Turbine continues developing and publishing their content updates at a pace unmatched by pretty much any other developer. They've announced today via Twitter that Volume II, Book 8: Scourge of Khazad-dum will be coming this June -- just about three months since the last update back in March. Seriously, the men and women at Turbine are like game developing machines. They must be robots, it's the only explanation. The patch notes are already out, but we've got something even better in store for you Lord of the Rings Online players out there. Massively will be doing yet another developer tour for Vol. II, Book 8 very soon. So expect all sorts of screens and details to whet your appetite for the eventual patch day sometime in the 720 hours or so!

  • Fans to determine stops on Fallen Earth dev tour

We've mentioned a unique approach the Fallen Earth team is taking to promotion of their post-apocalyptic MMO, a US dev tour. At least one of us at Massively first pictured something like the Gwar tour bus roving about the U.S., or a caravan of armor plated VW buses stuffed with mohawked techno-fetishist cannibals. The reality is far more mundane (less lawnmower blade boomerangs, more 'grassroots'), but at least you won't be risking life and limb to preview the game and speak with the Fallen Earth creators. Even better, the fans themselves can determine the next stop on the Fallen Earth dev tour by sending SMS text-based votes to the dev team. So if you're hungry for more Fallen Earth info, you can apparently have the devs delivered. The list of 15 potential cities and the rules about how to vote through SMS are listed on the Fallen Earth contest announcement page. They've got an FAQ there as well that should cover most of the questions that could arise in connection with the contest.

Finding safe passage below the leaves of Lothlórien is no easy task, especially when it requires you to earn the trust of the Galadhrim. So it's a very good thing indeed that LotRO Life has you covered with a very well put together guide on this very subject!Trust us, you really want to complete the quests suggested in this guide. We tried to just stroll into the Golden Wood without actually earning and trust and got a mouth full of Elven arrows. It wasn't pleasant, and subsequently now we're eating all our meals through a straw.Oh, and if you're wondering why we'd do something so very stupid, then you really need to see the Golden Wood screens in our Lord of the Rings Online book 7 gallery and dev tour gallery.%Gallery-47129%%Gallery-46767%

There is no doubt that 2009 will be remembered as the advent of quality free-to-play MMOs. No longer will there be a stigma that F2P equals unplayable quality, as games like Runes of Magic and Atlantica Online will grab the attention of the normal triple-A gamer. Will it last? Will it change the face of MMO gameplay and business models forever? While there's certainly an inevitable evolution involved in every form of media and entertainment, we believe Atlantica Online will make a lasting impression in the genre.Officially launched on October 30th, 2008, Atlantica Online has already garnered the title "Best F2P MMO" from many gaming sites. It is supported through microtransactions that don't affect the game play itself, and sports a turn-based combat system that focuses on strategy, rather than how fast you can click your mouse. Massively got a chance to sit down with Ian Keller of Atlantica Online for an exclusive interview regarding the game's best, and little-known game features. Follow along after the cut below for a look at our time with Atlantica Online.

Earlier last month, Massively was invited to get a hands-on look at Mines of Moria, the first-ever expansion for Lord of the Rings Online with Turbine's Adam Mersky and Moria Producer Mike Jablonn. During this special dev tour, we were treated to many of the features of the new environments, new creatures, certain landmarks and the Legendary Item system. We came back with loads of screenshots, video footage and an insatiable desire to speed up time until we can play this expansion on our own! As there is still no official launch date outside of "Fall 2008", we're getting a bit antsy for this game to hit store shelves. From what we've seen though, it's coming very soon. We've compiled the screenshots into an enormous 43-image gallery that also acts as a comprehensive visual tour of what we were shown of Moria. Simply start the tour by clicking on the first image in the gallery, or the link below. And when you're done, check out our video of the tour. Begin the Visual Tour >> %Gallery-33074%
