Word on the street is that Wal-Mart is offering exclusive Xbox 360 premium consoles bundled with a free game for the same premium price of $399. The discount superstore is selling two bundles; one includes a free copy of MotoGP 06 and the other includes Burnout Revenge. The odd thing is my local Wal-Mart doesn't have these special bundles in stock, so can someone confirm that these are actually available? [Thanks, Gregory C.]

Is there ever a bad time? Well several pretty good deals expire this month, so it might pay to do your Christmas shopping earlier rather than later. Speaking of the Christmas rush, with all this focus on Microsoft's stated goal of 10 million consoles shipped by year end, shouldn't there be a special prize for the soul who takes home that shimmering 10 millionth Xbox 360 and makes Robbie Bach's holiday?

Someone over there at Stootsi.com must be a 360 fan, because it seems like they have a deal on 360 peripherals every other day. Today's deal is an Xbox Live headset for only $8.99. After $5.00 shipping, it's $13.99, saving you $6.00 (plus tax) off of the retail price. Sure, it's not as comfortable as my favorite, the glasses-friendly GameCom X20, but at $13.99 the price is right. You've got just over twenty hours before this deal is history, so if you need a new headset, you'd best get cracking.[Thanks, Ryan Strayhan and get over it]

Stootsi.com is having a sale on the Live Vision camera. They are currently offering the $79.99 bundle, which includes a year of Xbox Live Gold, for $54.99 plus $5.00 shipping. That's $20.00 off the regular price. It's a pretty good deal if you haven't already picked one up. Stootsi has even provided potential buyers with a list of "things that will have to change now that you're gaming on camera": Keep the stack of pizza boxes to eight high or less Church-goin clothes in case you meet that special someone Heavy reduction in obscene pelvic-thrusting after a headshot (.... what?) No more Cheetos stains, or an Orange-centric wardrobe Do something so that your parent's basement doesn't look so much like your parent's basement Put those Ninja pajamas to good use, finally Silverware for your hot pockets Make your ethnic slurs a little more subtle You'll have to change your 'No Meth for Minors' policy to clean up your gaming room Like P. Diddy says, "Preserve your sexy" with Pro-Activ skin solution Anybody plan on picking one up? Remember, you only have one day to get this deal.[Thanks, James Martin and Nate]

  • Sign away your soul, get a 360

Engadget is plugging a Bell Canada Sympatico program that lets you "lease" an Xbox 360 for the low, low cost of $60 a month provided you sign a three year contract for internet service. The price includes a Premium console, GRAW, NHL 07, Xbox Live Arcade Vol 1, three months of XBL GOLD and 1,250 MS Points, plus a wireless modem. It's not really a lease per say, because as far as I can tell you own the Xbox and accoutrements outright once you sign on the dotted line. It's more like a Japanese-style gimmick for luring Canucks into a looong service contract. Rest assured you will have paid retail plus for your goodies by the time this deal is done. Still, if over-priced 5mbps DSL until 2010 is acceptable to you, it might be an easy way to get set up for the Holidays without shelling out the big bucks up front. Does anybody know of any similar deals in the States?

  • Lease an Xbox 360 for only $1,917*

    by

    10.22.2006

*Price includes Tom Clancy's G.R.A.W., NHL '07, Live Arcade Volume 1, three-month Xbox Live Gold membership, 1,250 Microsoft points, a wireless modem, and three years of Sympatico high-speed internet from Bell Canada. With "next-generation" consoles being released every three to four years nowadays (save for Sony's PlayStation 3, which has a stated 10-year life span), some people (read: parents and spouses) are a little hesitant to throw down upwards of $300 for a system that will probably be gathering dust in the attic even before the wireless controllers need replacing. Well Canadian children will soon have a new angle to work when begging their folks for an Xbox 360, thanks to a package that Bell Canada will be offering from November 5th through sometime next year which includes Microsoft's latest console, a handful of games, and broadband service for CAN$59.95 a month (or CAN$54.95 for you lucky Quebecers). The catch here is that you need to sign up for an unusually long three-year commitment; furthermore, it's unclear if you'll be able to purchase the nearly-worthless console at the end of the contract or be given the opportunity to upgrade to an Xbox 361 once it hits stores. It's also not clear what kind of upload / download speeds you're getting with this offer -- an important piece of the puzzle in deciding whether or not this bundle is a good value. Still, if you're the type who's already renting your apartment, leasing your car, and paying way too much money to Rent-A-Center each month for your home theater gear, this promotion may be right up your alley.[Via digg and HappyBeggar]

Buy a copy of Splinter Cell: Double Agent for $59.99 CA (already $10 off the regular Canadian price) and get 12 free months of Xbox Live. I've had a soft spot for the Bust-A-Move series ever since I fell in love with it on the Sega Saturn, so it really made my day when I saw that Circuit City is selling Bust-A-Move Deluxe for only $10.The deal is good in-store or at Circuitcity.com, however, it's currently showing out of stock on the website.Deluxe has a 73 percent Gamerankings score and includes new characters, a new Ghost mode and has more than 1,000 puzzles. I haven't had a chance to play it, but with this amazing deal, it's just too good to pass up.[Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]

  • Assassin's Creed CE with 12" figurine

    10.20.2006

Collector's editions, seems like they're everywhere these days. Not one to miss the party, Ubisoft plans to offer a limited edition of Assassin's Creed. Not only that, but this particular collector's edition stomps others into the dust. Included in the box is a 12" painted figurine of everyone's favorite assassin, Altair. Now that's a collector's item.We don't know if this set will make it to the US (or Europe for that matter), but Play-Asia is currently taking pre-orders for a region free version. That means it will work on any 360 on the planet. The box set itself is a reasonable $59.90, but the cheapest US shipping will run you $15.20. That puts this pretty package at $75.10, which is about what any other collector's edition would cost with tax. Assuming you've got the dough, your next problem will be figuring out where to put the Chief. See a larger picture of the figurine after the break.[Via Joystiq]

    10.02.2006

Do you remember all those incredibly great Memory Stick deals a while back? Well, it looks like a new round may be upon us as Outpost is offering a 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo for a measly $90 after rebate. And to make the deal even better, there's even an offer for free shipping. Can't beat that. It's amazing how quickly the Memory Sticks are dropping in price since it was only January when the 4GB and 8GB sticks were unveiled. With this rate, the 32MB sticks Sony bundled with the PSP will be virtually worthless, if they aren't already.[Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]

I really believe Tomb Raider: Legend is going to be looked at as the game that got the series back on track. Sure, it had its fair share of problems, like being too short, but the game looks so pretty and plays so well, it's definitely worthy of being in any gamer's library. And now, you can get a used copy of Legend for only $20 at Gamefly.com. Yeah, Gamefly is that online video-game rental site, but they do sell their stock every now and then. And, if you're a Gamefly member, you get an extra 5 percent knocked off your total.Get 'em while the gettin's good![Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]

  • Motorola buying Symbol Technologies for $3.9 billion

    09.19.2006

Two of our favorite companies (well, more like two companies that we've heard of) have just announced that they'll be getting nice and cozy in the next few months, with cellphone giant Motorola agreeing to buy barcode-scannin', RFID-taggin' Symbol Technologies for about $3.9 billion. Besides handsets, Moto also has a significant foothold in the mobile enterprise market, and Symbol's RFID, barcode, and ruggedized PDA products will supposedly double its presence in inventory management while at the same time "being accretive to earnings," according to analyst Lawrence Harris of Oppenheimer & Company. The deal will reportedly be completed later this year or in early 2007, at which time Motorola will change the name of its new acquisition to SMBL.

It looks like Microsoft is coming through with some solid 360 bundles to kick off the shopping season. According to Yahoo Games, select retailers in the UK will offer the following bundle-licious value for £300 starting this Friday:• A 360 console, complete with headset communicator and 20GB hard drive. • A copy of Project Gotham Racing 3. • Not one, but two wireless controllers. • A Component HD AV cable with SCART adaptorStill no confirmation on the GRAW / XBLA Unplugged bundle rumored for the US last week, but this would seem to add credibility. First person to actually score one of these deals please report.
