Apple will offer over 2,000 free coding classes for EU Code Week
As part of the EU's Code Week celebrations, Apple will offer over 2.000 free coding sessions at its stores across Europe. The event runs from October 6th through the 21st. Coding sessions are open to anyone who wants to attend, and there will be at least one per day per Apple Store. There will be a range of sessions available with different coding and content, including "Kids Hour: Sphero Maze Challenge" classes, which will teach kids to code using the Sphero Bolt.
Apple makes coding curriculum accessible for deaf and blind students
Today, Apple announced that it is teaming up with educators to bring Everyone Can Code to schools for people who are deaf, blind and have other assistive needs. This fall, teachers at certain schools that serve students with disabilities will begin incorporating Everyone Can Code into their classroom curriculums.
Apple trains Chicago teachers to put coding in more classrooms
Apple isn't quite done announcing educational plans in Chicago. It just unveiled a partnership with Northwestern University and public schools to help teachers bring programming and other forms of computer science into Chicago-area classrooms. The trio will set up a learning hub at Lane Tech College Prep High School (conveniently, the venue for Apple's iPad event) that will introduce high school teachers to Apple's Everyone Can Code curriculum. They'll also have the option to train in an App Development with Swift course to boost the number of high school-oriented computer science teachers.
