Despite its absence in the US, Oppo is still known for its occasional fun attempts in the smartphone photography space, namely its 10x hybrid zoom and its experimental under-screen camera. As Engadget learned from a discussion with Oppo earlier today, its next flagship phone, the Find X2, will focus on something more fundamental: a faster and more accurate autofocus (AF), courtesy of a custom-made Sony sensor.

"Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses)." If you've got a 5D Mark II, 1D Mark IV, or Rebel T2i handy and have been keeping its firmware fresh, that phrase should be all too familiar; all three of those shooters have received updates in the past two months to fix such an issue, and now it's time for the EOS 7D to get a fix all its own. Our darling budding filmmakers' tool is also getting a few tweaks with AF point display and selection, and the multilingual copy editors of this world can breathe a deep sigh of relief as typos in the Spanish and Thai menus have been corrected. Well, what are you waiting for? Focus your lens on Canon's website and download away.

We were thinking of sending the FCC some flowers for Valentine's day last February for gifting us year-round with juicy scoops like Samsung's new SCH-A990 (well, kind of new -- see their SCH-Z710, pictured after the break), an EV-DO handset likely to feature a rotating QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel autofocusing camera, Bluetooth, and MicroSD slot. No knowing when this phone will hit the streets, but it'll be on Verizon, and we can assume it'll set you back some bank.[Via Phone Scoop]
