Fans anticipating the release of It's a Wonderful World won't have just a limited edition DS Lite bundle to look forward to; Square Enix announced today that preordering the Shibuya-district RPG in advance of its July 27th release will also net gamers a miniature kitten to hitch onto your handheld. The feline charm mimics Pochi, a stuffed cat that plays into Shiki Misaki's (IAWW's female lead) special attacks, and also doubles as a wipe to keep your DS screens free of dust and kitty litter. Pounce past the post break for some in-game screenshots of Pochi. See also: Just about the oddest/cutest/scariest thing you will ever see More from the DS cat

  • Hello Kitty takes a dip in USB-powered aquarium

You might wonder why a cat would enjoy being trapped inside a container of water, but as you should already know, all rules are thrown out when it comes to Hello Kitty. The USB-powered aquarium features a couple of oh-so-cute Hello Kitty mermaids in a snow globe / fish tank fantasy land, and while we're sure the hordes of fanboys and girls just adore the idea, this one could actually satisfy those on the other end of the spectrum as well -- fess up, it's not too often that you get to satisfy your SO and take pleasure in holding your (least) favorite feline underwater for an indefinite period of time, right?

  • Disabled inventor crafts DinnerUp pet feeder

After a solid four-mile run on the Doggy Treadmill, it's not too tough to understand why Fido is famished, but for folks who are disabled in ways that make bending down or moving around in general difficult, getting the pet food from the pantry to the bowl has been a serious chore. Thanks to a retired engineer (who was stricken by cerebral palsy) that figured he better solve his own problem rather than wait for someone else, the DinnerUp apparatus was concocted, and now it's on the brink of commercialization. The device mounts onto a kitchen counter or door and relies on a hand crank / clutching system in order to lift the attached bowls to a level that's easy to reach, after which it's lowered back down to the anxious pets below. Currently, Ray Dinham is assembling the units himself and offloading them to "satisfied customers" for £70 ($140) apiece, but it shouldn't be long before the manufacturing is "outsourced to a UK-based firm" and these gain some serious worldwide traction.[Via BBC]

  • Dream a little Dream of Neko

Have you ever idly wanted to be a cat? Well, perhaps the felines dream about being you, as well -- at least, that's the story behind Dream of Neko, a new game headed to the DS. Neko, a kitten (how's that for an original name) who dreams of the freedom of humans, awakens one day to find that he's become one ... but it must not be all it's cracked up to be (we'll vouch for that), because Neko sets off on an epic quest to regain kittenhood. Hey, we're all about the good things in human life, like video games and steak, but sometimes, we'd just like to relax with a ball of string and a pillow as well. We can relate. Dream of Neko has a tentative third quarter release for Europe so far, and little else is known at this time.

  • An Outland gear guide for feral druids

Kaliban's Class Loot Lists (a.k.a. WoW Loot) does a pretty good job at providing overall views at gear for different classes, but I've never seen anything as detailed as this incredible list of Burning Crusade feral drood gear. They've got what looks like every piece for every gear slot, all organized according to its benefit to feral druids. And in addition to the Bear tanking gear list, whoever put this together (I heard about it from outintospace) has also provided a gear list for "Cat durids" (they're for fite)-- both for sustained DPS and burst DPS. This is a lot of work-- even if there was some kind of script involved in an API, this is a lot of information to put together and organize, and it could be the only gear guide you'll ever need as a feral druid in Outland. It's got all the way up to Tier 5, too, which makes this even more complete than Kaliban's List. Tier 6 isn't in there, but of course that's because we're just now hearing about what it will be. There you go, feral druids-- now you know exactly what gear you want and where it is. Get to tanking!Update: And to go along with the Hunter Wiki from a few days ago, someone has started a Druid Wiki as well. Thanks to commenter Metaphyzxx for the link!

Remember the cute, yet scary DS kitty? That little Lite-playing furball has been turning up all over, and the site where the picture originated features several other examples of adorable kitty antics. Unfortunately, it looks like this is the only Nintendo-themed set, but we have high hopes that kitty will someday again be tempted by the DS ... or that the owner will decide to encourage more pictures.

There's no reason DS Fanboy should have all the fun, amirite? While our submission for cutest pic of the day doesn't have quite the eyebrow-raising WTF quotient that the DS pic can boast, we figure this one can at least elicit an 'aww' from the saltiest of our fanboys. Go ahead. It's okay to think it's cute when the pets cuddle your electronics. [Thanks, Owen!]

  • Ridiculous "black 360" with ridiculously cute cat [update 1]

This "black 360" crap is really getting silly. That's a test kit that my cute-ass cat is pwning. Nothing more. Yes, we'd love to see a black 360. We'd also love to see an orange one. And a green one. And a pink one. Eventually, these things may come. But the black 360 hooked up to a Samsung monitor is nothing more than a test kit. Can we move on now? [Update 1: posted another photo of a cute cat with the same type of Xbox 360 debug/test/review kit after the page break. Thanks, Dan!]

  • Caterpillar looking to build robotic machinery

Robotic machines certainly aren't reserved for just party hopping -- as we've seen automated firefighters and unassisted surgeons doing their thang already -- and Caterpillar isn't about to fall behind the times, as its looking to "smart iron" to maintain that edge in the oh-so-fierce heavy machinery biz. By investing a hefty amount of its non-finance revenue back into R&D, CAT is hoping that within a few years its earthmovers will be operating sans the operator. While also working on fuel cell-powered machines on the side, the company is looking into GPS integration in order to examine terrain, geography, and location from afar, as well as utilizing autonomous instructions to handle lifting, moving, and the myriad of dirty chores those yellow behemoths must handle. While machines that roll solo are certainly ideal, remote controlled versions are also being evaluated, so expertly trained drivers can direct their vessel(s) from the comfort of a dust free, air conditioned office. CAT's CEO is definitely amped about the robotic possibilities, and reportedly hopes to see results wheeling around your neighborhood "10 or 15 years down the road."
