You too can customize your real life vehicle with Forza 2 promotional items that are making their way to retailers and eBay. The Xbox Collector discovered a few Forza 2 goodies on eBay including a refreshing Forza 2 air-freshener, button, and sporty license plate frame. Can't you just Imagine cruising the neighborhood, sniffing your Forza 2 air-freshener while speeding past all the wannabes who'll be drooling over your pimped out license plate frame? Yeah, Forza 2 promotional items ... you'll get all the girls.
Finalized and complete Forza 2 car list revealed
Cars, cars, cars, and more cars. Forza 2 has a bunch of them (310 to be exact) and now you can drool over the finalized list of every car that will grace Forza's virtual pavement. Over on the official Forza 2 website Team 10 posted a complete list of every vehicle from every car class that'll be in the game come May. Among the list are seven special cars only available in the collector's edition or if preordered and a few limited unicorn cars offered by Team 10 in the auction house. Start drooling gearheads as you look over the complete list and find your favorite ride. Speaking of which. Now that the complete list has been revealed, what vehicle are you looking forward to taking out for a ride?
Forza 2 demo will feature 24 different cars
We knew a Forza 2 demo was coming to the Marketplace in April, but have been left in the dark to what exactly will be included. In Friday's Pit Pass the Turn 10 team revealed that the April demo is being developed alongside the actual game and will include 24 different cars from various car classes. What will be missing is any sort of online multiplayer or customization, features you'll only get with a $60 purchase. The Pit Pass also hints at in-game video footage that will be making its way through the inter-tubes sometime this week from two different media sources. And, for all you crazy car audio fans out there, you'll be pleased to know that Forza 2's dev team has gone above and beyond. Seriously, listen to this stuff from the game. It's like heaven, but in audio form.With Forza 2's release creeping closer and closer be prepared for one crazy media blowout. Customize that car in Forza 2
Not only will Forza 2 be getting an upgrade in the graphics department, but it will also offer an upgraded customization interface. Xboxygen posted a few new screenshots featuring the car customization garage and you can color us impressed. Not only will you be able to choose from a huge color palette, but you can add decals, twist, turn, modify and paste up to 1000 different customized layers. Forza 2 demo confirmed, more cars revealed
Microsoft has confirmed last week's rumor that a Forza 2 demo will arrive soon. Unfortunately, no specific dates have been confirmed, though a date should be announced "in the coming weeks." Also revealed was the next installment of Forza 2's ever expanding car list. The latest editions are "Aftermarket Tuner Car Classics." These cars cover a broad range of makes and models from 1992 all the way to 2006. The makes listed run the gamut from Acura to Honda to Chevrolet. Forza 2 demo coming to XBLM in April
Over on the wii60 forums, Doc Steel posted a scan of May's issue of OXM featuring some intriguing Forza Motorsport 2 info. In the scan, you'll notice that on the top right it states there will be a demo coming to the XBLM in April. We're extremely confident in the validity of this news, but are also aware of the nasty Microsoft certification process which could push the demo into late April or early May. But it's good nearly good as gold, we'll probably be seeing a little Forza 2 fun on the XBLM in a few weeks ... vroom![Thanks, James S.]
Forza Showdown post-show videos on XBLM
If you're a fan of SPEED's Forza Motorsport Showdown television series, then you'll be happy to know there are a few video downloads on the XBLM for you to enjoy. The six videos show each team's reactions to what happened on episode one of the show and why they think they'll win the competition. These downloads will also give you a feel for what the show is like if you have yet to tune in, but if you're a huge Forza fan you're probably a loyal viewer already. And before we hear the grumblings start, this content is only available to Xbox Live members in the US and Canada. Go team sprocket!
Sold! Forza 2 auction house trailer
Back in February we learned that Forza 2 will include an auction house feature where you'll be able to auction off your customized vehicle. All the blood, sweat, and hours of gaming you put into your vehicles could potentially pay off when you put your baby up for auction. The video above showcases the new auction house and a small glimpse to how it will work. But be warned, this clip is highly stylized and doesn't look to represent the actual game. From what we can tell, we'll probably be able to take a few snapshots of our vehicle and set the bidding prices before she goes to the auction block, but still are in the dark to exactly how it'll be run. Man are we still bitter about not seeing our 1991 Chevy Cavalier in the game ... what a classic.[Via dpcough]
Forza 2's (almost complete) car list revealed
Over at the official Forza 2 website they've posted a list of all the exotic, European and American vehicles you'll find in Forza Motorsport 2. The full list of announced vehicles are conveniently listed after the jump, but you must know that this isn't the complete list of cars ... oh no. The Forza team will still be announcing the Asian production cars on March 22nd, tuner and aftermarket cars on April 5th, and the race class cars on April 19th. Get excited, because we'll be seeing those hot Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Corvettes gracing the pavement soon.Though, we're still wondering whatever happened to the inclusion of the 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier ... oh well.[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]
Microsoft's GDC information blowout!
For those of you looking to find information on some of your favorite upcoming Microsoft Game Studios or XBLA games, just take a look at what Xbox.com has to offer. Over on the GDC section of Xbox.com you'll find a bunch of downloads for games like Forza 2, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect and Shadowrun. You can download fact sheets, press releases, and screenshots for those games including XBLA games like Schizoid, Eets Chowdown, and Jetpac Refuelled. So much information, so little time ... but get downloading because everyone knows you care.
In-game Forza 2 footage is pretty
Game Trailers posted an exclusive video of a quick Forza 2 in-game demo. As you can see above, the Ferrari Enzo is quick, shiny, and darn pretty. Hell, that car model is gorgeous! And we understand that games like Forza aren't all about their damage effects like the Burnout series is, but we would like to see a few pieces of car fly off when the Ferrari slams into the barrier. But overall, after looking at this short clip, we think Forza 2 fans will be satisifed with how the game looks and what the development team has accomplished with the sequel. Forza 2 on May 24, in Japan
According to the Japanese arm of Xbox.com, Japan is no longer being left out of Forza Motorsport 2's proposed global launch. A press release issued on the site claims Forza 2 will hit Japan on May 24; presumably the same week Turn 10's racer hits North American and European retail.Xbox.com release dates have proved just as sketchy as any retailer's listing, but this one's bolstered by an official release -- "2007-5-24" it is. Expect a similar date to ring out from Microsoft's GDC outpost later this week.[Via Live Gamer]
Forza Motorsport 2 gets its due date
Live Gamer's dpcough got his hands on an Xbox Japan press release about Forza Motorsport 2 and gleaned some very interesting information from it. According the release, Forza is expected to have a world-wide release on May 24th, 2007. This proves to be very promising, although dpcough admits that he's been wrong before. Still, we have faith in him, as our own babelfishing seemed to definitely agree with his claims, and even begot a couple chuckles out of the malapropisms found therein. So, do you think the "wood" will get Forza 2 complete with full "fourth" feedback support in late May?[Via Live Gamer]
Forza 2 auction house, new cars revealed
Lots of great stuff from Forza town this week. First of all, Turn 10 has officially announced the Forza Motorsport 2 online auction house. The auction house, as its name suggests, will let players buy and sell their customized rides. All the purchases are made using the in game currency, so it won't set you back any real cash. The best part: users can participate in auctions using a PC. That's right, you can track your auction even while you're at work! The auction house keeps track of all your car's stats, including miles driven, number of races, number of wins, etc. Since paint can be locked to a specific car, all cars can be truly unique. The auction house is set to be a very nice addition to Forza 2.Finally, Turn 10 has revealed wave two of Forza's new vehicles. More European cars this week, including V-Dubs (oh, snap!). Global launch for Forza 2 (excludes Japan?)
Turn 10 and Microsoft today revealed plans to launch Forza Motorsport 2 "on a global level simultaneously," indicating that the European version would arrive in May alongside its previously confirmed US counterpart -- no mention of a Japanese release was made. New Forza screens, Euro release date, car list
Not long ago, Microsoft and Turn 10 officially announced that Forza Motorsport 2 would release in May in the US. Today, they have announced that Forza 2 will also release in May in Europe. To celebrate this announcement, Turn 10 has released a handful of gorgeous screen shots and a list of the exotic European cars to be featured in Forza 2. The shots are positively beautiful, and the list -- which isn't complete -- is already huge. The list is the first of six, revealing 35 models from Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Ferrari. X06: ...and the rest
Quick impressions and thoughts on some other noteworthy games shown on the X06 show floor. Guitar Hero II (360): Not playable, but demo'ed continuously by two rock gods with the stamina of heavyweight boxers (see picture). They confirmed that the final Xbox 360 guitar controller would look like a Gibson Explorer but refused to comment on wireless capabilities or the intriguing D-pad on the base. Game itself looked nice in hi-rez, but graphics lagged a bit with the music at this early stage. Viva Piñata: Playable tutorial walks you through building a house, attracting new piñatas and making baby eggs. Rare demo with ten hours of progress showed a thriving garden brimming with life and fully accessorized piñatas. Hired helpers prevent the game from becoming a micromanagement chore. Looks like it could be a hit with the Pokemon set. Forza Motorosport 2: Game had major frame rate issues, making it very difficult to play and/or judge. PR handlers say it's 60 percent complete... that last 40 will be an uphill battle. Halo 2 (PC): Game played great with the mouse and keyboard, and looked great on the decked out Dell Dimension 9150 with large widescreen monitor. Other than that, it's still Halo. Map editor was not available for demo. Crackdown: Grand Theft Auto meets Hulk: Ultimate Destruction in a mess of a game with rough graphics, sloppy controls and an awful camera system. Needs serious work to be a worthy contender. That about does it for X06 posts from Barcelona. Sorry if I didn't cover your favorite game, but there wasn't enough time to do justice to everything available on the show floor. If there's anything you're still wondering about that wasn't covered in our X06 posts, I'll do my best to answer specific questions in the below comment thread in the coming days.
BIH content, 9/26: Lego Star Wars edition
Another day, another batch of BIH content. See what we did there? BIH. See, it's an acronym for Bringing It Home. Pretty sweet, huh? Anywho, here's the almighty list for today: Forza 2 Physics & Damage trailer NBA 2K7 trailer Sonic The Hedgehog trailer Shrek 3 trailer Just Cause trailer NHL 2K7 trailer The Darkness trailer LEGO Star Wars II demo(!) A potent list indeed, capable of discombobulating even those of the strongest constitutions. The real winner here is of course the demo of the UK's recent chart topper, LEGO Star Wars II. On a more peculiar note, wasn't there a trailer for The Darkness up yesterday? Is this one different? We'll be back shortly with our thoughts on the LSWII demo. We're sure you're waiting with bated breath.
TGS: A passenger's seat view of Forza Motorsport 2
Following our showing of the slightly macabre Viva Piñata, we were shown the far more sedate racing-sim, Forza Motorspot II. The sequel promises more of what made Forza a success, with some notable additions. Chris Lee, the Group Product Manager at Microsoft, walked us through an early build of the game, making sure to point out that it's in an early stage and may exhibit some characteristic wonkiness. Of course, that's why it's being shown behind closed doors instead of being trotted out on the show floor (see: Coded Arms Assault). While I didn't see any glitches or other anomolies that would have revealed the game's incomplete state, I did note a general lack of grittiness in the cars and environments. Lee said the art design for the series is intentionally clean and crisp but, somehow, it makes the vehicles look plasticine .... at least as long as the car is all in one piece. As in the first game, your car can and will take damage when you hit a wall or another car. In the example he showed us, the bumper fell off and remained on the track, interacting with the world and other cars, exhibiting its own physics.
Forza images (is that 3D grass?)
Forget about all this TGS business. Let's talk about this shot from Forza 2. Damn, that is one pretty car. Seriously, just look at it. Damn. Over the past few weeks, however, we've come to realize that pretty cars don't matter, apparently. No, what real racing enthusiasts crave is 3D grass. Why? We have no earthly idea, but it seems to be the holy grail of racing games. So, is that 3D grass? We're voting no. Check out more shots over at Xboxygen and decide for yourselves.
