  • Flickr Find: Have yourself a Corona and a Mac

As much as I love my MacBook and its wonderful keyboard, I would gladly trade it to get some typing time on this vintage Corona typewriter. Until, of course, I made my first typo and had to live with the error or correct it manually and sadly produce a document with obvious blemishes. This photo, Old and New, was posted to the TUAW Flickr pool by Flickr user Jim. Did you know that we encourage readers to submit their own Apple related images? Please visit Flickr and share your images as we'd love to see your photos.

I'm not sure what this IMAC building in Denver, CO actually makes, but that doesn't really matter. I'm much happier just imagining that it's a strange Apple computer knockoff manufacturer. [Photo credit: Paul Sableman]

I don't know the back story behind how or why this iMac is just chilling out on a random sidewalk with a set of golf clubs. Either it's being sent to the landfill with some outdated metal poles, or it's waiting for a friend to pick it up and take it the the country club. I'll choose to believe the latter. • Apple TV gets ABC News, PBS Kids and a brand new Flickr app

You'd think that the steady stream of new Apple TV content would have slowed to a trickle by now, but nope -- far from it. Apple has just delivered a handful of fresh channels that include the free ABC News service (not to be confused with the authentication-based WatchABC), PBS Kids and the cricket-focused Willow TV. Flickr's app has also received a long, long overdue revamp (shown below) with a densely packed Explore section, an elaborate personal page and improved search. And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the new AOL On channel -- yes, you can now watch Engadget videos and other clips from our corporate overlords. Whatever content tickles your fancy, you just have to wake up your Apple TV to check it out.

  • Flickr Find: Steve's got your back

Flickr user Sam has found a clever use for her Steve Jobs Lego minifig. She attached the figure to a Lego stand and then slapped the stand on her desk with some Blue-Tack. A Lightning cable fits perfectly into "Lego Steve's" hand. Last week we wrote about Sugru, a playful material that hardens into rubber. Many people have used it to attach Lego figures to a surface, thus eliminating the need for the stand like Sam used. Adding Steve Jobs to the mix makes it that much better.

A Flickr user by the name of Poster Boy has a collection of iPhone 5c advertisements that he has been lovingly repurposing as recognizable cartoon characters. From Cookie Monster to SpongeBob, it's amazing that Apple didn't think of this all on its own. The creations definitely seem to brighten up the subway landscapes on which they're plastered, so I'll give him bonus points on that. [Photo credit: Poster Boy]

If you were an Apple fan in the 80s, a desk this chock-full of Apple gear would probably have made you swoon. In fact, it still might. • Yahoo to strip Facebook and Google logins from Flickr starting June 30th

Yahoo's slowly been closing off third-party logins for its web services, but it's now turning its attention to one of its most-established communities: Flickr. The Next Web reports that the company has emailed users telling them that Facebook and Google account logins will be removed from the photo-sharing site starting June 30th. Yahoo previously said the change would allow it to offer "the best personalized experience to everyone," but given its desire to reinvent itself, ridding its services of rival logins keeps users inside its walled garden and helps boost its own userbase. If your desired login option will cease to exist come June 30th, Yahoo asks that you log into the site one last time using your Facebook or Google details. You'll be required to create a new Yahoo account, which will then be linked with the account you've used previously.

I have no idea why this poor Apple tablet was fired upon, what its crimes were, or who decided it needed to meet its end at the end of a gun barrel. The photo has no description, making the mystery even more... mysterious? Anyway, the iPad seems to have managed to stop the small-caliber round in its tracks, as there doesn't appear to be a clean hole through the device, so bravo Apple engineers! Your creation can take a bullet. [Photo credit: Anthony DiLaura]

  • How many stickers is too many?

We ran a poll back in April asking how you feel about stickers on your MacBook. Not surprisingly, a whopping 41% of you said you'd never consider such a thing, while just 19% embraced the practice enthusiastically. But how much is too much? I have a feeling that the MacBook Pro pictured above falls into the "WHY!?" category, but I'll leave you to decide. I count at least 35 stickers here, which is quite an achievement in its own right, but I can't help but feel that the little glowing Apple logo smothered underneath them is crying out for help. • California's new self-driving car regulations prohibit falling asleep at the wheel

    by

California is fine with car makers test-driving autonomous vehicles on its roadways, but the DMV now has some rules on exactly how. Under new regulations, drivers (or riders as the case may be) will need to be official testers on a manufacturer's payroll and go through a special training program to get a yearlong permit. They'll also have to remain attentive behind the wheel -- so no napping on the way to work yet -- and notify the DMV if they're in an accident or have to override the car's manual controls for any reason. When it comes to cars, it's not a free-for-all. Manufacturers will need to apply for a permit for each individual vehicle, and cars are required to have at least five million dollars worth of liability insurance.

The peculiar parking habits of Steve Jobs are quite legendary. Seeing his license-plate-free Mercedes parked in the handicapped stall of Apple HQ was a seemingly regular occurrence. So much so, in fact, that visitors treated it as a photo op. Anywhere else in the world, taking a photo next to a random vehicle might be treated as strange, but this is Cupertino. This is some fantastically creative use of an old Mac that still has some life left. Bonus points for using it at what appears to be a retro clothes shop, since the Mac SE is a bit of an antique in its own right. I wonder if the Mac is for sale too? [Photo credit: Maduarte]
