Nick Offerman -- star of Parks and Recreation, author of Good Clean Fun and carver of emoji -- made his first trip to CES this year. And no trip to the biggest tech show of the year would be complete without a stop at the Engadget stage. Offerman came by to share his thoughts on technology's pitfalls, working with your hands and the power of greeting cards. No, seriously. As part of American Greetings' new #DeviceLikeNoOther campaign, he is reminding everyone that sometimes an email or a text message isn't the best way to communicate how you feel. 'World's first' LCD greeting card captures your child's adoringly banal moments for posterity
The last time we saw Euri, Inc. the company was peddling a ring box with integrated LCD display (which presumably led a number of would-be brides to question their entire romantic history). This go 'round, however, it looks like the company's come up with something a little more tasteful -- the simply named Digital Slide Show Card. The fruit of a partnership with American Greetings, the digital greeting card line (billed as "the world's first") is essentially a digiframe with a 2.4-inch LCD that springs to life when the card is opened. With juice for about three hours of playback and storage for fifty images (or five minutes of MP3 audio), the cards can be recharged via USB and are priced at $19.99.
