Dungeon Hearts, the game Devolver Digital found in the back of a bus last year, is coming to PC, Mac and iPad on March 28. Cube Roots' game combines RPGs and match-three puzzles, allowing you to perform attacks by matching "runes" on the "Fatestream." The effect is visually similar to Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy, although the scrolling line of icons has a different meaning in this game than it does in Square Enix's rhythm RPG. Dungeon Hearts has the advantage of having a title made up entirely of real words, as well.Dungeon Hearts will launch on Steam and assorted other digital distribution services for $2.99.%Gallery-180878%

Taste the happy, Vita and PS3 owners, because the raw violence-o-rama that is Hotline Miami is coming to the PlayStation platforms this spring as a cross-buy game. That means a single purchase entitles you to versions on both platforms. The ports are being developed by Abstraction Games under the guidance of original developer Dennaton Games. You might recognize Abstraction's name from previous PSP and DSiWare conversions of Angry Birds and Cut the Rope respectively, as well as WiiWare puzzler Potpourrii (and if you do, kudos to you).Publisher Devolver Digital also revealed the 80s-infused ultraviolence of Hotline Miami is proving a hit on PC, with 300,000 sales to date.

Serious Sam Double D XXL is poised to ambush Xbox Live Arcade on February 20, running and gunning for 800 MS Points ($10). The XXL XBLA version brings brand new features, missions, weapons and local two-player co-op. The Gunstacker, which allows players to throw a myriad of weapons right on top of one another, has more than 30 new guns alone.Last year we heard, Serious Sam Double D XXL was scheduled to launch in the fall, but a game like this one doesn't play by society's rules, man.%Gallery-175770%

  • Hotline Miami review: Dial M

The crux of Hotline Miami is pretty simple: high speed, precision murder. It's brutal, disgusting, and incredibly violent, which is bound to turn off some players. Those who can stomach it – or console themselves with the belief that it's really just a commentary on violence itself man – will find one of the better arcade action games to come along in a while. At the behest of a mysterious trio of men in animal masks, the nameless protagonist travels to numerous seedy locations – clubs, drug dens, crime lairs – and proceeds to extinguish every living soul on the premises. The abilities at your disposal are limited to the bare essentials: Melee weapons and guns can be swung, shot or thrown, and enemies can be executed. On top of all this, you can only hold one weapon at a time. It's a limited tool box, but it allows for a surprisingly broad variety of possibilities.%Gallery-169121%

Announced back in July, the 'Jewel of the Nile' DLC pack for Serious Sam 3: BFE finally has a launch date: October 16. Jewel of the Nile features three campaign missions that take place during the middle of the single-player story, transporting Sam and his tight white t-shirt to the Temple of Isis on the island of Philae. All three missions will be playable alone and in co-op, and feature a few new weapons for an asking price of $9.99. Sam will even encounter "a monstrous temple guardian" boss and probably a bunch of other screaming monsters, because that's what happens in Sam's world. He'll even have to fight an Aludran Reptiloid but you probably already knew that because you saw the screen above. Look how perceptive you are!%Gallery-167519%

Hotline Miami was the official pick for the "Most Fantastic" game at Fantastic Arcade last weekend, but the cabinet I returned to whenever I had a spare moment was Vlambeer's Luftrausers, the expanded PC/Mac game based on the Flash dogfighting game. It's perfect as an arcade game, especially with the modifications Vlambeer put in place for the demo, as it gives you very simple mechanics to achieve an immediately apparent goal, and then leaves you to practice those mechanics for as long as you can survive. It's too bad an arcade cabinet won't be one of the default venues for the full game.%Gallery-163549%

A corner of Fantastic Arcade housed a trio of Devolver Digital demo stations, including a unit displaying an unannounced Mushroom Men game called Pax's Truffle Trouble.Mushroom Men originally appeared on Wii and DS, in a pair of platform action games developed by Red Fly Studio and published by Gamecock. Gamecock isn't around anymore, but Red Fly is still behind this new game, and the platforming has also changed significantly.

  • Luftrausers probably doesn't cost $5,000 (it might!), but it's definitely launching on PC/Mac this year

Vlambeer, the folks behind hyperaddictive rage inducer Super Crate Box, have another game on the way, Luftrausers, and it's coming out pretty soon. "Luftrausers is set to release on PC and Mac in late 2012," says newly announced publisher Devolver Digital. Devolver previously worked with Vlambeer on the Serious Sam 3 spinoff game, "The Random Encounter.""But what's a Luftrauser?" you ask? Well, it's a fictional warplane created by the Vlambeer dudes, and it comes in a bunch of different varieties ("125 deadly combinations," says the PR). In practice, this means you spawn with a trio of settings for your plane and you've gotta survive as long as possible (while destroying enemy ships, planes, etc.). Mastering each combination and learning your favorite should help add plenty of depth to the basic spawn/shoot/die/respawn loop.In a few rounds I played during GDC Europe, it was quick to pick up and hard to put down. The concept of playing it with an actual gamepad makes Luftrausers' core gameplay all the more thrilling – I was playing on a laptop keyboard with WASD, which worked surprisingly well, but I'd prefer a pad. Moreover, the soundtrack is delightfully retro-sounding with modern influence – think 16-bit era midi with dubstep influence.Luftrausers arrives later this year on both PC and Mac, "with a price point set at $5,000." Of course, the phrase "release date and price subject to change" is attached to that hilariously high price, so don't go expecting to pay that much when the game launches.

Jonatan "Cactus" Söderström, rapid-fire game designer, is working with bus-driving publisher Devolver Digital to bring players to a nightmare alternate-universe retro Miami.Developed by Dennaton Games, a new collaborative label by Cactus and Dennis Wedin, Hotline Miami is a brutally violent top-down action game set in a pixelated and neon-colored version of Miami, in which the player can collect "25 game-altering masks." It's due for PC and Mac, with unspecified plans for console adaptations. In case you were wondering, yes, Devolver has set up a real hotline, and it's at 786-519-3708. You will be asked to leave a message. You will probably also be creeped out.
