    Apple TV+ signs Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuarón to a multi-year deal

    Apple has scored a coup by landing Alfonso Cuarón, who won directing Oscars for Gravity and Roma, to a multi-year deal with its upcoming streaming service, Apple TV+. Cuarón will develop television projects exclusively for the service, marking one of the few times he's ventured out of the film production world, according to Variety.

    In 22 years, Netflix has gone from a DVD rental service to the future of entertainment, turning the existing industry on its head. At last night's Academy Awards, the company has, once and for all, upended the way the movie business works. It won three trophies for Alfonso Cuarón's Roma, including Best Foreign Film, Best Cinematography and, crucially, Best Director.

    Roma has been racking up praise from critics on the film festival circuit for months. Now that Netflix released a trailer for the film as it is gearing up for a limited theatrical run, it's easy to see what people have been raving about. The film from Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón is filled with stunning black-and-white visuals that pack tons of detail into every frame.

    Netflix releases its first trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's 'ROMA'

    We finally have our first look at Alfonso Cuarón's first Netflix feature and his first film after Gravity back in 2014. The streaming platform has released a trailer for the black-and-white flick ROMA, which was inspired by Cuarón's childhood (specifically the women who shaped it) back in the '70s. ROMA tells the story of a young Mixteco domestic worker who faces a devastating news while caring for the children of a middle class family, as well as the mother of the children who's dealing with her husband's extended absence.
