, extract zip files from email (although you'll have to use Bridge and port from your BlackBerry smartphone), a pinch-to-zoom feature for video viewing and -- winner of the duh award -- portrait viewing for photos. Also, the software now supports 15 additional languages -- great news if you speak Galician. If you're planning on picking up this QNX tab, you'll receive the v1.0.7 update as part of the setup process. Current owners can wait for an update notification, or just pull it manually. So, what are you waiting for? Get downloading. Update: And it's gone. Seems some folks who downloaded the update were having connectivity issues using BlackBerry Bridge. RIM posted on Twitter saying users should expect a fix later this week.
