New AR modes put 'Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp' characters in your world
Nintendo’s free-to-play mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is getting new AR features to let you interact with your favorite characters in the real world. The company announced AR Camera and AR Cabin modes that will let you place your animal neighbors in your surroundings via your phone and either hang out or take pictures with them. You can invite up to 8 different characters to hang out with in this space, in case you were feeling lonely and wanted a faux party during the pandemic.
'Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp' gets a 'New Horizons' crossover event
Nintendo is determined to build up hype for Animal Crossing: New Horizons ahead of its March 20th debut, and that includes bringing a taste of the game to the modern Animal Crossing game you can already play. It just kicked off a New Horizons crossover event in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp that gives you a feel for the Switch game's island setting. You can compete in Tom Nook's fishing tourney to get rewards for your campsite, catch "critters" from New Horizons and adorn your place with island-themed cosmetics.
Nintendo is adding subscriptions to 'Animal Crossing' on mobile this week
Mario Kart Tour was just the start of Nintendo's plans for mobile game subscriptions, it appears. The developer has notified gamers that it's bringing two subscription plans to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on November 21st, both of which aim to lighten the load. One plan will designate an animal as a "camp caretaker" that will provide help around your site. The other plan will let you receive fortune cookies as well as store your excess furniture and clothes in warehouses. The perks are slightly like Fallout 1st in that regard.
