With everything that gets posted here on a daily basis, it's easy to lose track after posts fall off the first page. So I thought I'd throw up a reminder that we are currently looking to expand our staff with new bloggers and columnists -- and we'll be continuing to accept applications until Monday, March 26th. Think you have what it takes to join the team? Take some time to read through the job requirements and send in an application!

We're looking to expand our staff here at WoW Insider with new people and fresh perspectives. Getting paid to play isn't just a pipe dream -- though in this case you at least have to alt-tab out and write about your experiences. We're looking for two different types of contributers right now: regular bloggers and columnists. A blogger is someone who posts regular news, opinion, and feature content -- everything you see written here now is done by our bloggers. Columnists are a new addition to our team: a columnist would have a particular topic of interest (you get to choose your topic -- and pitch it to us) and make longer weekly or bi-weekly posts. (For a better idea of what sort of work we're looking for from a columnist, you can check out Bonnie Ruberg's Playing Dirty column and Scott Jon Siegel's Off the Grid column on our sister-site Joystiq.)Think you might make a good addition to our team? Well then, read on for all the details!

  • Apple gives up on Asteroid suit

Remember that rumored Firewire breakout box (codename: Asteroid) for Garageband that was leaked to a few websites? You know, the one that Apple decided was important enough to sue said bloggers to find out who their sources were? Ahh, I thought you would.Apple won the first ruling which would have made the websites turn over their sources, if said websites hadn't won the appeal. Apple has decided that it isn't worth their time to try and appeal that appeal, and so it looks like the bloggers won. Finally, I can safely blog about all the inside Apple information I have.... so any Apple employees want to give me any dirt?

  • Power to bloggers

This ain't strictly gaming related, but there's no doubt that the decision last week by a California appeals court to grant bloggers the same First Amendment rights that are afforded to traditional journalists can be a good thing for gamers. In a nutshell, the ruling means that we can't be forced by some wicked company to divulge the source of leaked information that we post on the blog. That means that information Joystiq sources send to us (either directly or via our anonymous tips form) and that we subsequently publish is generally protected under the First Amendment. This matters, because it improves the quantity and quality of information through us to you. Of course, company insiders who are considering divulging information to an online or offline writer of any sort still need to consider whether they can trust the writer to whom they intend to dish. The basic rules of relationships still apply, but this ruling should at the very least remove worry that those who publish online are somehow less protected than those who publish on dead trees.

  • macZOT! offers SubEthaEdit

Speaking of free, those crazy folks at macZOT! are at it again. They are running BLOGZOT 2.0 on MacZOT.com (what's up with all the caps?) in which several thousand copies of SubEthaEdit (totaling about $105,000 in software) might be given away. Why do I say 'might be given away'? Because the concept of the BlogZot is that a certain number of bloggers must write about it and submit their entries to MACZot! in order for the price to fall.

Just wanted to take a moment to point out something that some of you may have already noticed. We've enlisted the aid of two new bloggers here on TUAW: Victor Agreda, Jr. and David Chartier. You may know them both from DownloadSquad, and I am sure if you ever bother to read the comments here at TUAW, then you are more than familiar with Victor, who held our top spot in the commenter list in the side bar until yesterday when we enlisted him to blog over here. In any case, make them feel welcome....but not too welcome. Let the new TUAW blogger hazing begin!
