We knew a Forza 2 demo was coming to the Marketplace in April, but have been left in the dark to what exactly will be included. In Friday's Pit Pass the Turn 10 team revealed that the April demo is being developed alongside the actual game and will include 24 different cars from various car classes. What will be missing is any sort of online multiplayer or customization, features you'll only get with a $60 purchase. The Pit Pass also hints at in-game video footage that will be making its way through the inter-tubes sometime this week from two different media sources. And, for all you crazy car audio fans out there, you'll be pleased to know that Forza 2's dev team has gone above and beyond. Seriously, listen to this stuff from the game. It's like heaven, but in audio form. With Forza 2's release creeping closer and closer be prepared for one crazy media blowout. Grab your steering wheels with an iron grip, because it's going to get exciting.[Thanks, THA1icarus]

  • Forza 2 demo a reality, says Microsoft

After popping up in a scanned page of Official Xbox Magazine, the Forza 2 demo has been given the official and unrelentingly green light by the Microsoft pit crew. The Redmond giant tells Eurogamer that further details regarding the demo, including its time of arrival on the Xbox Live Marketplace "will be confirmed in the coming weeks." As if sensing the impatience surrounding Forza 2's May release, Microsoft also doled out another list of cars set to be featured in the final product. Though you might better judge them after the break, we feel confident in confirming them all to be fast, shiny and the sort of expensive that demands the use of words like "ludicrously," "disgustingly," "outrageously" and "quite."

  • Forza 2 demo coming to XBLM in April

Over on the wii60 forums, Doc Steel posted a scan of May's issue of OXM featuring some intriguing Forza Motorsport 2 info. In the scan, you'll notice that on the top right it states there will be a demo coming to the XBLM in April. We're extremely confident in the validity of this news, but are also aware of the nasty Microsoft certification process which could push the demo into late April or early May. But it's good nearly good as gold, we'll probably be seeing a little Forza 2 fun on the XBLM in a few weeks ... vroom![Thanks, James S.]

Back in February we learned that Forza 2 will include an auction house feature where you'll be able to auction off your customized vehicle. All the blood, sweat, and hours of gaming you put into your vehicles could potentially pay off when you put your baby up for auction. The video above showcases the new auction house and a small glimpse to how it will work. But be warned, this clip is highly stylized and doesn't look to represent the actual game. From what we can tell, we'll probably be able to take a few snapshots of our vehicle and set the bidding prices before she goes to the auction block, but still are in the dark to exactly how it'll be run. Man are we still bitter about not seeing our 1991 Chevy Cavalier in the game ... what a classic.[Via dpcough]

Over at the official Forza 2 website they've posted a list of all the exotic, European and American vehicles you'll find in Forza Motorsport 2. The full list of announced vehicles are conveniently listed after the jump, but you must know that this isn't the complete list of cars ... oh no. The Forza team will still be announcing the Asian production cars on March 22nd, tuner and aftermarket cars on April 5th, and the race class cars on April 19th. Get excited, because we'll be seeing those hot Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Corvettes gracing the pavement soon.Though, we're still wondering whatever happened to the inclusion of the 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier ... oh well.[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

According to the Japanese arm of Xbox.com, Japan is no longer being left out of Forza Motorsport 2's proposed global launch. A press release issued on the site claims Forza 2 will hit Japan on May 24; presumably the same week Turn 10's racer hits North American and European retail.Xbox.com release dates have proved just as sketchy as any retailer's listing, but this one's bolstered by an official release -- "2007-5-24" it is. Expect a similar date to ring out from Microsoft's GDC outpost later this week.[Via Live Gamer]

Live Gamer's dpcough got his hands on an Xbox Japan press release about Forza Motorsport 2 and gleaned some very interesting information from it. According the release, Forza is expected to have a world-wide release on May 24th, 2007. This proves to be very promising, although dpcough admits that he's been wrong before. Still, we have faith in him, as our own babelfishing seemed to definitely agree with his claims, and even begot a couple chuckles out of the malapropisms found therein. So, do you think the "wood" will get Forza 2 complete with full "fourth" feedback support in late May?[Via Live Gamer]

Not long ago, Microsoft and Turn 10 officially announced that Forza Motorsport 2 would release in May in the US. Today, they have announced that Forza 2 will also release in May in Europe. To celebrate this announcement, Turn 10 has released a handful of gorgeous screen shots and a list of the exotic European cars to be featured in Forza 2. The shots are positively beautiful, and the list -- which isn't complete -- is already huge. The list is the first of six, revealing 35 models from Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Ferrari. IGN has the insider's scoop on upcoming May release Forza 2's goods. To jump start their exclusive Forza 2 media blitz, they've posted two car bios, both the Enzo Ferrari and the Maserati. They also posted a few exclusive shots of the cars and a brief developer's comments for each vehicle. Remember Forza fans, IGN will be posting exclusive Forza 2 news, art, screenshots and other goods in the weeks leading up to launch day. Information that won't even be available on the official site. • Forza 2 hitting the track in May

In a brief and somewhat enthusiastic e-mail, Microsoft has today announced that Forza Motorsport 2 is expected to come roaring out of the development pits in May, straight into the open arms of driving enthusiasts. It could get messy, but getting down to the nitty-gritty and tweaking speeding hunks of metal until they reach peak performance is what the game is all about. The official site has also been updated with a full track listing, which includes such exotically named locales as Nürburgring Nordschleife, Sunset Peninsula Infield and, err, Test Track. If you still crave satisfaction and insist on doing everything you can for za motorsport (OOF!), consider purchasing two more Xbox 360s and indulging in ludicrous, triple screen immersion (as seen above).

Today, the Forza 2 team announced that they are committing to a release date month! It's official, Forza 2 will be available May 2007. We still don't have an exact day, but we'll take a set month. They said that they are on schedule to put the game through certification in mid April and hit gold status soon thereafter. Also, as a bonus announcement, they released the track list for the game which you can check out after the break. And don't worry, the above screenshot is actually from Forza 2 not PGR3.

  • Don't blink, Forza 2 running at 60fps

A while back at TGS and X06 the press got a little hands loving with Forza 2 and were impressed with the visuals, but came away with a bad taste in their mouths. Everyone felt that Forza 2 was pretty eye candy, but quite choppy due to framerate issues. Well the framerate issue seems to be no more Forza fans, because the development team has announced that Forza 2 is running at blazingly sweet 60 frames per second with most particle/lighting effects turned on! And did you know that the original Forza ran at a measly 30fps ... interesting ain't it? I doubt Forza 2 will remain at 60fps when it launches, but I'm sure the framerate will be higher than its older (less attractive) brother.[Via IGN]

  • TGS: A passenger's seat view of Forza Motorsport 2

    09.24.2006

Following our showing of the slightly macabre Viva Piñata, we were shown the far more sedate racing-sim, Forza Motorspot II. The sequel promises more of what made Forza a success, with some notable additions. Chris Lee, the Group Product Manager at Microsoft, walked us through an early build of the game, making sure to point out that it's in an early stage and may exhibit some characteristic wonkiness. Of course, that's why it's being shown behind closed doors instead of being trotted out on the show floor (see: Coded Arms Assault). While I didn't see any glitches or other anomolies that would have revealed the game's incomplete state, I did note a general lack of grittiness in the cars and environments. Lee said the art design for the series is intentionally clean and crisp but, somehow, it makes the vehicles look plasticine .... at least as long as the car is all in one piece. As in the first game, your car can and will take damage when you hit a wall or another car. In the example he showed us, the bumper fell off and remained on the track, interacting with the world and other cars, exhibiting its own physics.

  • MS TGS lineup, no Blue Dragon

It's no secret that we're a little excited for Blue Dragon, the little game from Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker. It's also considered to be one of Microsoft's few big titles in Japan. This makes one wonder why Blue Dragon isn't featured on Microsoft's lineup for the Tokyo Game Show. We can only assume it won't be a no show. After all, Blue Dragon is supposed to be Microsoft's system seller this holiday. This is supposed to be what the Japanese will see when they find out the PS3 is sold out. Suffice it to say, we'd be more than a little surprised if Blue Dragon didn't make an appearance.Still, there are plenty of other notable titles like Forza 2, Viva Piñata, Sonic, DOAX2, and, of course, Gears of War. See the complete list after the jump.

  • Forza 2 delayed, release date in limbo

    by

    09.07.2006

After several days of internet murmurings and a noticeable lack of response from Microsoft, a delay in Forza 2's holiday release has manifested in that cruel place often referred to as "reality." Posting on the official Forza Motorsport forums, community manager Che Chou (username "chespace") revealed that the speedy sim sequel would overtake the 2006 holiday period and that the team would not "announce a new date until X06. Gotta do what you gotta do to get things right, y'know?" Oh, we know. Given the game's relatively brief development time (the first Forza hit the Xbox last year), lofty goals and glut of prerendered promotional trailers, the news will likely disappoint more than it surprises. The few weeks leading up to Microsoft's X06 event are sure to be filled with speculation regarding the new release date -- we hear March 2007 is pretty popular these days. In the meantime, Microsoft expects you to gaze upon the latest screenshots, one of which features a rather exciting wall. [Via Xbox 360 Fanboy] See also: Forza 2 jacks PGR3 technology
