  • Thong wearing zombie slayer is boring?

On the surface, Oneechanbara Vortex sounds like the greatest game ever created. You play a bikini wearing, katana wielding supermodel of a woman whose mission is the slaying of zombies. In theory, the only way you could make this game any better is to throw in some ninjas and pirates. Unfortunately, like so many great ideas, it works wonderfully on paper, but fails in the execution. Granted, we haven't actually played Oneechanbara X, but if this video is any indication, it looks like a real snoozer. Boring, generic hack and slash gameplay seems to be the order of the day, and the shooting character looks even worse. Watch the video after the break.

  • New puzzler, Cube, encourages sharing

When I first saw an update for a new PSP game called Cube, I got scared. Was it a game adaptation of the film "Cube," one of the worst films I have ever seen? Thankfully, no. It's a new puzzle game from D3 Publisher. While the PSP is certainly not lacking in the puzzle genre, Cube deserves a bit of attention due to it being of the few games to take advantage of PSP's unique capabilities. Firstly, the game includes a level editor, allowing you to upload and download new content from other Cube owners. More excitingly, the game also features Game Sharing multiplayer, allowing gamers with just one copy of the game to go head to head. The lack of complexity in the graphics and presentation probably makes it possible for Game Sharing to work, and to be honest, I'm excited that it does. It's hard enough to find a PSP owner to play against; Game Sharing will make it infinitely easier to go head-to-head with a person next to you. Expect more updates as the game's February release gets closer.[Via IGN]

  • Seitz Roundshot D3: take a 360-degree panorama in two seconds flat

Remember that ridiculously-sized but utterly awesome Seitz 6x17 Digital that we showed you yesterday? Well, Seitz has another one to wave around at this year's Photokina. This time, though, it's a 360-degree cam that'll capture 470 million pixels worth of color and light, and furthermore, will complete that task in two seconds -- less than the amount of time it's taken you to read half of this paragraph. Like the 6x17, the Roundshot D3 has a ISO range from 500 to 10,000, accepts lenses from 24mm to 250mm and comes with a maxed out Mac mini to act as its oversized flash card. The D3 is more expensive than the 6x17, however, with the mobile version taking a sizeable 46,900 francs ($37,463) from that numbered Swiss bank account of yours, while the studio version comes in at 43,700 Swiss francs ($34,906). In either case, you'll probably want to head over to the Seitz site to get in line to pre-order this bad boy, which is due to hit the streets of Geneva by early 2007. Oh yeah, and make sure to catch a big pic of the D3 on the next page.Read

  • Celebrate PSP Fanboy's 1,000th post, win WTF

In honor of their 1000th post, the boys at PSP Fanboy are giving away a copy of the upcoming "work simulator" WTF (née Baito Hell 2000). All you need to do to throw your name in the ring is suggest an alternative meaning for the titular acronym besides Work Time Fun (or that other meaning ... you know what we're talking about). Our favorite so far: ZENegade's "WTF = Win The For!" ... or Silver R. Wolfe's "Warioware turns fun!" which, though blasphemous and heretical, is appropriately fanboyish. How about Western Truck Fab? No? Well, let's see you do better! Head over to PSP Fanboy and let em hear it, you might win something.

It's been a long time since PSP Fanboy opened its doors and said "Hello World!" In fact, it's been one thousand posts since that time. Here are some of the more memorable moments in the past one thousand posts: Our first-ever user comment! Our first-ever Japanese sales report! (PSP's best-selling game was Brain Trainer Portable... original) The first time Samuel L. Jackson was pictured on the site The first time we used "WTF" in a title The first time we showed you people breaking their PSPs for fun The first time we had more than 30 comments (also: The first time we pitted the DS against the PSP, proving that flame bait = the mad traffic increase) The second time we announced the site going live (strange...) The first time prolific comment poster pixelator made a comment The first time new blogger Andrew Yoon wrote a story The first time new blogger Chris Powell wrote a story Hope you enjoyed our little retrospective look at the site. To bribe you to keep on coming back thank you for being such a loyal reader, we're giving away a free copy of the upcoming PSP game WTF. The game features tons of zany mini-games, and includes Game Sharing so you can play with your friends. To win your copy of WTF, think of a new meaning for the acronym. The PSP game stands for Work Time Fun. Try to think of a new, funny meaning for it (besides the obvious one). For example: Wax That Fanny, Women Touching Franks, Wank The Ferret, etc.Post a comment with your idea, and we'll choose one random person to get the game. The winner will receive their prize after 9/26/06. Contest ends on 9/12/06. Thanks, D3 Publisher!

  • Hot chick kills zombies, gains fame

Oneechanbara X, the game whose heroine is a katana wielding girl wearing a thong, straw hat, feather boa, and not much else, is odd to say the least. Add to that list one more thing, she's a zombie slayer. That's right, Xboxygen has posted several shots of our hero slicing up legions of the undead. Still no word on whether or not the game also contains ninjas, Nazis, or pirates -- or if the game will see release outside of Japan at all. Here's hoping. You can check out the official website (in Japanese, natch) here -- age verification required, can't imagine why.

  • Admit it, girls with swords are awesome

While typing up the post on the new Saints Row video, I stumbled across some Famitsu images of the Japanese game, Oneechanbara X. That's the hero character over on the right: a girl wearing panties, a straw hat, a katana, and what looks like a feather boa. Famitsu was kind enough to print an English translation of Oneechanbara X, which reads "The Devil Evolution Human." Hopefully, when and if this title makes it to the states, publisher D3 will give it a more fitting title. Allow me to suggest one: "The Adventures of Panty Samurai: Escape from Thong Mountain."If a half naked chick with a sword can't move 360s in Japan, what can?
