The Capcom store has heavily discounted two games that both happen to feature Frank West: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Both Wii exclusives can be yours for $11.50, unless you want a side order of FightStick with that Tatsunoko sammich.

  • Don't stare directly into the Dead Rising Wii 'Maintenance Tunnel' video

Before watching the video we've posted after the jump which depicts Dead Rising: Chop Til' You Drop's version of the memorable "maintenance tunnel" sequence, we suggest strapping on your strongest pair of UV-protective eyewear. If you possess no such ocular shielding, here's a helpful site that can show you how to make one of those pinhole projector boxes you can use to view solar eclipses. It may be a bit too much artsy and craftsy trouble for you to go through for just one video, but we feel it's a necessary precaution. We knew Capcom was going to be making a few cutbacks in order to make Dead Rising: CTYD Wii-friendly, such as a reduction in the maximum number of on-screen zombies. We don't really care about that -- but if the final version of the game offends our senses of sight and sound (and yes, even taste) as the post-jump video has, well, that would be a noteworthy cause for concern.[Via GoNintendo]

  • Capcom steps up to defend Dead Rising Wii

You don't have to be a seasoned photojournalist -- even one who's covered wars -- to recognize inconsistencies between Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop and the Xbox 360 original. Now, Capcom's Colin Ferris has stepped up to defend the February release, stating that while the company is "quite concerned" over criticism of the title, it "was not designed for side-by-side graphics comparisons with the 360." Instead, the product marketing manager states simply that it "was designed to be a fun Wii game."Ferris openly admits that the Wii-take won't look as "beautiful" as the original, nor will the Willamette Parkview Mall's escalators be as crowded with the recently deceased, facts we have already accepted, albeit begrudgingly. "Does that mean we should deny Wii gamers the joy that 360 owners had in surviving three days in a zombie-infested mall," asks Ferris. "The answer is, obviously, no." Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop is expected to shamble onto retail shelves for the Wii on February 24.

He may have covered wars, but when Frank West makes a return visit to the Willamette Parkview Mall to buy a case of waggle, he'll do so without his trusty camera in tow. Rather than blaming brain freeze (journalists are prone to this, you see) Capcom explains that the shutterbug's best friend was chopped in favor of a camera of a different sort.According to OMG Nintendo, Minoru Nakai, director and producer on Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop, describes the upcoming Wii port as "a very different game" than the Xbox 360 original, with a Resident Evil 4-style camera that "stays fairly tight behind Frank." Apparently this makes snapping pics, erotic or otherwise, of the undead not work so well.We hope Frank doesn't feel too naked without his trusty 35mm, though it looks like the photojournalist has that situation well in hand.[Via N4G]

Capcom is set to release two high-profile Wii titles during Q1 of next year: MotoGP and Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. Even though the latter has caught some flack for its failure to populate each and every screen with countless zombies, it's still a pretty important title for Capcom. So, when should we expect these? Well, for those of us in North America, Dead Rising releases on February 27th, with MotoGP dropping sometime in March. In Europe, Dead Rising will be available on February 27th, and MotoGP will release sometime in mid-March. %Gallery-28028%[Via Joystiq]

Oh, dear reader, we don't even know where to begin. In this Japanese trailer for Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop for Wii, a zombie punk band entertains the entire cast of the game, zombies included. Witness flying chainsaws, slap-happy security guards and a very pushy, mic-stealing Frank West. The weirdest part of all? Zombie and Man living together in perfect harmony. Don't say we didn't warn you.[Via NWF]

Ladies, let us give you a tip for when the zombie apocalypse goes down: pack extra pants. We're not sure what could cause the ladies trapped in the Willamette Mall to lose the lower half of their outfits, but, sure enough, that's the reality here in Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. Rule two? Steer clear of pet shops that sell poodles and parrots.Head past the break to check out the video.%Gallery-28028%

No, not the kind of clown from outer space or anything, but one of the most challenging bosses in the original Dead Rising game: the insane, dual chainsaw-wielding clown. If you played the original Dead Rising, then you know that this individual is both tough to battle and completely insane. But, hey, if we were stuck in a mall filled with the undead, we might go a bit bonkers, as well.Hit up this link to check out the screens.%Gallery-28028%

The game is slated for a February 2009 release in the region, meaning that those of us in North America, and you fine Europeans, will have to wait a bit longer than that to get our hands on the game. Somehow, we always imagined the impending zombie apocalypse would involve more ... zombies. This latest footage of Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop for Wii sees protagonist Frank West running sauntering through swarms groups of hundreds dozens 10 crazed bored zombies on what appears to be Super Bowl Sunday (or during the American Idol finale). It's nice to see the improved aiming mechanic in action, even if it is lifted directly from Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition. There's a longer gameplay trailer after the break, although we don't recommend viewing it while driving or operating heavy machinery.Source – GC 2008 Debut Trailer, GameTrailersSource – GC 2008 Debut Gameplay, GameTrailers

  • Dead Rising Wii controls explained

    08.11.2008

If you're curious as to how Capcom plans to capitalize on the Wii's motion controls for the Dead Rising port (hint: it involves a lot of waggling), IGN has outlined a handful of ways the developer plans to enhance the port. Unsurprisingly, shooting with a hand gun (as seen above) will be done via pointing at the screen, with the reticle changing to red when you're highlighting a zombie weak point. If you're using a long-zoom weapon like a sniper rifle, however, aiming is done with the nunchuk's analog stick and zooming via the Z and C buttons.Other weapons will have Wii remote-specific controls, such as shaking the remote to build up charge on your baseball bat to ensure a "home run swing." You can assign weapon shortcuts to the D-pad. And should an overly-affectionate zombie want to give you a hug, shake the monster off by -- you guessed it -- shaking the Wii remote.
