iPhone 101: Switch between audio outputs for your voicemail
Many iPhone users use a Bluetooth headset on their phones. However, they may not know that you can use the same headset to listen to their Visual Voicemail. To listen to your voicemail through your headset, just navigate to Phone > Voicemail. Once there, click the "Audio" button in the top right -- you will be presented with some options. If you have your headset paired with your iPhone, you will see a headset option along with the iPhone and Speaker Phone options. Sony's SOCOM PS3 Bluetooth headset priced, detailed for North America
We know, we know -- you already know most everything there is to know about Sony's SOCOM PS3 Bluetooth headset, but up until now, the most important tidbit has remained a mystery. The device will be launching this fall as part of the SOCOM: Confrontation bundle for $59.99, or if you just loathe the whole SOCOM series, you can pick it up all by its lonesome for $49.99. Tough call, huh?
Motorola "Jay-Z" Bluetooth headphones hit the FCC, branches on the ugly tree
Hmm, Hov, you may want to check the fine print on whatever deal you've got with Moto, because these Jay-Z-branded MOTOROKR S7-HD Bluetooth headset aren't exactly big pimpin' -- and compared to Dre's big ol' cans, they look downright sad. Of course, the FCC's legendarily nasty product photography isnt helping here, but even A2DP stereo support and the integrated mic can't salvage this mess -- was this really worth unretiring for?[Via Crave]
Zivio Boom offers 10-hours of talk... before it breaks
Announced at the turn of the year, Joby's 13-gram Zivio Boom Bluetooth 2.1+EDR headset with 10-hours of talk time (300 hours standby) is now shipping. The obvious feature here is that extending boom, which grows from a base of 53.5-mm to a delicate 137-mm. That little trick puts the mic directly in front of your hot, steaming chat box which supposedly results in better audio pickup (no yelling!) to the benefit of those on the receiving side of the call (and around you). $130, that's how much.
Jawbone: Get ticketed, get a discount
Who says crime doesn't pay?Aliph, makers of the ultra-cool noise-reducing Jawbone Bluetooth headset, have come up with a great marketing scheme. If you live in California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, or Washington -- all states with laws requiring hands-free use of mobile phones -- and receive a ticket for yapping with your iPhone plastered to your ear, Jawbone will deduct $20 off the purchase price of one of their headsets.You can't get a discount on the Silver Tongue model, but the prices for the Goldy Lips and Blah Blah Black versions end up at $129.99 and $109.99 respectively. All you need to do is go to the Jawbone website, look for the Hands Free Ticket Processor, and enter your state and ticket number. $20 is taken off the original purchase price, and you're ready to go.This is one case where I wish I did live in a nanny state that was forcing me to use a hands-free kit!
Apple's Bluetooth headset gets price reduction
If you've been looking to get the Apple Bluetooth headset for your iPhone (really, it works on any Bluetooth enabled phone/device/computer) then now is the perfect time to buy. That's because Apple has lowered the price by $30 (US). So you can now pick up a Bluetooth headset for $99 instead of the previous $129. However, Apple did make some sacrifices to get the price down: they no longer include the Dual Dock that allows you to dock both your iPhone and Bluetooth headset for charging/pairing. This is a huge bummer seeing as the Dual Dock now sells for $49. Apple does still include the docking travel cable, which allows you to charge your iPhone/headset, however, it is definitely not as nice to look at as the Dual Dock.Thanks, Dylan!
PlayStation-branded SOCOM Bluetooth headset revealed
Now that you've already picked up one of those Metal Gear Solid 4 headsets, what on Earth are you to do with another? We're hearing that the Blu-ray retail version of SOCOM Confrontation will indeed include a Bluetooth headset, and as you can clearly see above, it's a PlayStation-branded one at that. You'll also find a much needed mute button for keeping everyone else out of your whooping coughs, and a bundled USB cradle will keep it charged up when the battle subsides. Sony Ericsson births HBH-PV715, 720 and 740 Bluetooth headsets
Sony Ericsson's finishing off the onslaught today from Singapore with a trio of colorful Bluetooth headsets, perfect for anyone who doesn't mind talking straight ahead and receiving all sorts of weird glances from other patrons in the local mall. The HBH-PV715, HBH-PV720 and HBH-PV740 arrive in a variety of colors / patterns, boast at least 10-hours of talk time (and 700-hours in standby), and DSP / automatic volume adjustment. The units are aimed at value-driven, fashion-conscience and business-oriented consumers in order of mention, and while specifics (you know, like price) aren't stated, the trifecta will show up in "select markets" in Q4. %Gallery-25351%
Bluetooth headset-packing LG Decoy now available from Verizon
As expected, the LG Decoy launched on Verizon today, for the also-expected price of $179 (on a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate). That price tag includes the Decoy's claim to fame: a snap-on Bluetooth headset, as well as some all around decent if unremarkable specs, including a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.2-inch "mirror-like" 240 x 320 display, a micro SD card slot, V CAST music and video support and, of course, built-in Bluetooth. Verizon's LG VX8610 Decoy gets unboxed
We've already been treated to some specs, press shots, and pricing info, and now the gents at Mobileslate have given us a bunch of nice unboxing pics to round out the affair. ModeLabs launches Bluetrek Metal: thinnest BT headset on Earth
Every so often, we hear of yet another headset manufacturer claiming that their latest piece is in fact the smallest / lightest / most incredulous the world has ever seen. With the introduction of ModeLabs' Bluetrek Metal, you can rest assured that everything is still running par for the course. This Bluetooth headset checks in at just 4-millimeters thick and 5.5-grams, and we're told that the internal battery should last through 5-hours of yappin' or a week in sleep mode. Interestingly, we haven't a clue if this one's headed Stateside, but those in Europe can pop one in their ear canal soon for €39 ($61) / €49 ($76) depending on hue.[Via MobileBurn]
FCC outs Philips Breeze headset -- Swarovski never looked so greasy
Wow. Mr. FCC Photog trumps even Mr. Blurry Cam when it comes to blowing the easy spy shot. That's Philips unannounced Bluetooth Breeze headset with Swarovski crystals presented in a rich, man-glaze of test-lab sauce. According to the manual, the Active Crystals Breeze is your standard Bluetooth headset only this one is "designed by women, for women." Seriously, are we really that different?
Pelican's Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth headset gets photographed
See there, we told you it was authentic. The hotly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 BT headset is indeed more than a figment of your imagination, and IGN's UK branch has the photographs to prove it. Granted, the actual unit you see above is a pre-production sample, but nothing about it is slated to change before finalized products ship en masse. No, you won't magically become as phenomenal as Snake should you wrap this around your lobe, but you can get a decent idea if it's your bag by peeking the high-resolution shots in the read link below.
New Jawbone headset from Aliph now official
Don't call it Jawbone 2, Aliph's Jawbone sequel is the company's new flagship product, with the old Bluetooth headset being put out to pasture to make way for the new hotness. The new Jawbone is 50% smaller than the original, and includes "NoiseAssassin" technology, a followup on the noise canceling tech of the original. There's a faster processor on board to handle heavier signal processing duties for canceling out ambient noises better and faster, along with that Voice Activity Sensor which lets the Jawbone know when you're talking so the rest of the time can be noise free. A new fast charge battery can suck up 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, but the overall battery life is lower than the original, with 4 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby. The whole unit weighs in at 10 grams, and is available now for $130 at AT&T retail stores and online at Jawbone's site. Initially it's being offered in black only, but silver and rose gold (pictured after the break) versions are coming soon.
Brando keeps up the silly with Bluetooth PDA stylus "headset"
It looks like everybody's source of wonderfully useless gadgets has managed to pull yet another trick out of its hat, with Brando now breaking the common sense mold once again with the so-called " Stylus Hanging Bluetooth Headset." Apparently targeting those that find traditional Bluetooth headsets a little too convenient, this wonder of convergence crams a full-fledged Bluetooth headset into an over-sized PDA stylus, which will let you both talk on the phone and use your PDA -- just not at the same time (unless you use the earphone attachment, that is). $30 and it's yours.[Via The Raw Feed]
JayBird reveals JB-200 Bluetooth Stereo Headset
Chances are, that JB-100 you picked up 'round Christmastime last year isn't even broken in yet, but JayBird's already launching the aforesaid device's proper successor. The just-introduced JB-200 features complete AVRCP music / call controls, an improved fit (25-percent narrower ear-tip), better sound isolation, higher-grade silicon tips, boosted bass performance and a 1-inch longer behind-the-neck cord. For those rolling without an A2DP-capable handset / handheld, the company still offers up its Bluetooth Adapter for iPod or the Bluetooth adapter for MP3, the latter of which functions with practically any DAP or PMP. You'll also get around 5.5-hours of music listening time, 6.5-hours of talk time and 110-hours in standby mode. Metal Gear Solid 4 gets its own Bluetooth headset
First the console, now a Bluetooth headset -- what's next, Metal Gear Solid 4-branded bed linens? All kidding aside, the MGS4 headset that had been making the rounds of late is apparently very real. Slated to arrive on June 12th alongside the highly-anticipated title itself, the $59.99 unit will offer up 8-hours of talk time (160-hours in standby) and will function just fine with any other PS3 games that support online voice communication. Yeah, you can also pair this with your cellphone and use it in public, but we can't say we'd recommend all that.[Via PS3Fanboy]
Plantronics, Jabra intro Discovery 925, BT4010 Bluetooth headsets
Those in the market for a new Bluetooth headset now have a pair of new options to consider from two of the big handsfree players, with Plantronics and Jabra recently introducing their new Discovery 925 and BT4010 models. For its part, Plantronics looks to be after the more style-conscious user, with its 925 headset boasting the company's trademark VFrame design and your choice of Onyx Black, Alchemy Gold, and Cerise Pink colors. On the specs front, you can expect up to five hours of talk time, and AudioIQ noise reduction technology, along with a carrying case that also doubles as a charger. Look for it to set you back $150 when it hits stores next month. The Jabra, on the other hand, keeps things more conventional-looking, with a handy LCD display offering a bit of an upgrade over the usual blinkin' LEDs. Otherwise, you can expect a decent six hours of talk time, and so-called e-SCO technology, which promises to improve voice transfer from headset to phone. Jabra's BT3030 Bluetooth headset mimics dog tag
Falling somewhere before the BT8010 and BT8040, the BT3030 most definitely takes the crown for clever design. Jabra's latest Bluetooth headset, as you can glean from the image above, was crafted to mimic the traditional dog tag, and specifications wise, you'll find Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, HSP, HFP, A2DP and AVRCP support. Additionally, you'll find six buttons useful for sending / ending calls and controlling music playback, and yes, it will lower the volume when detecting an incoming call from your livid mother-in-law. Ditch that ear critter and pick up something slightly less appalling late next month in Japan (or right now in the US) for ¥8,980 ($90). Check out the gallery over on Engadget Classic.
Love To Talk Jawbone headsets make your other ear jealous
Quite frankly, the traditional Jawbone headset is pretty stylish as is. Nevertheless, Yves Behar has somehow managed to make it even sexier with the creation of the Love To Talk family. This trio, which will reportedly be made available "in a very limited quantity," consists of a gold Sweet Talk version, black Dirty Talk edition and white Trash Talk model. No word on a price nor where to actually find one outside of the totally shady black market, but feel free to take a closer look at each in the read link below.
